It is the name of a girl in a song of the 60’s 70’s band Dr. Feelgood, the song was called ’Roxette’
This band does still exist.

Yeah, the name of a girl...but I had the chance to listen to the song once (and twice) and it’s horrible (well, not that much). The only part I liked it was that in which the girl’s name was mentioned (Roxette!!)

The only good part is the word “Roxette”!
Eddie said on December 19, 2002 19:47:
Roxy: “Set” can also mean “Group”, so it would mean “A Rock Group” ;)

Marie’s nickname, Majsan is a better delicacy for a Hungarian. Majsan is in Swedish, does anybody know what does it mean? In English you can say as My Sun. Sounds similar :). The Hungarians allways cut the last sounds off the words, and Majsa is the name of a town in Hungary. You can find it as Kiskunmajsa on a map. The first six letters are there only for the precise location. Like uptown-downtown in English. Few years earlier, a little girl was given the freedom of Majsa, because, her father, a photographer took a few pics about the town and loved it at first sight. So he named her newborn daughter Majsa after the town.

@whiteroses:
I know what you mean. I don’t know why they called themselves Roxette other than the fact Per liked the song.
It is a female name, and some people might probably think it is only Marie’s band. I also remembered someone posting in a Savage Garden forum who doesn’t know who Roxette was and she thought, Roxette is probably an “all girl” group like Spice Girls.
@Eddie: Rock Set???? I think “Rocks It” is a possibility too. Which means something like “they rock” or they make anything rock.
But I think in a way, it is an appropriate name for their group as it has the word ROX on it!!!
....... and Roxette totally rocks (ROX)!!!

It’s a girl’s name, nothing else.
