Roxette in Australia

hello
I think most of the fans in OZ already know it but I-ll tell you anyway the ballad hits will be relased nov25 in oz. But wheres the promotion for it?
I have a dear friend whos visiting your country “the whole country” he has been there in some weeks now and he has only heard ltyh once. ONCE that sounds really bad why dosent EMI oz dont promote Roxette more or play other songs example Imhbl flaf simc matah and ofcourse their new song Atay it hasn´t been a single is OZ or have it?????
Another friend of mine David di troja saw an emi ad for dvd was rox on that ad ??
ofcourse NOT.....
Lets say the promotion for another arist. I guess Darren Hays the former Savage Grden member got much promotion when he released his first solo album Spin, maybe cause he hasnt have a long music carrier just 5-6 years. But Roxette have a music carrier since 16 years and both Per and MF had carriers before but we are fans so we know all about them...Back to Drren maybe he got so much promotion cause he´s Australian!! do the recordcompanies in OZ only promote their own artists? Anyway dont you think he´is a roxfan and had been inspierdof them? Savage Garden first single was named I want you and Roxette released a single with that title too 1987 “rock runt riket with Ratata Eva Dahlgren and Roxette”
and one of the other hits was called “too the moon and back” at the end of it its violines which sounds like they are taken from wicf soo i guess he´s a big fan.
but can someone anserw me about the promotion and recordcompany of roxette etc
WE WANT ROXETTE BACK
Ted

yes, ted roxette its a pathetic situation here in OZ, radio won’t play rox and EMI won’t promote them - what future do they have here?? My local radio station plays some of the older songs occasionally, but they’ve never played anything after the Joyride single??
I’m still hoping that the release of TBH in the US/UK will spark some interest in rox in OZ again.

Yes what I was refering to was that in the recent SAIN Magazine there was an ad for EMI DVD’s promoting all their recent releases excep1.... yep Roxette.
I want to ask emi what they are doing with their budget fror roxette, even a modest 10000 budget will buy you something. At least advertise them on your front page.
I just wish Per would fly down to oz and interogate them
Per you reading this. give emi a call they don;t spend a cent on promotion, except to send promos to radio stations. NOT A FAT CENT.

The bull shit about all this is the fact that the last hit I heard being played often on radio was Sleeping In My Car - that f^&%en almost 9 years ago! It literally makes me sick. And the fact that Oz radio kisses US and Uk butt, we unfortunately have no chance unless they do! I think however that Ballad Hits WILL be promoted a little - EMI won’t ignore a ’HITS’ package - especially if there’s lots of money in it for them. And believe you me, this album contains lots of hits for EMI. Those wanks!
Anyway. To you Mr G! It’s about time you got into action regarding Oz. We’ve done heaps for Roxette’s career in the past. You were ONCE the BIGGEST band in Australia for THREE YEARS in a row. You owe us something.

If Per came here like many other artists do, come here and do promotion for a few days, just do a few radio interviews and tv shows, it would give the new album a good kick up the bum! Is it that hard to really come here!!? EMI should realise the possible $$ they could make out of this album and try and organise a visit for Per.
About the DVD, has anybody else seen the DVD advertised on video hits like me a couple of weeks ago. Its was a competition for like 10 dvds or something and they did a close zoom and moved out from the Roxette DVD to show the others. Thats the promotion I’ve only seen :)
I remember to the good old days of Roxette topping the charts here, in magazines every week etc etc. But I have come to accept that those days are over, Roxette are never going to come near to that again, just accept that. But this compilation cd should go well, if its promoted correctly.

yes i saw the dvd on video hits too. i taped that episode and was fast forwarding thru the competition when i saw the dvd flash up and thought hang on, that was the dvd wasnt it!?! but thats the nearest thing to promotion for rox in the last few years ive seen. I will admit tho that the dvd was fairly well stocked in some stores that i visited - that is more than one copy on the shelves (well thats good for Oz at the moment!)
RobS said on November 17, 2002 05:41:
yeah i saw that on VideoHits as well. i was really surprised. That must be all that EMI could get with the promo budget they get for Rox ;-)
@di troia - you mean EMI does actually send promo CDs to radio stations, i never would have thought that!
It really is sad that SIMC was rox’s last hit here. What is wrong with EMI that they won’t promote them?? if they can’t even put a pic of the DVD on a magazine ad, what chance is there of some decent print ads or tv ads for TBH??
I really, really hope that this album does well, coz who know what will happen to future releases if it doesn’t.
PS. It seems all us aussie’s have the same strong feelings towards EMI and the way they (don’t)promote Roxette.

So TBH is out in Australia. Anybody seen it in the stores yet?
I havent, asked 2 big retailers who told me it was released on the 25th Nov but havent ordered it in yet. Not a good sign so far, lets hope things change quickly.

Haven’t looked to be honest, ordered it from OS to make sure I got the EP....
I’m heading out at lunch to day, so I guess I can stop in HMV in Melbourne to have a look.
RobS said on November 27, 2002 09:47:
i got my copy from amazon.com for the EP, but i haven’t looked at local stores yet, maybe tomorrow? I normally had to ask for albums to be ordered - so i really doubt i’ll see any copies on show :(
BTW breathe is a great song :)

Well it could follow the same path as DBUGTTC. I bought DBUGTTC in December 95 for $16. but it only picked up steam around May 96, where it was sold for $29.
Same could happen here.

Well TBH is not to be found anywhere in Melbourne.......
Well at least I have my internet connection and a credit card!!!!
rezmad said on November 13, 2002 22:18:
Whoa, let me get this straight....
Roxette was actually PLAYED on Australian radio?
Well I’ll be damned...
In all seriousness, I think I have heard Roxete played here about 4 times in the past 3 years, and only ever The Look, or Listen To Your Heart.
The only other ’public broadcasting’ I have heard is in Melbourne’s Crown Casino where I have heard Crush On You, 7 Twenty 7, Real Sugar and Jefferson played as background music.
That’s ’bout it. The only promotion/mention I have seen has been a paragraph in the music section of a major news paper when Room service was released, and another paragraph after Marie’s recent misfortune.
And unfortunately, unless Roxette are able to break into the US and/or UK charts again, this situation will not change.
