Single Release - Canada

Are they releasing the single in Canada? It was supposed to be out last week but I haven’t been able to get it yet. HMV doesn’t even sell the single apparently. Virgin doesn’t have it either. They are like oh it’s not in our system. Does anyone know why the hell?!?!?!

Roxette commercial singles are never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever released in Canada anymore (not since “Sleeping in my Car”). I know that HMV had a promotion in which they gave out a Canadian version of the “Wish I Could Fly” remix maxi single, but this was a promotional single only, and you were only supposed to be able to get it by buying “Have a Nice Day.” If you do find a Roxette single in Canada, it’s an import, and it has nothing to do with EMI Canada... each record store can order imports at its own discretion (most will only import from the UK, but sometimes the big chain stores get Dutch copies). None of this is to say that certain Roxette singles aren’t shipped to radio and video stations... “WICF,” “Stars,” “TCOTH” and “M&T&H” were all “singles” here in that radio and video were given the songs to air... not that many of them did! Does that clear it up?

Hey... “the centre of the heart” single was released in Canada. So were “real sugar” and “milk and toast and honey” but they were special orders.

@irvye: No, they were available only as imports. If you consider imports to be releases, then all of Marie’s solo albums, as well as Per’s and Gyllene Tider’s albums were released here, because you can find them at the big Sam the Record Man in downtown Toronto, or order them through HMV!

I had bought HAND CD way before the promotion of the single in Vancouver. I got the single for free when I went to HMV one day. I just asked the guy why I didn’t ... and he said: Noone is buying the CD so you can have this single for free.
I bought Centre of the HEart single at the VIrgin almost as expensive as the CD itself.
I have not yet seen a trace of other singles.
Didn’t they say the single was to be released worldwide?!?! It’s funny how North Americans think they’re the world and how European think we don’t even exist here.

@roxtexanet.
I could be wrong... with Real Sugar and Milk and Toast and Honey it said “import” or “special order”under it. It didn’t say that for Centre of The Heart, so I just assumed that meant it was released here. Oh yeah... all this is through HMV.com too.

My guess is Canada will go for a Valentine´s Day single release if the US market does.
