FKN ANGRY!

OK, maybe the title is a bit too harsh, but i got your attention...
A small discussion started on RML about the new CD protection technology behind it....
I played it on my CD player and that is alright...
I even tried it on my PC where it should actually fail and no problems...
HOWEVER, I tried it in my poor discman and it wouldn’t stop jumping and moving about!! I haven’t tried the car yet but it surely won’t work... a fkn nuisance!! I carry my discman around EVERY DAY and I can’t listen to it? I wanted to but myself the Ballads with the EP for myself and give my mother the regular CD, and now I can’t?? She loves Roxette’s ballads and for the first time when she can have it all in one piece, original, she can’t play it?? This is NOT what I have paid for.... I am really angry and frustrated.
I’ll have to take my Roxette collection and burn all ballads into a CDR... and that is exactly what Roxette/EMI wanted to avoid... I already have a CD which was given to me, and I therefore won’t buy it...even if i don’t get the EP... I’ll burn those too...
It is not fair on those who listen to music other than on a regular home stereo...
PowerHits to be a normal CD please...

roxchurch - good argument. I never thought about that fact - that TCs never ruined the music industry - just that it was bad bad music!

WIth cassettes you could never “share” a song with 100 people all around the world, as you can with KazaA for example (just 24 hours...). I think the problem is bigger than what you think and worldwide situation is not the same as when cassettes ruled everything.
I think you should change your discman at once... because it has to be kind of old... I think. In mine it works perfectly ok.
Asking to keep “easy to copy” CDs because your stereo is old is like saying you want every petrol station to offer three-star petrol because you have an old car...

With this I am not saying that protecting this CD is not a very stupid thing, since most songs are already out! I mean, with a new one it’s ok, but what’s the point in protecting a greatest hits...?? ...still wondering :| :/

@Santi: I really believe all the songs on the album are already out.
Many people already have Breathe, for instance.
Take care, friends.

Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out the point of this copy protection when the old songs have been available on the Internet for years now and the new ones are also now available.

The copy protection is absolutely pointless imho.
They want to stop albums from being shared on internet , but I already found plenty of sites with TBH.
The only people that it affects is regular consumers , average people. It just makes them upset , and that’s not the right strategy.
I think Philips the co-creator of cd-format want all the discs with any kind of protection on it to be not able to carry cd logo. They say if it doesn’t play in every cd player then it can’t be considerd a compact disc. Finally somebody thinking straight.

Santi– i can copy the cassete to mp3 either, isn’t it???
and also–i don’t thing that the EFFECTIVE CD protection technology is possible–if you can listen something you can recorded it...
the antiprotection technology always be 1 step forward...

good point– ppl even said that:
======================
ambrasjes:
What I still don’t get is that the 4-track bonus EP does work, it even has it’s own player on pc. The ballad hits cd theirfor stays mute, just the sound of my cd-romplayer skipping fills my room
=======================
and also-i spend a lot of time in my work– i have only a PC there- no cd player.... so i want to play it with normal Windows CD player software!!!!
or i must buy a CD player for every room in which i may be during the day???

i actually tried it on a CDR-CDRW-MP3 discman my brother has... maybe that makes the difference...

CD protection technology is such a stupid invention-
before 15-20 years than most of albums were realize on audio cassete- you can copy it how many times you want– but did it kills music industry– nooooooo... cos then the music company produced great music...
Now they use pirate only as an excuse for their problems—comon ppl –produce only good musician..-that is the decision of you problems..
and please change you stupid DISTRIBUTION POLITIC- cos i spend tooooooo much money for delivery of CD-s – i know whats is right, but this is so WRONG..
In the matter of fact EMI sells in my country only audio tapes!!!– no CD ,no singles..
So i will pay less money for album –and i can copy it— but the only thing that i want is the full CD album with high quality without probs :-(((
PowerHits to be a normal CD -AVAILABLE all over the world—— please...!!!!
