ATAY in Portugal, yep.

So guess what, I’ve got the single already. Got it yesterday but it’s been available since Monday, which means it was released on the 14th. That’s something new...
I was expecting to see it only on the 21st but got curious and went to the shop to see if it was there and it was :)
It gets even WEIRDER after hearing that Spain will only get it on the 21st. Isn’t the Spanish Roxette market bigger than PT’s? Oh well, maybe EMI Portugal is up to something.
Still no signs of it on the radio though...
On a side note, I think TWOTW could have been a great song if it was well produced. I’m not sure if this isn’t just a demo. It’s too weak. I mean, it sounds good, particularly when Marie sings her part but overall it lacks some building up. It’s like it was recorded at once or something...

In fact RFM is, according to what I had been informed by them, playing ATAY since last Monday already, the 14th, the single release date here, yes. (Which was indeed no less of a surprise as I myself wasn’t expecting the single would be released here at all. After all looking back to the lucky (not!) we got with RS’s ones...) But not only RFM is playing the song by now! Also both Rádio Capital, since a week too, and Rádio Cidade, this one since early this month, both being aswell top audience national stations, have too ATAY in their playlists already. :) And in quite nice rotation I’d dare to add. :) Not that nowadays I care listening that much to the radio anyways but. At least everytime I turn it on ATAY just seems to always be there somewhere... :P Well, it’s either that, or I have a guessing finger which always knows when it’s the right moment to click the power button on. :P But indeed, I don’t think I recall hearing so much Roxette on the radio, and the one same song, in such enthusiastic airplay, since HAND days, and WICF and Anyone...
By the way, aside of that, thought this line might be interesting to share? When I wrote to one of these stations, in case it being Rádio Cidade, asking whether ATAY was already in its playlist, I got this for the answer: “So I see you have good taste. The new single of Roxette is indeed very good, and yes, the song is already playing here.” *stupefied* And how about that!? *chin up and showing the everytime hidden pride for being a Roxette fan*

It’s really curious to see the acceptance they’ve been slowly getting. I do hope the GH album makes its way to the tops. The DBUGTTC album still holds the record of their most sold album in Portugal. :))

Yeah. Topping at #1 in the week of release and going gold right the week after, which didn’t take too long to turn platinum, plus managing to keep in the sales top 30 for something as 7 months in a row, guess it just mustn’t be for everyone I suppose... :) So fingers crossed for TBH now, you bet! Even coz I sure missed to see RS on those sales charts. :(

In English, in English, please! ;) Or if japeke catches us... ;P (BTW japeke, let me take the chance for saying that I 100% agree with you, that everyone should try as much as possible to keeping threads in English, so that aswell everyone is able to read them, yes, definitely.)
But now that you bring that up, WICF being a top favourite in the radio here, and that here Roxette are pretty much associated to ballads, which, concerning the Portuguese market, if in one hand makes you believe that TBH has it all to become a success, on the other hand has you doubtful on how well TPH will possibly manage, well, all I can reply to it is that the last Roxette songs (excluding ATAY obviously plus the above mentioned WICF :P) I heard on the radio, and all of them just this very last dozen of days, were: “Spending My Time”, “How Do You Do!”, “Joyride”, “Fading Like A Flower”, “It Must Have Been Love”, “Church Of Your Heart”, “Sleeping In My Car” and “Listen To Your Heart”! :) So I’d dare saying that, yes, if it appears as a reality that here Roxette have always been mostly regarded for their ballads, which I aswell agree, yes, no less a reality it is that their pop songs seem to remain no less in good memory too. :) After all, hey, only half of DBU-GTTC! were ballads, and look at how great it’s done... :)

Update: Actually, the song IS playing on the radio, at least on RFM since today, the most listened to radio in the country for people between 20-40 (i.e. Roxette’s main target). They’ve always shown great support for Roxette and play their songs regularly. I guess they waited for the single to come out to start airplaying it.
Cool :)
