Abba, Andreas Johnson, Eva Dahlgren, Robyn, Stina Nordenstam, Lambretta, Bosson, Ace of base, Cardigans, The Hives.... maybe more!! ;)

My mother loves KENT!!! :DD
Especially the last album Vapen Och Ammunition. She doesn’t understand a word even in English, and thinks Swedish is a very weird language, but she likes a lot songs like “Sundance Kid”, “Dom Andra” or “Kärleken Väntar”.
She has asked me to translate all the lyrics into Spanish :DDDDD

I think Patrik Isakson is great. I don’t know a lot about him but I do adore three songs in particulair:

1. Du får göra som du vill
2. Tilbage hvor vi var (duett med Christian)
3. Hos dig är jag underbar

And I‘d like to know some more about Thomas Ledin... I really like his songs, although I’ve heard just a few.
Cheers,
Flávia
Brazil

I would write this in Swedish but I always make some mistakes (too similar to Norwegian and so it interrupts) so here goes some my favourites:
ABBA
Ace of Base

Backyard babies
Meja

beside Roxette & Co I like ABBA and Kent

ABBA

Abba
Europe
and I only know 1 song from both The Cardigans, and Refused (I heard they were Swedes, so...)

And any side project Rox-related. :P

Hendrik Larsson.

Me!

Hmmm, Very Weird that so few people mentioned Secret Service.
They released like 6 albums in the 70’s- 80’s and had such Amazing songs as
“Flash in the night”
“10 O’clock Postman”
“Oh Susie”
“Let Us Dance Just a Little Bit More”

....And many others

Also a Group called Sonic Dream Collective.
Their “Gravity” album from 1996 was Amazing, and they sounded a lot like Ace of Base.

Euro4Ever: I like both SDC (later as Sonic Dream) and SS.

I like Army of Lovers almost as much as roxette. Not that keen on Alcazar though. Lets hope ’Bodies without organs’ Bards new project, will be better.

Are we supposed to just name people in the music business or whoever Swede we like?
I admire Markus Naslund and Stefan Edberg!

Also Vacuum
I Loved their last one “Starting Where the Story Ended”

Unfortunately, I did Not like Bard’s new project Alcazar.

And AOL’s “Obsession” still Sends Shivers down my spine everytime I listen to it. It’s a Masterpiece!!! :)

No one said they had to be in music so I’m going to add my 2 cents. :-)

My Favourite Swedes (in no particular order):

1. ABBA
2. Pippi Longstocking
3. Stefan Edberg
4. Peter Forsberg
5. Ingrid Bergman
6. Annika Sorenstam
7. Raoul Wallenberg
8. Neneh Cherry
9. Alfred Nobel
10. Carl Larsson

strange someone found this old topic again ;)

Oh & strange I have not replyed to it before! :S

I like

Ace of Base,
Army of Lovers,
ABBA (is it supposed to write in capital lettres?),
Stakka Bo’s latest material and
some of Kent.

Anarem: Got no idea why I do not like Peter Forsberg. Maybe cause he is very good and aggressive and plays well against Canucks? I dunno :). But liked your Stefan Edberg rating :D.

I used to like Edberg a long time ago. I would have named Bjorn Borg instead but he was way before my time, and I was too young to see any of his matches. So I named Edberg. He wasn’t the greatest player in tennis, but he was the only Swedish tennis player I could remember watching.

Heh... I later rented Bjorn Borg videos and watched the matches. He was an awesome player indeed. I dunno why I like Edberg more though. I remember I cried when he was retiring. Oh good old tennis... I remember the days I used to wear tennis earrings, necklace and carry my tennis shoes and my tennis equipment anywhere I went. My life was tennis, swimming, Roxette and Queen. I miss it soooo much.

has anybody mentioned Caesar (formerly known as Caesar’s Palace)? I think they’re from Sweden, too and pretty cool. I just got another CD by them today

I´m amazed Buddaboys site is being run by Judith. Had no idea.
J, how are Joey Tempest albums? Are most tracks good/worth listen?

from the late 80´s: Lili & Susie ;)
I have their collection.

Ace of base and Anders Frisk football referee!!

Ingmar Bergman & Pernilla August. (The Best Intentions is in my top 3 all time favorite films.)

jepp, Minna designed www.Buddaboys.com and I have translated it from Swedish into English, Spanish and German and have been updating it, replying to emails etc etc since April :) (Just added some replies to the “Ask Buddaboys” :P)

It’s, of course, nice and a pleasure to work for the girls Eva (Dahlgren), Mija and Greta (Folkesson), they are nice gals :)

And Joey’s albums are great, they are all pretty different, the first one, A place to call home, is more acoustic, the 2nd, Azalea’s place, has quite some synths and the last one, Joey Tempest is more rocky. I think he is a great song-writer and singer, can’t wait for Europe’s comeback: album and tour, hearing Joey’s voice live must be great!!!!

Oh well, about hockey, the Swede Tommy Salo had a wonderful match yesterday on NHL... I just love it when Calgary beats Edmonton :DDDDD

Go Flames!!!! :p

*ABBA*.....~ACE OF BASE~....+THE CARDIGANS+ All are really enjoyable to listen too!

Abba

Frida

Agnetha

Ace Of Base

THE LONELY BOYS!!!

Kent
Eva Dahlgren
The Ark
Håkan Hellström
Henning Mankell ( I love his books!)
Anna Holt
Markus Näslund (of course a bit chickenswede, but I anyway like him)
Beck
Pippi Långstrump
Pelle Svanlös
Freddie Ljungberg
Niklas Lidström

I have forgot something...

LOL A Very Weird Question related to Army Of Lovers:

Has anyone here ever heard the album by

Pernilla Wahlgren “I Myself and Me”

How would you describe the music on it?
Who, except Bard, wrote songs for it?
I can’t even find the Tracklisting, and I never heard the album
Never really heard any of her music :( Did I miss alot?

@Santi:

Tommy Salo is a good goalie, but I still can’t forget the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, where Sweden was playing against Belarus, the puck bounced off Salo’s head... and into the net.

Haha ya!
Santi: Why do you like Flames??? I totally dislike them since they play so well and aggressively against Canucks. They get on my nerves.

Henning Mankell (writer)
Marianne Fredriksson (writer)
Marcus Allbäck (soccer player)

also Liza Marklund :)

Tommy Salo good? Well, look for statistics :)Brodeur and Kiprusoff rule! I like most Vancouver and Chicago. Vancouver has been my favourite NHL team for years and now I like it even more cos one of my fave players, Jarkko Ruutu plays there. Chicago is nice cos it’s one of the original six and one of the most talented guy in NHL, Tuomo Ruutu plays there.

I love:
ABBA and related artists Gemini, Josefin Nilsson, Agnetha and Chess
Roxette
Ace of base

Peter the great aka Foppa

Too many others to list. :)

Oh and Max Martin. Yes not an artist but so nice to hear the Swedish sound on American radio.

Wasn’t Max Martin in a Rock Band called “It’s Alive” before Dennis Pop recruited him? I think it was released by Cheiron.

What about a Swedish 80’s Pop Group called Freestyle/Style? Tommy Ekman was a member, before he started producing stuff for others. I never heard them, but They look like Cheesey 80’s Music.

Euro4Ever: check out It´s No Secret (or was it It´s A Secret?) by Style from 1988 or something. Very catchy.
cheers.

It has to be Jolanda in my school.
I’m crazy about that girl.

Lessee, other fave Swedes??

ABBA, The Sounds, Sahara Hotnights, The Merrymakers, Jenny Lofgren, Tommy 16, Erika, Lambretta, The Cardigans, Kent, The Hives, Backyard Babies, Soundtrack Of Our Lives, and er, Play (seriously, great pop music, and they are really cute!!)...I’ll think of more...

Mari: Ruutu rocks hahahha. I just love it when he sticks his tongue out. I love it. Cool to hear someone from Finland likes Vancouver :D.

By the way, I brought this thread back up since I have a question from a swede: Does anyone have any idea where Magnus Norman is?
