Choose a Roxette song!

Hi people.
I am the representative of Ash Tree Records.
Some of you will remember Viking, the young
artist from Italy who is a Roxette fan first of all
and who has made the covers of Mot okända hav
and Listen to your heart (Lyssna till ditt land).
For all the ones who will buy Viking’s new album
“Askungen” there will be the possibility to
choose a Rox song that Viking will sing and you
will find an mp3 file of it on the net.
All the entries must be posted to [email protected]
The song will be drawn on 31st March 2003.
Visit Ash Tree Records:

You can find some mp3s of Viking’s works here:

Why should we?
Why does this person need to sing Roxette song?
Why can’t this person write and sing their own songs?
Why does this artist need to ride on Roxette’s success to make a career for themselves?
RIP OFF RIP OFF RIP OFF

Maybe its you who needs to check a few things out?
I am new to TDR recently, but have been reading through a lot of discussions.
It is consistent that you seem to look for arguments, am I correct?
Why can’t you make contributions without pulling other fans apart? Is it because they don’t conform to your standards?
Also why are you so negative. Why don’t you start a few discussions yourself, rather than try to trash or downgrade other people’s.
Did it also occur to you that other people may not exaclty want to listen to your opinion either?
Not looking to make enemies, but the news of the day is people aren’t going to conform to what you think should be written or not written on this chat.
Deal with it!

If you think making a cover song of a band is ripping off either your head is screwed or you never read enough about music... so i preffer to think your case is the later one... go and search a music glossary... and read it.
So if that’s your opinion Roxette also had their “rips off.....”
Oh Marie (sheryl crow)
Help! (The Beatles)
Hanging on the telephone (Blondie)
Heart of gold (Neil young)
and the list goes on...
and if you’re talking about begining a career... well, in the first GT album there were 2 cover songs, well, acording to you... 2 rip off.

Well I am soooo sorry that according to you that I cannot have an opinion.
That was my opinion, I was entitled to it whether you agree with it or not.
I am going to keep posting my opinions whether you like it or not.
If it fires you up so much maybe you should ignore it.
I know deep down you are probably such a nice lovely thoughtful person, who gets along well with everyone you come across in life.
I could not imagine that you would be someone sat in your room on your own with no friends and no social skills, so you would have to pull every other fan on here apart.
I think you would be able to do a wonderful version of The Heart Shaped Sea, because you would probably be the expert on it, like you are obviously the expert on every other topic here.

No, seriously - how can you argue over such a triviality. Some1 has only asked you politely what’s your fave Rox song and you nearly turn it into a political case. I don’t see anything bad about making covers of Roxette’s songs. Just realize, how many revival groups exist in this world and no1 cares.
Calm down Phyco, there are many far more serious things out there...

Hey Ferdan, the big difference is, that Roxette never released their covered songs on any CD’s at all. They never produced them to make money 0ut of it, I think that is quite clear to even you.

I gave you the example of Gyllene Tider putting covers of songs in their first record. And, the biggest band of all time ,The Beatles, had a lot of covers in their first album.... and on each album....
well, I change back what i said in my other post... now i think you read about music ;)
And i´m not the one putting people down here, you were putting down the Vikings work just cos she wants to do some cover songs...

In my opinion bands should not cover songs, but be original and make something theirselves and not just copy the songs made by other people.
It is such a cheap way of scoring success.
Nowadays we are thrown dead with (usally very BAD) covers.
DON’T COVER, BE ORIGINAL.
Take a look at the real bad covers of Madhouse (covers Madonna).
We don’t want that to happen to Roxette-songs, do we?
I think that Per and Marie should first hear the covers and judge if it is ok to release it or not.
If Per and Marie like it, it must be OK, otherwise it should not be allowed to cover the Roxette-songs.

I thought “Lyssna till ditt land” cover was made by the very nazi band called Ultima Thule...
