Does a Roxette Split seem obvious to anyone else?

Nah, they won’t quit. A likely reason to realease two compilation albums could have been to change record company. But since they are now with Capitol, a company that arranged them a US-release, I doubt that would be the reason.
Don’t be like MTV... Do you think if they wanted to quit Per would go for a promo tour alone? Don’t think so. Also, they wouldn’t bother with a US-comeback if they wanted to quit a month later...

Absolutely not!
Although “The *** Hits” would be a great end. Both P & M stated many times that they’ll never split off. Why should they? If they feel like that they release albums, go on tour or stay at home. They did only calm down a bit. For example didn’t go on extensive worldwide promo tours lately, so that they are able to have both family life and Roxette. Only reason to let Roxette die could be Marie’s health, but Per already confirmed it’s not the end for Roxette.
For them it’s pure fun! It’s pop music! It’s Roxette!!!

Fortunately, you don’t remember right, the deal they signed wasn’t for a certain number of albums, but rather for a certain period of time - 10 years! In this case, the contract’s apparently some sort of “output contract” since TWATG was the first album released with this contract and that being in 97, there are still five years left of this contract...
And when it comes to splitting, I gotta agree with Sascha: they’re having way too much fun doing this, so why should they stop?

No. Honestly not.
There´s still “The B-Side Hits” and “The Live Hits” to come.

Maybe there’s no “split” but once there’ll be a “stop” ........

erm excuse me? Dump “that guy”?
Are you referring to Per Gessle?
Without “that guy” there wouldn’t be a Roxette and you might never have found out that Marie has such a good voice.
I happen to love that guy. Roxette = Roxette.
If and when they decide to stop some day, which will be between now and about ten years imho, they’ll have left quite a legacy. Amongst others, thanks to “that guy”.

SPLIT is the wrong word to use.
Split implies that Per cannot work with Marie.
Retirement is more appropriate. I can only see them retire, not “split”. But I don’t think they are gonna retire anytime soon.

I’m not really sure if Roxette might split up, but I’ve been wondering why they released “Roxette - All Videos Ever Made” DVD video.
It says “Complete Video”, which means the complete video clips made, does that mean they won’t be making anymore video clips???
alchemiste said on November 22, 2002 04:54:
It says “The Complete Collection 1987-2001” which doesn´t tell anything about 2001-...

Hi Folks.
I have got serious reason to believe, that Roxette’s last CD ever is going to be the Hit CD with the Uptempo songs. If I remember right, some years ago, Roxette signed a record deal for I think it was 4 or 5 more Albums... how come Roxette is releasing so many Albums lately? I know it is not new stuff, but still classed as an Album. with the Uptempo Hits the deal would be finished, wouldn’t it? As Per and Marie like their Uptempo stuff better anyway (they have said it so many times, as too many Ballads are boring, according to Gessle), maybe they just want to leave the Music Business with a “Loud” Bang, release what they like best anyway and have more success with it than the Ballad stuff... and that’s it... Fact is, a lot of Bands that suddenly anounced it Quits beforehand released some sort of Greatest Hits. All this Ballad Hits and Uptempo Hits seems to me to kinda finish off the success of Roxette and call its quits. I am not trying to be negative or anything, this is just how I feel for a long time already... and the stuff about the English songs from Marie... maybe she is testing our reception of her own english songs, to see, if we would go out and actually buy her english solo stuff as well... I just somehow have got this strange feeling, that this might be the end of Roxette, I somehow feel, that this has been planed for quite sometime already, not just since the discovery of Maries Tumor...
by the way, has anyone heard if it was a good or bad one yet?
This is just my thoughts here about Roxette’s destiny...
am I really the only one who feels that way?
Cheers.
