A thing about you charts?

So, how has ATBY charted so far over the world??

You could say it’s a bit of a flop since...

Germany: #37
Austria: #39
Switzerland: #35
Sweden: #14

These are the sales charts so if someone calls it a big hit or a no. 1 single it’s only due to airplay (which is not a real hit-defying method)

that’s no flop!

Here is a list of all the sales charts positions of ATAY (which I know ;)):

In Belgium it peaked at #39 and in Denmark at #38

My own personal charts:

It’s been fighting for the #1 spot with “The Weight Of The World”

Of course, my own chart doesn’t mean squat ;o)

@ animalkingdom – hmmm, I assume you meant to say that radio airplay charts are not a real hit-DEFINING method? If so, I have to take issue with that. So you’re implying that a song that goes top 5 on a ton of major radio stations (not to mention #1 on almost 20 stations so far) throughout Europe, is still not a hit just because it didn’t sell all that well? I don’t think that’s true and here’s why. Ask yourself this… who buys the majority of singles? Well, in the US, the prime music purchasing demographic is young people (18-25 or so). I can only assume something similar is true of Europe. If you look at the sales charts, you’ll see that most of the bands at the top are the ones geared toward that demographic (eminem, spears, hip-hop, etc). I submit that while Roxette may have a lot of young fans, the average age of their fan base is much older than many of these groups, meaning that many of these people are not buying a lot of singles. A prime example of this was the age diversity in the crowds at the Sweden concerts last year. I saw people from age 10 to 60 in the audience. But when you take a look at the radio charts, you see ATAY kicking ass on those teen acts left and right. Plus, as Gellner has stated many times, the way these sales charts are generated is subjective at best as purchases at certain shoppes count for more on the charts than to others. Granted, radio is not the only way to measure success, but if you ask me, it’s a much better barometer than the sales charts.

in Belgium ATAY dropps to #45 (#42) this week :(

In Brazil ATAY is at #64 this week. Last week it was #71.
