WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE IN SWEDEN!!
ally77 said on November 29, 2002 13:04:
For me it has to be, Halmstad or Tylosand. Leif’s lounge rocks!!!.
Fave tourist place: Vasa Museum & City Hall.
Fave Shop: Ahlens City, Stockholm.

I like a lot Stockholm -> Gamla Stan, Södermalm, Östermalm, Djurgården, Skansen, The Globen... Anyway Sergels Torg (where Åhlens is) is one of the ugliest squares in Sweden for me. Frescati and the northern part where the University of Stockholm is is also a very nice place.
Malmö is one of the nicest cities in Sweden for me.
Norrköping looks good too but I have bad memories because of having being “intimidated” by some skin-heads there...
But I bet if you like nature you’re gonna love the wilderness in the north. Try Kiruna, the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi, Abisko, Riskgränsen, The Kungsleden (better in the summertime) and Nikkaluokta. You can be lucky enough to watch the northern lights if the sky is clear and the night is very cold :)
If you like skiing one of the best places is Åre.
Have fun wherever you go!!! ;)

I love Lund, Eskilstuna, Malmö and Gamla Stan (STHM)!
Halmstad and Tylösand ... that’s nice, but those cities listed above - they are wonderful!
Santi said on December 2, 2002 19:58:
Yeah, Eskilstuna is wonderful, forgot it, but after Stockholm it was the city I visited the most when I was in Sweden :) (you know, there’s an intercity train going from Stockholm to Eskilstuna every hour that stops in Stockholm Syd (Fleminsgberg) where I was living.
(In Södertörns Högskola :D Don’t ever visit this :P)

Åland is Finland, isn’t it? :D Everyone talks Swedish but is part of Finland as far as I know. There’s a very popular ferry (among exchange students at least) that goes there every night and it’s like all party :D

I love Stockholm and Göteborg, more than Malmö and Halmstad.
This summer I’ll visit Örebro, Karlsborg & Jönköping - does anyone know about these places?
All the best, Rich

This summer I was in Malmö. It´s a very nice city.
But I like also Lund, Halmstad, Tylösand and STOCKHOLM.. It´s great there.
harriej said on March 11, 2005 20:36:
Halmstad, Stockholm, Halsingsafallet is very beautiful as well, arctic circle.
Marc said on March 11, 2005 22:58:
I’ve been to Stockholm last year, and I love it so much. When I was arriving with plane I saw a lot of lakes and forests, a very beautiful nature. I wish to come again to Sweden and to visit other places.
felicity-brown said on March 12, 2005 02:59:
For me, it has to be Tillberga (just outside of Västerås) - it’s the most hip & happening place on Earth! ;)
Nah ...it’s gotta be Stockholm, but the whole of Sweden is lovely :)
per_mson said on March 12, 2005 11:15:
Gotland is not too bad... :)
Best store in Sweden is without any doubt Gekås!! ;)
Sparvogamarie said on March 15, 2005 14:52:
It depends what you’re looking for....if you want a lot of things to do like shopping, clubs, restaurants and sightseeing then Stockholm is the best. If you want beaches then Halmstad/Tylösand is great. There’s a wonderful town called Örnsköldsvik up in the north, and that was probably my favourite town. It’s a small city in the middle of the forest. The scenery is to die for! It looks like a postcard with mountains, lakes, woods, it’s just gorgeous. And then if you want entertainment you have the city with all the shops and places to eat.
Sparvogamarie said on March 15, 2005 14:54:
Oh and of course Borgholm is great too, you have the castle from Listen to your heart there and it’s a beautiful place too. I think LaDolceVita might have been talking about Öland not Aland, because Öland is the island where Borgholm is!
per_mson said on March 15, 2005 17:08:
Östra stranden is a far better beach in Halmstad than Tylösand. It is nothng special at all with Tylösand in my (and many citizens in Halmstad) opinion. There are plenty more and better beaches along the coast around Halmstad. :)
Sparvogamarie said on March 17, 2005 13:59:
Yeah but if you’re a Roxette fan (and I’m guessing if you’re on this site you are!) then Tylösand and Halmstad are special because of it being Roxette’s home town and of course Per’s hotel is fun to visit. They might not be the best beaches but they’re the most interesting from a Rox fan point of view!
Santi said on March 17, 2005 22:45:
I’ve been to Halmstad, and not to Tylösand, and I did not like Halmstad especially either. But I was not there in the summer, so I don’t know how nice it can get to be...
But today I got to know that this summer I’m going to have a course of my Master in Bergen :D
Which I know, is not Sweden, is Norway. But I’ve always said anyway that Norway is so much more beautiful. I’ll be in a fjord, since I’m studying oceanography :)
per_mson said on March 25, 2005 08:29:
@sparv: Well, yeah, but I think the general question of this topic was “where is the best place in Sweden” and not “where is the best roxette fan place in Sweden”... and since so many people here seem to have got hooked up by Tylösand so much (probably because they know it from Roxette) I thought I could tell them that there are far better places to visit if they are there anyway. People who are not from Sweden or have never lived in Halmstad (which I have for 10 years) might not know about those places....

This summer I will visit Goteborg, Malmo, Kalmar, Oland and again Stockholm. It will be great to be in their country.
ally77 said on March 26, 2005 12:36:
This summer I will visit Gothenburg and Halmstad and only because I have not been there for 6 years! I plan to go to Stockholm in December but also really want to see some other places in Europe... I love Sweden but I think I should stop spending money on going to the same places... lol
biggestfan said on March 26, 2005 13:09:
The absolutly best and beautifulst place in sweden is Mariestad!!
I love this city. When we are in sweden we always visit Mariestad. Does anybody know this city??
Breathe8 said on June 10, 2005 18:07:
No, I don´t know Mariestad but there must be very nicely by lake.
Breathe8 said on June 14, 2005 06:53:
I will go to Halmstad in august but I will be there for 2,3 days only. I am looking forward to museum of Roxette. It will be great Roxette days!
DGessle said on June 14, 2005 10:48:
The best place in my opinion is Halmstad, maybe because i lived there.. but also Tylösand beach.. I like also Karlstad and Skövde.. And the best landscape is around Jönköeping! =) I drove my car around Sweden last year and i have to say ALL places have something special ^_^
Breathe8 said on June 14, 2005 10:53:
Yes, I will visit Tylosand too of course to see Per´s hotel, Roxette museum, shop, nice beach.... It´s very interesting to see all Roxette places in Sweden.

Deff. Stockhom!!! They have *THE BEST HOT CHOCOLATE* in the WORLD!!!! haha!
Santi said on June 14, 2005 21:14:
I want to kindly ask that if someone happens to visit the Golden Hall in Stockholms Stadhuset (City Hall), to avoid engraving any message in the furniture, ground or walls, making references to Roxette. It’s very annoying for the rest of visitors to see that stuff. We don’t need or even want to know that you were there, and everybody knows already that Roxette were there :)
tevensso (moderator) said on June 15, 2005 10:34:
I never heard of a Roxette museum in Halmstad. Leif’s possibly is the closest thing.
Breathe8 said on June 15, 2005 11:18:
At Per´s hotel in Tylosand of course. In my 1st message I didn´t write that I will visit Tylosand too, it can seem that this museum is in Halmstad.
Santi said on June 15, 2005 17:04:
When they put you in a museum that is not wax, you’re well retired...
Isn’t there a Pop-Hall of Fame? Like Cooperstown? :D
annaG said on June 16, 2005 15:15:
Leif’s Lounge is not a museum...it is a night club! :D
But well....there are many Roxette things to see there so for that it is a bit like a museum.
Breathe8 said on June 16, 2005 16:25:
AnnaG: Yes, a lot Roxette things, for example their golden, platinum records at Per´s hotel - it´s also called Roxette museum.

I like a place called Mellbystrand, it’s about 30-40 km south of Halmstad. A BEAUTIFUL beach! Since I live in Stockholm I like the town prettyy much, especially Djurgården!
ally77 said on June 29, 2005 06:41:
I must visit Djurgården next time I go.... I think it’s the one place I have not seen.....
ally77 said on June 30, 2005 06:36:
lol, was gonna play pool when I was there, but someone else beat us to it!
ally77 said on July 5, 2005 09:08:
Can someone just remind me which street it was that Per lives on in Stockholm... I just kind of forgot!
on_a_mission said on July 5, 2005 23:09:
pool table looked OK to me. Its kinda stranded in a hallway though.
Hotel Tylösand is VERY expensive though. Also, if you go to the beach on season its not so good. It has too many people and you can’t appreciate the beauty.
