The file size is 75 Mb so I don’t think many people will download the song :-) The TV4-version is good enough.

Well, if there would be a DVD single announced, Roxbytes would never offer this download. But the mpg1 file on the Single is too bad quality compared to this svcd.
As far as I have seen singles, the most used format is Quicktime, which sucks like hell. You have to install special software, the file is quite big, and the quality bad. Some are using mpg-format, which is a lot better than Quicktime. But the resolution is still too less and not satisfying. Music industry should understand and put svcd or higher quality mpeg2 files on the singles, they would sell much more singles for sure.
And this is a TV rip, so everyone who has Music TV channels is able to record musicvideos. A musicvideo is like a promotion for a song in my opinion.

1) The video remains on RoxBytes till the single is released. We don’t have ANYTHING on the site that’s officially released.

2) Non-rox fans don’t know a thing about RoxBytes. They don’t even know it exists, or, if they had found it somehow, probably would be not that happy to have audience recordings or following like 4 links to find a video. And fans will buy the single anyway.

3) The video we have is a TV-capture. Anyone can record TV-programmes - most people do that with VHS recorders. Only the device is different in this case. ZTV is a free channel, they have bought the rights for the video broadcast, and I know for sure that it is absolutely LEGAL to record programmes from free channels and distribute that among people unless you ask money for it. So what do you want to do? Ban channels showing the video?

4) No one cares if you reconsider working with RoxBytes. You promised hundreds of high quality recordings but you have never ever shown the slightest sign of them existing. Sometimes you just gave some stupid reason (couldn’t find a webspace - I offered you to host the files on RoxBytes’ private servers- or there is roxette.org), sometimes you just posted messages here on TDR that your magnificent site is gonna be up very very soon with so many rare stuffs.

I have downloaded the svcd version but dont know how to play/view it.

My knowledge of video formats is limit. Please can someone explain how I can view this?

I have a lot of players on my XP machine, but none accept it.

I think this downloads will indeed hurt the sales of ATAY. It would be fair to offer medium quality recordings as a “preview” but not the whole package. I DO have a DSL connection but won’t download this, because buying the single wouldn’t make much sense anymore.

You can’t compare recording for your own use with distibuting a file over the net. It’s not fair to Marie and Per! And who says the video on the single will still be MPG1? Quicktime recently turned to full MPG4.

Oki mesa also a Roxbytes member ( greets to Pete, Irv, firestar and kib ) and well I like the video very much. It will be down as soon single is out, just as Pete said before we do not wanna harm Roxette.
Then again I wanna say, this video is a M2V and can be seen in WMP from version 9 on, or just use a simple DVD Player software as PowerDVD or WinDVD or whatever

I’ve downloaded WMP 9 (beta for XP) and that does not play the file downloaded fromRoxBytes..

I’ve searched for PowerDVD and WinDVD but can only find limited trial versions...
(so I haven’t bothered).

Any other suggstions? Surely there MUST be a free piece of software SOMEWHERE on the net that will play this file?

I asked for help to find a FREE player for the RoxBytes download and in return a get vague URLs and advice about software which costs $£$£$£$£

I’m obviously not going to download trial software costing $70 (typically) when I can get the CD for £3.99

pietro firstly i never promised : HUNDRE” of high quality files for your site ever. secondly the uploda problems you site was experiencing were pretty damn annoying and last i checked the only new update on roxbytes was a thing about you and tis video. secondly, all this bull crap about the quality of the video on the cd singles is rubbish. You can do what you want of course, but seeing as you have all but made the cd single worthless by not only posting the video but also the high quality cd version from the promo single...which btw is illegal according to the law since a promo single is not meant for resale or reproduction or public performce. grants you don’t have anything on your site that ’s available for sale aside from some of the wicf remixes which are still available. i just think its quite disappointing that your diminishing the shrinking sales base they already have with what you are doing

How dare you question the existence of anything i may or may not own. As you may very well know making a web site doesnt take 2 minutes, I work 6 days a week 10 hrs a day, i just bought a house which doesnt renovate itself. I find it quite hillarious that the minute anyone questions anything you do you immediately fly off the handle.

Coyboy... I live in Canada where the single is not released and the video gets absolutely NO AIRPLAY. I cannot afford to have the single imported, money is tight now and it’s better for me to spend it elsewhere. So how exactly am I supposed to watch the video unless I download it?

It’s better than usual version on singles and even better than DVD version!!!

Dear coyboyusa – forget about copyrights -most of ppl here will buy every Roxette single ... even if they have 1000 version of the same video– as i do...
for others who can’t buy the single- cos they are yong or livinig in the poor country or don’t have a possibility to do that.....
THERE IS SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN copyrights– HUMAN RIGHTS!!!
Human rights like.. chance to see that video ,like joy, like a little time of happiness in this cruel life........

I know that there is absolutely nothing officially available on RoxBytes (not even WICF remixes he’s talking about), and we will always upload commercially non-available songs until they get released. A promo is not a commercial release and it is in fact, was made for public performance! Actually RoxBytes DOES help the sale of Roxette records: I used to have links on the site to some record stores where fans without DVD-players could order singles with videos or the Greatest Hits VHS. I must say there were a LOT of people who did that and bought those singles and VHS tapes.

@steven: sorry I didn’t help about finding a free player: I was offline. There’s a decent free software that plays all common movie files. It’s called RadLight and you can download it from here:

steven (and all others of course) - to play m2v in WMP you just need a codec. FREE m2vcodec.
Go to www.filemirrors.com and search for m2v_codec .
Install it and play M2Vs in your favourite WMP 6.4 :)
I will upload this codec to Roxbytes - wish Pietro would link it asap.

Thank you sooooooo much.I downloaded the m2v format and it was really great. I played it by “Power DVD”.Its quality is perfect.
Can I ask you: “How did you find such a quality?”

7 hours to download!!!
I started it at 00:20 and I slept and it finished at 07:10.I woke up at 09:00 and when I saw it has finished,I shouted loudly!! :-D

I got someone to download it for me and I could get it from their ftp coz I can resume from that.....still took me all day LOL I need cable modem now! :P Anyway....to add to the debate.......the chances of seeing the video in the UK are probably limited so I’ve downloaded simply coz I wanted it! ;P I hardly think its going to affect single sales somehow......still....whatever anyone does is always wrong anyway ;) Keep up the good work RoxBytes. :)
