Dear Rox-fans,
I’ve decided to completely re-new my Roxette fansite. I have just uploaded a beta version, and I would like you to go there and check it out. There are some brand new ideas and I would like to hear your opinion about it.
The site is available at http://www.pietroxette.com - you’ll have to click on the image that says v6 (that stands for Version 6.0 - since this is the 6th version of the site since it’s launch in early 1999. The opening screen is a temporary one, I just made something quickly to be able to upload the rest of the site. So enter the site by clicking on v6.... and please, tell me your opinion about it. I need your advices, suggestions - and basically everything what you think about it.
There’s a brand new section called store.pietROxette.com, where I’ve created a virtual store where you can find everything released by Roxette, Marie and Per. It’s still under construction, but you can browse the site - and buy the albums you’re missing. The webstore is located at http://store.pietroxette.com .
Thanks for your time - and for your feedbacks.
Pietro

Hey, Pietro, here I am, Luiz Fernando from Brazil.
I´ve visited your site and my first impression was very good.
Your idea of put options to the Roxette fans buy the missed items is fantastic.
A download section is always welcome. The green look of the site is also beautiful.
Well, may I suggest a thing to you? If you put a forum in your site, it would be very cool.
As a Roxette fan, I think a big Roxette site has to be many uploads with the latest news. I´m sure you will get it if the fans have the oportunity to send you reports, breaking news etc...
I deserve the best there is to you in your new project.
I was missing your site, it´s very good to know it is back. :-)
Best wishes from Brazil, my Hungarian friend.

I personally would prefer something more conventional, and I dislike popups, I even use Opera to disable the popups. But I do like the color and the organization.
I hope you dont get mad because I said that :)

i don’t like this new desing......... i prefer old one........... but imho.......

I prefer the old version!
Of course, the new one is good but the old one is more beautiful!
Size of the page is not good!... so small! Make it normal! If you do this, maybe it will be as beautiful as the old version! MAYBE of course!

I really like the design, but I prefer a ordinary size window instead of the popup. But the new design is better than the older, anyway.
Also in the bio, instead of:
| Previous Next |
I think it should be:
Previous | Next
Or a scroll...
Well, that was what I think...

Hi!
It looks nice!
But maybe also add Gyllene Tider? Especially in discography and store.
Furthermore, a singles-diecography?
Colin.

Much better, Pietro!
Wish new Roxbytes design will be similar, so they really can be associated together.
As for the store - why only Marie albums, not a box ?
And isn’t it a right time to add other languages (Russian ? - hehe ;)) - coz all are to be redesigned...
P.S. - as for other language versions, a good idea would be to give links for local inet-services in store section for that countries..
P.P.S. - as for discography - must be either a complete (with all singles at least) or better just to give links to discography sites. But I may help with making a full discography there - as so as ultimate.roxette.org isn’t updating anymore we need another good site with discography...
P.P.P.S. - lol :)
Pietro - that windows with text as graphics is fine of coursem but for example I can’t load pictures at work (many modem users disble it themself) - better to use CSS v2 to have the same view, but as a text - so even in old browsers it could be viewed...

The size of the popup window gives the site a nice touch..... but it’s, unconfortable.
and i agree too with the Previous|next clicks... they have to be one next to the other.

Nice site but I also prefer non-pop ups, as Steven, I like the site to fill all my screen :P
but for the rest, nice worK :)

Hi, like the way the information is orginised but would like to have the top part where the bio, lyrics, downloads, ect. is, in a seperate frame so that that part don’t load everytime I click on something.
I would like to see the hyperlinks in another colour so that I know that I can click there
in the about page, what about a picture of you!
All Videos Ever Made And More (DVD) is also available at www.kalahari.net

Thank you all for your comments, it was very nice to read them. Let me answer some of them.
The reason why I’ve put the main site into a pop-up window because I wanted to put the page in a rectangular frame, I didn’t want to leave any space empty. This way the site looks like an interactive presentation or slideshow: all pages are of the same size. I don’t really like scrollbars, I think it’s the clearest when you can display the information you want on one screen, without the need to scroll down. The easiest way to solve this was to create a fixed-size window, so it doesn’t matter what resolution someone is using.
I’ve created this version of the site using only images - so one page is one image. I did that because I was fed up with Verdana or Arial, I wanted to use a font that’s not that conventional. I used Trebuchet MS, which is not so conventional and might not be installed on several computers. Also, when using pictures, you can use smooth fonts so the texts looks way better that way. I know this solution makes downloading a bit longer, but nowadays most people have broadband connection - and a 30-40 K picture should download relatively fast using 56K modems.
I’m now working on a text-only version of the site for those with very slow connection. But since many of you’d like to have a full-screen version of the site, I’m going to use a low graphics version besides the text-only version that would have some graphics, but the textual content would be plain text.
I’m not planning to add a forum to the site, we have TDR SmallTalk, so why open another forum? Neither will I offer news. The situation is the same: TDR has all the news, I don’t see the point of copying news from TDR and insterting them on my site. I will definitely have a link to TDR, but that’s all. I’m trying to concentrate on things other sites don’t have instead.
Gyllene Tider discography will follow, till it’s ready I’ve linked gyllenetider.com there.
Other languages: well, with the old site I used to send all the texts from the site in a word document to volunteers who then translated them and typed the texts in their native language and sent the file back to me. Then, I created all single html pages in that specific language. Now that requires an awful lot of time, I can’t do that any more. However, I made it a bit easier to make the site in a different language. I’ve created all the images using PhotoShop, so I have all the psd files that can be edited. Whoever wants to help me make the site in his/her language and knows some photoshop (well, basically it’s enough to have it, it’s very easy to use) just drop me an e-mail. I can send the psd files, which would be directly edited by the translator and sent back to me. I would only need to create gifs from the psd files, without touching the html pages, since they’d remain the same for all language versions. I know it’s a bit complicated, but it’s the easiest for me. I’d love to have my site in as many languages as possible, however, I don’t have time to manually make them all myself.
The store - just like the main site - is under construction, so you can expect a lot more stores to be linked. It’s all just a question of time...
Thanks again for your comments so far. I’m still open to any suggestions. And if you have some free time and Photoshop - and want to help me to make the site available in your langauge as well, just drop me an e-mail! Thanks ;-)

Hej count on me for translating into Spanish and/or Catalan. I know of photoshop so it´s just about editing the file :P

@piet: Maybe you are sick of Arial, Verdana, Times, Trebuchet MS but man.. don’t you think mainting an “image-based” website might become a problem??
Btw... I am a web designer too so I might be joining ya in URDU language website.

Thank you all for your offer to make the translation of pietroxette.com. As soon as I come up with a more or less complete version, I will e-mail you.
I sn’t think maintaining an image-based site would be more difficult than a full html-based one. OK, might be a bit more complicated, but the result worths the effort.

@ Pietro:
Great to see some colour back in your site Pietro ;)
I really like the new design. That shocking green goes well with your chunky rounded text and tasteful use of graphics.
Even though there’s not much uploaded at the moment I can see the vast potential that you site will ultimately offer. You’ve obviously worked very hard on this.
My only constructive comments would be that I’m not a fan of sites that use small forced windows. I’m the type of person that buys BIG monitors and like to see sites fill em.
Aside from that mate... keep up the GREAT work!
