ATAY in the UK LOL

Went into HMV on friday and they don’t have it listed as a new release on 14th of October.....so left the shop pretty sharpish ;) crossed the road ....went into Virgin megastore......the woman checked her list it wasn’t listed but she said ......wait for it..... “She has been ill so maybe they’ve put the single release back a few weeks”
Well......atleast she’s kept up with the news.....she also said to go and check on monday as they’ll have an updated release list.

Why is it....I feel like such a plank when I go in these stores and ask about Roxette?? ;) does anyone else get the same feeling ? ;)

I’ll be checking BBC radio 2’s web site on monday for their airplay list just incase ;)

You’re not alone, Vix. And you’ve done me a favour, cheers... been meaning to ask if/when we’ll get it :) I’ll ask again at a few of the bigger stores down the West End in the week... Not that they’ll know!

I’m just pleased I don’t have to ask for ’Love Peas’! Hehehe!

With Stars and a few others, I actually preordered before any information was known! Was told as soon as they knew it was coming out, I would be phoned... and they did phone! :)

I’ll not bother this time around though. Wait until the week before, all being well.

Virgin megastore did say that they could import it for me.....but I’m not sure how long they take to do that so I’ll prolly end up ordering from sweden.

Still not on BBC Radio 2’s playlist.....for this week anyway.

I sent an e-mail to EMI UK about a month ago. I was amazed to get a reply the next day...until i opened it. It was an automated response that said they would answer my query as soon as possible.....i’m still waiting. I think its pretty predictable what’lll happen next. The single wont get a release, and a couple of weeks before the album release EMI might decide to put the european version of the album on limited sale. It wont even be displayed as a new release in a lot of shops, and it will bearly make the Top 200? Sound familiar? I suspect we’re in for another dose of the Room Service saga....call me a pessimist, but I have grown to suspect nothing better from EMI UK

I have sent an email to Marie Dimberg asking her what is happening in the UK - I too am still waiting for a reply, which is a shame, as usually she gets back to me pretty quickly.

Guess it is doomed here in the UK.

And yeah, Roxette are performing The Look on TOTP2 on Wednesday.

BTW....couldn’t be arsed to go to HMV nor Virgin today as it seemed a pointless operation ;) went to the pub instead as it was a better way to spend a lunch hour! :P

>looks at above posts

Don’t worry, EMI Argentina has no plans to release the single on the radio. Believe it or not, the video hasn’t played anywhere...

lets look at the plus side. 2 more greatest hits collections = 2 less albums on the Roxette contract (does anyone know how many were on their contract to start with), and they will be free of this shambles we call EMI uk.

Maybe I am wrong (you tell me) but I think by going intro music stores and “asking” for Roxette is also a kind of promotion (ofcourse on a low level). If we tell them about Rox releasing some brand spanking new stuff (in this case “A Thing About You”) and the order a couple of copies and put ’em up on the shelf then perhaps people will try ’em. What do you say guys?

Zee

Hej Vix at least they know who Roxette are! ;)

@zee - unfortunatley it doesn’t happen like that here ;) although..... Ballad Hits will probably sell a few copies due to the fact that IMHBL is on it.

I dont know how to contribute to this thread...lol. I can see myself going into a store and ignore ’A Thing about you’ in the new singles section, thinking its a mirage...roflol :D
Vix how could you torture us poor souls in the UK with such a thread? :)

thats why its got an LOL at the end of it ;)

LOL!!!!!!!!

;)

Zee

I hope they do, Someone told me that ATAY may be releaced on 28th, or not at all,but Ballad hits will deffinitly be releaced in uk! Touch Wood!

Is this a familair situation with other UK Rox fans...?

1. You suspect the new Rox single will not get released here so you buy off the internet.

2. Some weeks later, the new single is actually released here and so you buy one just for the novelty of buying new Rox material from your local music store.

3. Excitement and total hysteria takes over you and you buy multiple copies from you local store in the veign attempt to push Roxette in the UK top 40.

This is my story for the last 6 single releases... does this happen to other UK fans? If so, Roxette are milking a bloody fortune from us ;)

@ steven: That’s why you gave away singles at some contests on roxette.net??? ;-)
JAAP

ROFLMFAO! ehehe!

yeah, that’s me too steven. Trying really hard to get other people th buy the single too...but because they haven’t heard it on the radio - they don’t know if they will like it or not!

I still maintain that I don’t think there wil be any more releases in the UK. I think that if we get a release here it will be just imports of the German or Dutch release. EMI UK manufacturing at Swindon will not be pressing any new Roxette CDs for the UK - that I am sure of!

*sniff*

@steven - exactly the same happens to me ;) only I just know its not going top 40 ;) and then I spend the next 6 months trying to flog uk editions of the single i’ve got 10 copies of ;)

@only - I thought that cd plant at Swindon was shut now? Probably cheaper to make cds abroad anyways.

Just received a text message from a friend. his mum heard ’A Thing About You’ on radio 2, this evening.
Radio 2... but still, BRING IT ON!!!!

coolies!!! OMG!!! great!

Maybe she heard I wish I could fly... as they sound so simillar according to some people :DDDDD

does this means ROXETTE is becoming “HISTORY”?

Zee

grrrrr! why so negative, hmm??

Nope. Was defo ATAY!
His mum knows Roxette, and has WICF on a mixed tape he did her in her car. She has never heard ATAY. It’s the only Rox song she hasn’t heard... til today that is!

Great!!!! “A THING ABOUT YOU” IS IN THE UK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Checked the play list for radio 2, it’s not there. All I can think is, she is telling porkies... or was on another radio station. Will phone her tomorrow.. and get her to hum it! LOL!

Oh my! You are so lucky!!!

Argentina: Nothing, absolutely nothing.

I’ll listen to Radio 2 at work today......but for the last 4 days I’ve not heard anything.
Steve Wright is you’re best bet for hearing anything Rox ;)

i e-amil virgin megastores and they said that until further notice, atay is not gonna be releaced in the UK! I emailed HMV and i see what they’d say!

This about sums it up in one email!!!!!

Dear Vixz,

Thank you for your recent email addressed to Cathy Cremer regarding Roxette.

I have checked the release schedule for Roxette and there are no plans at
the moment for any releases.

Thank you for taking the time to write.

Best wishes.

BTW......I listend to Radio 2 all day today.....and guess what...........they didn’t play it ;)

HI Vixzter, Here’s what I would write to EMI UK.

Well you Limey Bastards I hope you’re happy, cos I know I am. EMI is a sinking ship and instead of Trying to save it, you’re putting more holes in it. First EMI USA goes down in flames. Then you sign Mariah Carey to a Multimillion dollar contract she has no ability of fullfilling, but at least you promote it, she was only successful cos she maried Tommy Matola, (who has a new bride who is a singer). Then you must release her from her contract and pay her out.

Then you fire a 3rd of your staff (just like EMI USA), make cutbacks, and hurt the artists on your label for your mistake. Then not learning from your mistake you sign Robbie Williams to a 200 Million Plus contract. An “artist” who probably hasn’t got another 2 bestselling albums in him. So now the ship is beginning to keel, you make more cutbacks, but it’s a vicous cycle, because, YOU NEED TO SPEND MONEY TO PROMOTE ARTISTS!

So Meanwhile there is a band, they have remained successfull thoughout the years, have a loyal fanbase, and in turn are loyal to EMI, (VERY RARE), but you continue, to keep them locked in Steerage while, everyone else gets on a lifeboat or jumps ship.

Finally the RMS EMI/Capitol (WHATEVER, you can’t hide your past mistakes behind a good name), will get rescued by Bertlesman or Time Warner, and they fire most of your staff realising they are incompetent twits who have survived by blowing the boss.

Then Maybe, Roxette will have a chance. But they will never have a chance, with EMI.

So why don’t you start the pumps working and try to help some of your lesser recognised artists.

Meanwhile I watch you sink with a bittersweet look on my face, and boy will we party when you go down.

Now F#ck off and do some work

Hows that?

Dave

P.S. you could always buy a copy of ATAY for me :)

LOL

serveral emails like have crossed my mind but I’m taking my anger management pills ;) *roflol*

It would be a waste of my bandwidth to send them any more emails.......so....Rox are no longer in the UK.....more of an exscuse to go to Sweden! :P

Wow, I think we have found our UK Roxette fans representative.

yeeeaaaah! GO VIX! GO VIX!! :)

@ditoria: Didja get any reply?????? :) GO man gooo!!!!!!!!!

Zee

Lessee. This is usually how I do it: Go to MediaPlay.com website. Check periodically for the ability to import something of Roxette’s from them. Get it, about 4 weeks later, it appears on the shelves, and keeps selling out.

hhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Gimme their Email Address and I’ll send that.

Dave

The way to hurt EMI UK is to boycott Robbie Williams......that will be my silent protest as all email complaints will fall on deaf ears.....if you must listen to Robbie then download his stuff coz that will anoy EMI more! :P
Oh and file share his stuff with the whole world so as they don’t have to buy it!

Do they even like Robie? I am sorry I am not in UK so have no clue about Robie’s fame there?? I know he is NOT big here in my region (Asia).

Zee

robbie is huge here in the UK - and has just signed the biggest record deal in UK history - worth 80 Million pounds!

robbie just thinks he’s some kind of sex god or something, but he isn’t but Per is!

Robie sux!!!!!!
and Per Sex God!?? maybe in JoyRide or C!B!B! days not anymore :(

Zee

he still is! trust!

So Per is in London these days (the SIMC story). Maybe he’ll visit the EMI headquarter and clear up some things...

he should do!

Maybe he won’t bother coz he knows they’re a bunch of tossers!

I spent 4 years working in Our Price, Virgin Megastores and V-Shop as a merchandise orderer.
It is down to the Record Company if they want to even release the material to the stores in the first place. Then it is the music stores Head Office that make the decision as to whether they will grade that artist and song so that the individual stores can order it.
Once when a Roxette song came out, head office sent us one copy to sell and then Sku Blocked it - which means you can order no more copies because it wont sell!!!!
My advice is to go to the really big stores because they have more buying power and have access to more record labels...ask to speak to the actual merchandise buyer because the sales assistant can only tell you what they see on the computer infront of them...trust me i’ve trained them! The buyer if they are sympathetic will try and track down a copy although it may be more expensive like £6-7.
One thing i noticed is that Virgin and Our Price always send a copy of new Roxette stuff to the stores in Ireland because it sells there...ring them up and ask them to transfer you a copy, if they have one, over to your nearest store..this is a free service and its called good customer service..just remind them of that gently.
Any Questions...

Yea ...... but we want more than one copy ;) its not going to be released here anyway......well not according to EMI anyway.
