The first time

Hi all!
I think it’s great that Roxette has been around for more than 15 years now! I first saw them on Swedish TV singing Listen to yor heart. I think it was in 1988. I liked it a lot so the next day I asked my dad to buy the Look Sharp tape for me. I have been a fan ever since...
Can you remember the first time you saw or heard them?

The first time I listened to Rox was in the house of a friend, when I was 12. We were bored, so we decided to listen to music, and she had a copy of the “Joyride” album in a tape (the second half of the “Perfect Day” song was missing because there was no enough space on the tape). I FELL IN LOVE with “Fading like a flower”.
So I made a copy of the tape and started to listen to it again and again in my walkman...I still feel something very special when I listen to that record, which turned me into a huge Rox fan (for the rest of my life).

The very first time I ever heard one of their songs was when I was delivering Newspapers on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I was 13 years old and this guy came driving up the road in his car, windows open and Joyride was blasting out of his stereo...
but two years later, when How do you do became Number 1 in Germany, I became a huge fan... half a year later I bought the Roxette CD’s from my sister... she had Tourism and two singles... this is how everything started... today I have got more than 60 different Roxette CD’s and Roxette related stuff... I just love em! Love ’em ter bits!!! :-) Especially Marie I find to be such a cool character!!

The first time I noticed Roxette, was back in 89 when I was on holiday in Italy. I often heard The look and Listen to your heart. Back in Austria I saw them the first time on TV ... Dressed for success. I can remember .. I wanted to know who they are and wanted to buy their CD, but my English was so bad then, so I wrote “Rock sad” instead of Roxette :)
Since then I’ve been a huge fan of Roxette, now I’m almost 25 years old, and I don’t think, that anything could happen to change my mind!

first time I heard them was the second i was born. obviously i can’t remember that though. the first memory I do have (I think) is ’sleeping in my car’ when we were travelling on holiday to cornwall. at the time i didn’t understand what it was about and thought it was so funny that i had actually been sleeping in my car and then my dad put the song on! he then put on ’crashing guitars’ which made me think the band was a bit odd! since then i stole my dads tape which had about 5 songs on (joyride, fading like a flower, church of your heart, smalltalk etc) and kept that in my room but didn’t know anything about the band. A few months ago they were on TOP OF THE POPS in the uk performing ’the look’ and i recognised it, fell in love with Per and the music, and have been obsessed ever since! My band has even learnt Cinamon street for me just to make me relax!!!

I can’t really remember the first time I heard them.. but I know the first time i paid attention to them was when Crash Boom Bang Came out, and I bought it out of curiosity more than anything. I played it and Harley’s and Indians grabbed me by the guitar strap and away we went..
I didn’t become a ’loyal’ fan though til I met a couple of other fans and began through them to explore Gessle’s other music, such as GT, and solo stuff.. and the rest of Roxette’s stuff.
I think I like them mostly cause their stuff is ’feel good’ music to me... plus it’s easy for me to sing and do covers of :).

Well, I heard “The Look” on the radio, back in 89, and I really liked it, that was my first time. But when I heard “Listen To Your Heart” on a Brazilian soap opera soundtrack (also in 89) I went crazy... and now I’m a HUGE ROXETTE FAN... and I’ll always be !!! By the way, I was 12 years old back than... now I’m 25 !! :)
Roxette is my life !! :)
All the best
