Opportunity Nox: Please let it rock!!!

I want the guitars back, like in the C!B!B! days. No more synths, or at least not too much...

Agree!!!!

Not agree... i want fresh & new sounds... not the same and boring old guitars again and again....

i like guitars,i use to play 1.
bring back the R O C K !!!!!

You can demand what you want, but “The Pop Hits” has already been completed!

Some general thoughts: Marie and Per as artists can’t come up with the sound some people here and there may demand. They just listen to their own taste, otherwise they’d sell out themselves and loose their self-confidence.

well, their own taste is rock, blues, punk, poprock...
so HAND was a sell out.

@Reyner... guitars over and over again in Roxette... since when lately?

both together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

poppy_head: agreed!
Z

I think it’s gonna sound as Kix-ish, I have this feeling, i don’t know why

Ferdan—- The guitars/rock sound has been already explored in C!B!B! and in other songs- She doesn´t live here anymore, Per´s solo material... I would like they explored new sounds and ways- like in Entering your Heart, It Hurts... in the HAND era mainly.

make it a new the look or joyride please!!!! a big hit and follow it with a new album this autumn

Guys... according to a TDR article, “Opportunity Nox” will sound like a “Room Service” song. What’s that supposed to mean ? Like “Real Sugar” and “Jefferson” or like “Make My Head Go Pop” and “The Centre Of The Heart” ??

GUITARS PLEASE... no more CRAPPY synths !!!

All the best
LoneGunman

The song will sound the way it sounds and that final. With guitars or not with sythns or not...that’s irrelevant as long as it maintanes the good and unique musical attitutude that trademarks Roxette is what matters to me.

No one today in general terms is interested in old fashioned sounds..i like them but for a big number of people especially young generatiosn what matters is the modern sounds like HIP HOP and PUNK PIERCING TATTOED DRUG ROCK...too american in style ...that’s what they like now and that’s what they want to buy....then??? Do we want to Roxette to pierce themselves or to tattoo themselves and act like kids playing guitars like childish animals?LOL:) Or to see Per naked with a hat on the head and necklaces and Marie all naked witha bathing suit in a middle of a club dancing all wet...ugggggg that’s discuting to me...

Let Roxette be Roxette they way they are they way they like ....they wayb they want to be and and to sound like without these modern crappy influences that have no content as far as music is concerned.
You are a bit disapointed with the lack of guitars of with the quality of the latter recording of Roxette that’s fine I understand that but what can we do about it? It’s their options as musicians to do things like these and we just have to respect that...why keep demanding on them to do something they might not feel right at the moment...

Criativity comes naturally and should not be rushed or pulled over to much...allow Roxette to take as much time as possible to work on their songs for a new album, to do that album with the sound they like ...

CBB is a great album but its sound saddly is outdated and doens’t chear many people’s hears today ... it does to us because we are Roxette fans but there is a perpective of time changing, of music changes that happens to all musicians and to Roxette as well that we have to accept ...otherwise if you don’t feel any link with them anymore then it’s up to you to do what you feel right....juts let Roxette be free to do what they love to do...MUSIC

Oppotunity Nox: I like the title sounds original ....opputunity YESSSSSXXXXXXXXX lol:)

See ya guys....

h2002...

I don’t care if it’s outdated or not, i don’t care if it’s gonna be succesful or not, i just care about the music, and i consider Roxette is at their best when playing more rockier songs and good ballads than any other things like what you find in HAND.

What’s more up to date in music? oh .. las Ketchup... let’s make them records that kind of songs.

Music nowadays is shit... so i preffer Roxette to stay out of that, like any great band out there... great bands don’t follow trends.... they invent them.

btw: expressing our opinions is not slaving ROxette..

@Ferdan : Perfect opinion... I TOTALLY agree with you.

COME BACK THE GUITARS !!! KILL ALL SYNTHS !!

LoneGunman

Ferdan: Agree 100%.

Heart2002: Disagree 100%.

I workout in a gym academy here in my city, and they let the people who go there put their CDs in the CD player that is responsable for the academy’s “soundtrack”. I played TWATG and everybody loved. My brother never listened to it, too (and once he was a Roxette fan, but gave it up after Room Service) and so a friend of mine, 16 years old. They fell in love for Kix and Saturday.

I’m not saying that guitar songs are cooler or are more or less Roxette-ish. Those songs are simply natural. Just like it happens with Bad Moon. We always end to know that this or that single was originally rockier, originally this or that, and this originally always mean the song was cooler when we get to listen to the demo or to the damn original version. It seems that lately, Roxette is always trying to fit their music in a middle area, between trendy pop and what they always did, with a certain pain in the conscience.

So, let Opportunity Nox be simply natural. This is what the song is supposed to be. Simply Per and Marie.

agree with tinytim.
It seems that contrary to roxette making the kind of music they really want to, they are searching for/presurred into a sound that they think will attract modern/young listeners.
I like HAND and RS, but compared with the albums previous to them, they sound too forced. I am all for growth and changing the sound, but i can”t stand it when a band sells out.
My opion only....

May I ask one thing? why do you always seem to flame me whenever i post my own opinion? I am like any of you just expressing what i honestly feel about this issue. I am not trying to convince or persuade anyone to think like me....please bare that in mind! You all end up having a wrong idea of me!

Let see If i can make myself clear: I love Roxette i am inspired by their musica since they started until this very present moment. I don’t feel bothered by the way their music has changed and I don’t think that it has been worse. it still has a lot of input in my life and it will always have It is a big part of me as a person and also as a song writer ( i help a friend of mine to write song for his rock band...a small but interesting project). Bits and pieces of Their music is reflected on those things....And as i am a very flexible person musicallywise I accept with no problem the use of guitars or syths to make a song...whether it sounds more rock or more pop or dance I enjoy it equally....as long as it does not sound too cheepy like the crap people now want to listen to saddly!

But...

I understand that most of us are still very much connected to the past sounds of Roxette and I don’t deny that! In those day Roxette music was really strong had lot of input in lots of people besides us of course. I never paid attention to charts and I don’t care about them...they a complete torture to music makers and true artist who see their music underrated by what sell more now....anyway Roxette are still holding their amazing carrear and even though they are nor a #1 band in the charts they still do what they love the most MUSIC the one thing we love the most on them as well. guitar souds are awsome but nowaday roxette seem to prefer for some reason that they can only explain to flow other sounds into their music even thouygh most of you guys don’t seem to approve it. But we have alaways seen Roxette doing music they way they liked it to be for what ever reason. It’s a bit subjective trying to understand what makes them feel like doing a HAND album or a RS album I mean it’s up to them to say why those directiosn and why those sounds. But you have the right not to like it that’s natural of course.

You can say you guitar back i am not opposing to it would like to see some songs with a harder sound too. It’s just that I don’t feel bothered with how Roxette give a certain sound into their records Its theur choise i respect it and that hasn’t stopped me from listening to it ...I enjoy a SIMCas well as COY or a TCOTH...i feel exactly the same and yet they have dif sounds...this is only my perspective. This is how i feel about their music and I am not trying to influence you to think the same, believe me!

I am excited to see how ON will sound like and I am sure i am gonna like no matter how it will sound but that’s me This doesnt mean you will feel the same. e are all dif as persons and therefore we will see their music in dif ways. Ferdan and Tiny like the old times I do like them too but i don’t have nothing against the new ones. We all think diferently about the new song and that is because of the way each one of us looks at Roxette music. this is natural i guess....

I didn’t want to cause any fuzz or argumeny i was just giving my opinion and i wasn’t at no way unfriendly or rude to you....Let’s all keep enjoying Roxette they way each of uf has always done so far...and see how the new songs will sound like ...

OK? Peace guys
Heart

PS: When i said OUTDATED i was not saying MY OPINION on Rox music is that....i don’t think Rox music outdated far from me thinking like that.
It’s just that we all know that today younger generations prefer to buy and listen to hip hop punk rock and crappy pop like these bullshit ketchup song shit ...they like this crap WHY? I don’t know i don’t care It’s up to them but Roxette music is lot better too far from being a crappy as this crap i mention please take that idea away...
The other side of this reality is that people only think of Roxette as a group of the past and too old to be enjoyed today and i get teased by friend about that. But i don’t care about it....ROXETTE IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN ANYTHING THAT SELL NOW let them have what they think i just want to keep my music tastes for myself....

@Heart2002: My god! Is your hobby to write books! ;-)

I WANT THE GUITARS BACK!!!
SONGS LIKE “SLEEPING IN MY CAR”, “HOTBLOODED”! *ROX*

agree to roxing-jane’s opinion. both are my fav songs too:)

I agree with Majdy

posted wrong

Sorry If i wrote too much it was not intended to be like this BUT at least i said what i wanted to say...and it’s a pity that it difficulkt to find some respect from you guys...I guess it’s almost forbidden to “not like the recents songs of roxette because they have no guitars and they are no rock and to crappy...” funny the crappiest thing i know is teen pop and las ketchup actually...and you seem to put roxette almost at the same level as if they were doing the same...

Ps: Ferdan, may i ask please not to look at me with
thistrange and unfriendly way you seem to have on me? Please....it’s clear that we like Roxete in dif ways as i explained and i don’t mind about it but you don’t have to be so angry with me for every opinion i give. I respect yours the same way i’d like you to respect me more often. i don’t know you I don’t ahve reasons to hate you why should you cause it looks like it! Can we start talking to one another in a more friendly way from now on, this is taking us anywhere and i don’t feel keeping this environment btw us...ok? Keep Roxing ...Heart

Hi boyx and girlx
I agree with heart_2002 ideas but not with his length threads

I must say that most of you are close-minded people (you are boring me), I can’t stand when people affirm that “Have a nice day” and “Room service” are they’re worst albums, you can tell your opinions, but in real live that’s not tru.

The problem is that people who likes rock, only likes rock, that is, they are close-minded people.

As a critic or a music expert would affirm (as a universal truth) Joyride is the best Roxette album we want it or not it is. Then, we can say that we like “CBB”, “LS”…
But Joyride is the best one.

Then I must say that “Have a nice day” (under a neutral opinion) could be the second best Roxette album together with “CBB”, so stop criticising it.
You guys that don’t like dance songs should consider that “Stars” is one of the best dance songs ever and that “Crush on you” and “7twenty7” are Roxette greatest hits not released as a singles as could be “Lies”, “Hotblooded” or “Keep me waiting” and on the other hand, the ballads from “Have a nice day” are one of the bests Roxette ballads ever, so why are you keeping saying that “HAND” sucks?

And I don’t want people think that I defend “HAND” and “RS” era because I’m a dance music fanatic, because that’s false, after Roxette my favourite artist is Sarah Brightman (that sings opera and new age) and Dover (the most rocker band of Spain).
And my 2 favourite songs are “Sleeping in my car” and “Stars”, in the opposite tastes of fans, because people who like “SIMC” hate “Stars” and that’s something I still don’t understand, and for example I don’t like “Room Service” album I’ve never liked “TCOTH” and I still don’t like it, the same with “MATAH”, but I don’t go telling that “Room service” sucks (although is the album I like the least) because Roxette music doesn’t suck, what really suck are those intolerant fans!
So if I defend latest Roxette music is because doesn’t deserve the bad critic that is receiving from old fans.

Guitars back?
Yes please, like “SIMC”, “Fireworks”, “Lies”, “JA”, “SDLHA”, but I also like the dance beats from “Stars”, “COY”, “7twenty7”, “MMHGP”.

PS – to Mr. Gessle
What about of including as b-sides rock versions of “Stars” and “COY” and dance versions of “SIMC”

Well, you say that ’cos you are a dance fan...
you don’t have an idea of how some of us “old” fans became fan of Roxette.
How?.... because Roxette was an alternative to the dance and rap music ruling those days initial.... and Roxette was clearly proud of that.... at least Marie.... and blah blah.... having the dance tracks on remixes and bsides was perfect......and blah blah blah
Dancee music is too cheap for a band like Roxette in my opinion... dance music is cheap...... i´m not saying it’s bad to like it.... but musically i consider it cheap.

ps.
hi heart 2002

@ Ferdan - Once again... I totally agree with you.

And there’s more... this damn dance stile that Roxette is doing now, didn’t bring nothing good to them... they do not are more respectable, they do not top the charts and they do not have more fans... actually I know 2 Roxette fans (and REALLY BIG fans, since “The Look”) that don’t listen to Roxette anymore since “Have A Nice Day” album and its crappy dance music.

GUITARS, AND ONLY GUITARS, BACK... NO MORE DANCE MUSIC...

All the best
LoneGunman

PS: Heart2002... don’t be mad, please... it’s a matter of taste !! All the best for you ! :)

*agrees with Ferdan and LoneGunman*

Roxette tried to go dance to reach a wider/younger audience but failed. And that attempt has nearly killed them. The forgot that most of their fans were in their mid 20’s... Roxette basically betrayed us.

If I liked dance music, I’d listen to Ace Of Base, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, BSB, N’Sync, etc. They are WAY better than Roxette at doing dance music.

And yes, HAND was a complete sellout.

Can we all wait and see how ON is gonna be like instead of keeping speculating about it, because we all want it to sound in a way that is dif to someone’s elses? Some want it like SIMC others like TCOTH..i mean it must be one way or the other no matter which is better than the other cause our music taste differs completely...

We can suggest them to do a certain idea we might have but not demand them to do something in our personal way just to makes us happy.or because we are so damm convinced it’s the right one and therefore something unquestionable but that also happens due to personal musical tastes..otherwise they would have to release this song in millions and milliions of ways each way to each one of us something absurd and impossible...

Roxette can not please all of us that’s clear some will like it others don’t ... but do we have to cry our hearts out because of that? Let’s see how ON sounds and then each one of us will say whatever is to be said but it won’t change anything!

If Roxette are being influenced by modern sounds or not, if Roxette prefer to do more dancy things..that’s an issue that they can only say for themselves...as long as it is what they like to do and how they like their songs to be...in the end...we can only say whether we like it or not and there’s nothing more to say about it....
Yes like many of us here some will be very dissapointed with it others don’t but that’s part of this whole thing...nothing can be the way we would like to be...saddly...

There is a very big nostalgia for the rockier sounds of Roxette back there in the past...and i don’t blame anyone for that cause after all these years that’s quite normal but....per and marie know how, what and why they are doing things a bit diferent and they can only the ones to explain that...

We are mere listeners and jugdes of that....we express our opinions and ideas as long as it doen’t tunr this into a mess and chaos...

HAND is a CD from the past.. an non-intended sell out that flopped .....they will not ever record anythig similar to it cause both regreted it a bit later...therefore ignore HAND... for a change!!!

Let roxette rox the music...

Ps: Ferdan, hi how are you? Ahhh is ist true you like some Abba songs? I felt that due to a post of yours some time ago about an Abba song “Lay all your love on me”!!!

I hope that the new song is in the style of
“The Look”, “Fireworks”, “SIMC”, “Joyride”,
“Dangerous”, “Dressed For Succes” and not in the HAND-style, although there are some tracks which are ok (like “Crush On You”).

Hey guys you giving me the reason, you are close-minded.

Just say that the ponly rock album is “CBB” (one of their bests) but their first albums were more dance-able than rock-able, take a look at “Soul deep”, “Neverending love”a nd every song in “Look sharp” album except “Listen to your heart”, just to remember the old fans, the Roxette origins.

And as far as I know Roxette has only one real dance song, “Stars” and 4 dance-able songs like “COY”, “7twenty7”, “TCOTH” and “MMHGP”. That is 5 dance-style songs, so why are you saying that Roxette is making dance music? they are only making few dance songs that is diferent.

Bon Nadal to everyone, also to the close-minded-old fans

The Roxette origins were great... nothing like HAND...... no cheap synth sounds, good power chords, no bass drums hiting on every beat (well, only in chances)...
you can’t even dare to compare to HAND

@Alfonsette - If for you, to be an open-minded persson, I have to like songs like “Stars” and “The Centre Of The Heart”, then I preffer to be close-minded... and I’ll be proud of it.

“Stars”, “Make My Head Go Pop”, etc... these are NOT Roxette... it’s not even a parody... Wanna know what’s Roxette ? Listen to “Sleeping In My Car”, “June Afternoon”, “Dangerous”, “Fingertips” and than you will know what I’m talking about.

KILL ALL SYNTHS !!!
GOD BLESS THE GUITARS !!!

LoneGunman

@ Heart 2002: Totally agree!
Why don’t you write under every reply,... to be continued! *LOL* (don’t take it too serious) ;-)

@ ALFON : wow i didnt know that “soul deep” was more dance-able than rock-able song...u opened a whole new world from me thanks now i see things from a different point of view

*roflmao* dont be silly “soul deep” is a rocky song influenced by rollings stones satisfaction...unless satisfaction belongs to the “more dance-able” songs too :P

i like to be old and old fashioned and close minded roxette fan I BLOODY LOVE IT
MORE GUITARS FOR ME PLZ ;-)

BTW I like the HAND album. It has great songs but with some crappy arrengements. Imagine “Crush On You” and “Stars” as rock-oriented tunes... 7twety7 is perfect when you listen to the demo version. “Wish I Could Fly” has drumloops but it’s a killer song. Love it!

I really don’t care if it has guitars or not. I only care if it’s good!

I’m not narrow minded like some people.

@ LoneGunman

Somebody could say that Stars, The Centre Of The Heart or Rapino Brothers’ mixes of The Look are his/her Roxette! Think about it...

@ Markuz

Someone could also say that Roxette tried to go more rock in 1994 but failed...Crash! Boom! Bang! was too rock for the Joyride fans and too pop for the rock dudes...

Roxette has been critisized for sounding too much the same (-disagrees-) & they also like to try new things. Guitar riff after another would certainly bore me!

I was a Joyride fan and it certainly wasn’t too rock for me...

@ animalkingdom

In my opinion, Joyride was as rock as CBB! What are you talking about?

Bonne journée! Have a nice day!

I just lov the “Kix” sound. if the new single is like that I will be very happy :)

@ desert-moon

Joyride as rock as CBB? Never!
How many rock songs are there on Joyride?
And how many on CBB? (H&I, Lies, C’ing guitars, even SIMC was too rock for some ppl (my own experience)).

CBB was too rock-oriented and lacked hooks so ppl who bought Joyride & liked it (not fans) didn’t buy Crash! Boom! Bang!

But what was the topic again?

...Right.. Nox will undoubtedly be a song that almost everyone will complain about.

After all this is not about whether Roxette are a rock or a pop group, it’s not about the dancy stuff or if has guitars or not....

The real deal...will the song sound powerful will it be big (for some roxers who are constantly worried about chart positons) will the song have real drums and guitars instead of synth sounds...one thing is certain....saddly....Roxette’s music will always be a issue for complaining...no one will ever agree about it as being something good....all the roxers feel Roxette in dif ways ways that crash and bang againt’s others...some will only claim the rock sounds, other seem to apreciate roxette with these modern sounds (that for me aren’t being used by anyone else thesedays...) others seem to make fun of those who like these souds...others will find hard to accept changes in Roxette music, others can cope with it and really love as much as the old stuff, others will always complain about the way the song should hit the charts as if this was a very important issue...others will only see Roxette as a rock group as much others don’t others seem to find lack of quality in their songs other don’t .... I mean after all these years we have been loving Roxette with dif colours and shapes...nothing or almost nothing in common in btw us....

And “Opputunity nox” will be another victim of all these divergencies btw us...and the song hasn’t been heard yet ....i guess it’s a tradition now...

One last question: the true and unique trademark and attitude that characterizes Roxette in the making of their songs, the very own Roxette melodic brillance and beauty that has made their song wonderful over the years ...an attitude and feeling that NO ONE else is using cause Roxette’s music still is unique no matter how it sounds... have you asked yourselves if it still remains in it? Have youe ever asked yourselves what do you really feel now when you listen to them? Did you really understood recognized such thing back then? Or were you just driven by the madness of the fresh new comer Roxette music ? Or is it difficult to get such feeling without focusing on the techical aspects that shape and structurte the song?
One thing to focus on and to think about i guess...

I have only one thing to add to this discussion.
Per&Marie!!!! Please bring back the guitars!!!!!!!!! Stop doing disco - it’s not natural for you!!!!

Of course this special attitude remains :)

Interesting discussion here, but it always seems to boil down to one thing when we’re speculating on the sound of a yet-to-be-heard song: opinions, opinions, opinions, and bashing of other’s opinions.

People, every one of us has slightly different reasons for loving Roxette. Personally, I tend to slightly prefer their rockier songs (like SDLHA, 7Twenty7, etc). But I also love Stars and their accoustic/ballad stuff, depending on what mood I’m in.

The thing that everyone should get through their head is that these are all our opinions... there is no right or wrong answer, hence, there should be nothing to flame anyone about in this thread. Fine, some people like the old sound better than the last 2 albums, some like guitars, some (or many in this case) hate the synths. WHATEVER! Just get over it. The bottom line is this: whatever Roxette puts out will be better than the best material of other bands right now, so why can’t just be happy with what we get.

Heart 2002: Good point!!

i enjoy equally both Synths and Guitars.. as long as it Sounds Harmony and perfect!!

Perfanatic, and Heart you’re right.

If the song doesn’t get recorded in a certain format then some listener out there is going to flip out and get pissed, like it’s some sort of disaster.

If people keep having expectations, sooner or later it’ll just lead to disappointment.

And when you don’t have expectations...you keep an open mind.

I’m sure it will sound PERfect!!!

i have an of topic question - what about jonas issacsson solos like in the old stuff?? well i really miss it , because he is just great.
so yea i miss the guitar staff , specially the great rock solos in distortion sound *ooo yea*

a song in the style of ALWAYS BREAKING MY HEART would be kewl!

how the hell can anyone say stars is not roxette...uits a great pop tune regardless of what for it takes, rock dance or balad....see this is what makes me laught he most everyone chides hand but they own it and liek some somngs off it....the ballads r classic roxette...727 is a more danceable sleeping in my car

oh and one the whole roxette isnt dance thing...i call your name, neevr ending love, dressed for succes and dangerous all were pop dance tunes

theres a big distance among dressed for success-dangerous and stars-727 u are wrong

@växjö: 747 is a song by Kent... Roxette’s is “727” ;)

@santi: i dont know what u re talking about babes *lol* :P

yeah i am wrong thats why rs is the most underselling roxette album :)

yeah what u said its irrelevant
