Question 4 UK fans
Griesau said on November 16, 2002 12:09:
I’ve been hiding away in a cave for about a year now, ever since the last tour never reached our soggy shores. . .
So I know pretty much nothing about what’s happened in the past year.
Does anyone recon they’ll tour here again?

Hi Griesau,
Roxette have not toured in the UK since the CRASH! BOOM! BANG! tour in 94.
There have been some smaller performances throughout the years, most noteable are: Party in the Park in 99 (Roxette’s performance was never televised) and the BBC 2 Blackpool Show last year. But all these shows were shared with other artists.
They also toured some of Europe last year with their Room Service show.
Will they ever tour here again... who knows... my heart says yes, but my head says no. I don’t think they could ever hope to fill a large arena (such as Wembly) again in the UK. However, I sincerely believe they could fill smaller arenas of which there are many throughout the UK. I watched Gabrielle this year at the Cardiff International Area. It’s a small arena by Wembly’s standards, but it seats several thousand nicely. These are the type of venues I beleive Roxette should aim at.
There are plans to release some material in both the UK and US next year around Valentines Day. So there is hope....

Cheers for that. So basically nothings happening lol. I’m sure roxette could do well here, A couple of years ago I managed to get 5 of my mates into them in one week. You’re right they’d do well in smaller stages, it’s like building their way to as far as they can go. I mean if they started with say three or four dates in the uk, like, london scotland ireland and somewhere in the north england like manchester or summet then they’d see where their fans are. However there’s no point comin to the uk without at least a top 30 hit!
And the only way they’re gonna do that is coming out of the shadow of garath gates and atomic bloody kitten. There’s no point doing shows for radio 2, it’s only meeting half your potential target audience. After all, other than us on the website there probably isn’t a whole lot of true roxette fans out in the UK. So they need to stop going on shows that play one song of theirs in a week, and at least attempt to go the whole way.
It’s better to have tried and failed then lay forgotten on the floor in a dusty HMV warehouse.

im from uk too and am hoping that they do come over. I hope they come down to the Brighton center. it would be perfect! I also persuaded loads of my mates that roxette rox and we’re only 15/14 so I think they could do it. I think as rox fans we need to get them ’respected’ over here again and then they might come.
* also got my dvd today (all videos ever made). i am so glad i got. I have been hiding away for a while too, so was a great chance to catch up on them. my dad was laughing at me all the way through though... ;)

Hmmm, obviously there is still a few of us UKer’s round... :)
Can’t see it making Roxette come here again though!

I don’t think they are prepaired to put in the effort to gain the exposure here again.
With the same amount of work/touring/promotion they can make more money in Europe. We’re a little island with a finite number of fans.
It just doesn’t make sense to put in all that effort here for a smaller return.

Hello :-)
I’m from England, and a new member of the Roxette fan base. So far, I only have the “All Videos Ever Made & More!” DVD, which I bought earlier this year, although last night I ordered The Ballad Hits with the bonus EP. To be honest, I would have much rather waited and purchased it from a shop, although I didn’t want to risk not being able to get the EP. Slowly but surely, I’m going to build up my Roxette collection, and then move onto Marie’s solo career (I have listened to clips of some her tracks, and they’re fab)
I’d do anything to see Roxette in concert. And hopefully, if things go well with A Thing About You - but more importantly The Ballad Hits* - I think we could see Roxette including the UK in their long term plans. Perhaps not a full set of concerts, but simple things like releasing everything here.
* I believe it’s more important that The Ballad Hits do well, because this way they know people remember the older tracks, and still like them, whereas a Top 10 placement with A Thing About You could be perceived as being as important as a “one hit wonder”.
