Watercolours in the Rain.

That is actually one of the Only Roxette Songs my wife likes a lot and she is practicing to sing this song... as my wife is a singer, she does a beautiful job performing Roxette songs, such as spending my time, It must have been love and now she is practicing this song...

nope, you’re not the only one, you can count me in, just love the song, very relaxing song, and really good lyrics.

it is by far the BEST roxette song on the planet!
They really missed a trick with not releasing this!
Such a stunning song!
RobS said on September 13, 2002 11:55:
yeah it is one of their best songs - love the lyrics, music, everything. And the live version from Sydney sounds great too :)

I have to agree Watercolours in the Rain is one of the best songs. I remember when I was pregnant, I would put that song on my portable Disc man, adn place the ear phones on my belly. My baby would move around and kick. I have bred a Roxette lover yet. Now that he is a year old, he dances with me to the songs. It is really a joy to share a love with my son.
Gezza said on September 13, 2002 15:41:
absolutley without exception the best song, and one of Maries if I’m not mistaken
Brian said on September 13, 2002 15:42:
That must have been the sweetest and nicest Message I have ever read on the TDR! That is so sweet what you said about you your son and roxette! I remember my parents loved Abba, they were flippen Abba maniacts, today, because I grew up listening to abba, I still love their music to bits! I guess the same will happen to your son.
Thanks fopr sharing such a wonderfull and sweet experience with us! ;-)
I want kids of my own as well! I can not wait!
MamaT381 said on September 13, 2002 15:51:
Brian, one of these days you’ll know the joy!! I hope to see them in concert and hear the song live. But living in the USA who knows when that’ll happen. Oh boy when it does happen I’m dragging my son and my mom to the concert. My mom’s favorite song is Come Back Before You Leave!!! Yes I turned her into a Roxette lover too!!! I figure if she can turn me into a Fleetwood Mac lover, I could turn her into a Roxette lover!!!
Brian said on September 13, 2002 15:55:
MAMA:
I do not think that Roxette plays Watercolors at conmcerts anymore... unfortunately..
that is cool with you mother!
I don’t really think that I am ever going to experience the joy you have...
MamaT381 said on September 13, 2002 16:06:
Why is that that? Have you not found that special someone? What do you mean they don’t perform Watercolours and more? (sniff sniff) Oh well I would just love to see them in concert!! That is one of my dreams!!
Gezza said on September 13, 2002 16:47:
I think I prefer some of maries music to Pers, although you can’t compare them as they are soooo different. I love her solo stuff but haven’t a clue what she’s singing about ;-)

It’s a great song!, I love it. It makes me relax and puts me in a great mood, so peaceful!

The song is stunning - one of the best they’ve done.
Heart_2002 said on September 14, 2002 15:17:
Brian: i agree with you...more than 10 years but ir is to me one of the most ADORABLE songs ever recorded by Roxette ad it’s so special due to so many things... arrengements, chorus, vocals, simple but so self-felt lyrics like a thought that is so true and it’s verbalized with simple words...
Marie did really proved ho good she is with her own special gift for music on this one...and for me she has been proving that ever since....
I can’t get enough of “Before you go to sleep” and “Beautiful Things” too... Per as right when Marie comes up with her own compositions Roxette just goes even better....although some fans don’t agree with it...
By the way Brian i am also a BIG BIG ABBA FAN..:)
grrl_on_moon said on September 16, 2002 04:54:
Totally agree Watercolours in the Rain is one of the best, if not the best Roxette song. First time i heard the song i fell in love with it.. the arrangement is just brilliant, lyrics are absolutely beautiful..
Brian said on September 16, 2002 10:43:
Wow! I must say, I am surprised about the good response Watercolors in the Rain got from so many fans! Once I mentioned somewhere on the Web before, How much i like this song, and people started to write emails to me, wanting to know if I was joking!!! I am glad about all the good responses to this Discussion about watercolors...

Hello there!
I have got to say, this song is actually one of my favorites as well. The first time I heard it I was surprised that Marie could actually write songs as well! Since then she has prooven her song writing skills many times I think, Go to sleep, Waiting for the Rain... Just to name a few of them...
Cheers!
Moaa said on September 18, 2002 12:40:
Yes i just listened to it and i have never heard it before!! Thank you for the tip, it is awesome, the kind of song that sticks with you from the first time you hear it! (Paint is still my favourite atm though:)
Moaa said on September 18, 2002 14:16:
Hello SirMikeAlot :)
Well, not really a new fan, I adored the Look Sharp album when i was 14 (still do), i listened myself silly, but then i “took a break” or how i should put it, in the sence that i didnt buy any of their records after that, (wich i am sure was a big mistake) though i have liked almost all of their releases always. But then they kind of disappeared. (I guess a really really “true” fan wouldnt notice that:)
Then when they released Milk and Toast and Honey i was “reborn” :)
I have listened to Marie and all her beautiful songs thought, her solomusic is kind of a Swedish national treasure, and is something that is always there, and i am so sad to hear about her condition :(
If only everyones thoughts of her could make her well then she would be up and running already!
tevensso (moderator) said on September 18, 2002 14:27:
I don’t have any special feelings for it. I prefer Joyride and such.
SirMikeAlot said on September 18, 2002 14:53:
@ Moaa
lol - sounds a bit like me. I lost track of them after How Do You Do came out, I didn’t really see much of them in Oz until I heard WICF on the radio one day in ’99, been a huge fan (again) ever since...
:) mike

Moaa & SirMikeAlot:
LOL sounds like me as well. I pretty much stopped listening to them after C!B!B!. Heard WICF a couple of times, didn’t think much of it at first, but then pretty much mid-way through this year i’ve got back into them. :)
Alfonsette said on September 18, 2002 22:50:
Although “Watercolours in the Rain” is not one of my favorites, the part “Find a place to settle down, get a job, in a city nearby.....” makes me feel in heaven, amazing!!!
baio said on September 19, 2002 03:40:
I prefer “Little girl”, it’s nostalgic, but not sad.
I still have the little boy of mine inside me =)
Th_Th said on September 19, 2002 10:53:
I think little girl is really good too, but somehow it is a bit boring as well I think...
Moaa said on September 19, 2002 16:21:
Mike and grrl on moon
Thats good :) now i dont have to feel like a “traitor” (not sure i spell that right...oh, well) here for not having all their records :)
DaminehGessle said on September 21, 2002 21:03:
Yes Watercolours in the Rain is amazing. There are actually many beautiful Roxette songs that were never released. I listen to the Joyride album often when I go jogging and when it comes to Watercolours in the Rain, I just sit down and look up in the night sky and wish upon a star. The song is a killer. I had amazing nights with it when I was younger. Aaaaaah...
@Gezza: Hehe I listen to Gyllene Tider sometimes and sing along and heh I have no idea what I’m singing. Same with Marie’s solo stuff.

That’s me today!
Santi said on September 21, 2002 22:56:
First time I listened to this one I thought it was the most horrible sounding track I had ever heard. “Oh my ears!” I thought. Those guitars sounding like out of tune :DDD And the voice of Marie I thought didn’t fit it. In Spain we have a saying: “No pega ni con cola” -> “It doesn’t stick with it even with glue”. I thought this :DDD
It has been for years the only track from Joyride CD that I really needed to skip. I mean... from wonderful “I Remember You” to cool “The Big L.” I thought it was a crime to insert this “thing” :D.
Then I grew older and learnt English, and well... lyrics are not that bad in the end :P Anyway I still need to skip it sometimes :D
Well, I hope lovers of it can forgive me... real people have real opinions about things, and as you are asking mine I really needed to share it with you... and sorry ;)
SirMikeAlot said on September 22, 2002 08:44:
Sorry guys but i’m like Santi on this one (apart from the learning to speak english part :P), although i appreciate the song it’s just not my style....
Santi said on September 22, 2002 09:00:
By the way... when I knew about Gyllene Tider (I grew up even older and then learnt Swedish :P) I realised the title is stolen from a Puls-track called “Som regn pa en akvarell”!!
shama said on September 22, 2002 10:56:
it’s definitely in the TOP 20 ofmy personal songs of all times.
just fabulous.
wendy said on September 22, 2002 13:24:
agree with Santi and SirMikeAlot, sometimes,i just love it,sometimes it’s so boring.....
Moaa said on September 22, 2002 19:34:
Santi, I have noticed that as well, and there is also another song on that album with the same title as a Roxette song and it is Upphetsad wich means Excited (Excited btw i think i an AMAZING song) They dont have the same lyrics though :)
On another note i just want to say that “What´s she like” and “I was so lucky” are two other really really beautiful songs . I was so lucky makes me breathless!!
kiwijazza said on September 23, 2002 09:41:
I have to agree with the topic. It’s truly a beautiful song. EMI needs to release a song by Marie as a single sometime. I’d love to see what happens. :)
jetjet said on September 24, 2002 18:50:
Brilliant! An early proof of Maries skill to write beautiful music.
Santi said on September 24, 2002 19:32:
I don’t think early is the word. She had written many songs for her solo albums before, and Dance Away; Half a woman, Half a shadow... and some others...
Th_Th said on September 27, 2002 07:34:
On Maries Album of Mammas Barn, the last song on that CD, sorry, can not remember the swedish spelling at all, anyways, the last song on that cd is just incredible and I am surprised that his song was not a hit in those days.... still today I love it!!! A Very early proof of her song writing skills!!!!
jetjet said on September 29, 2002 14:17:
You’re right, early isn’t the right word. But with Roxette it’s one of the first “knock me off my feet” experiences for me anyway.
Brian said on September 13, 2002 10:58:
Don’t you Guys think, that Watercolours in the Rain is the most Underrated Roxette Song ever? To me, it is the most amazing song in Music History! I love it to bits, this song takes me into another World whenever I listen to it! I love it and it makes me feel so relaxed. Especially when Marie starts to sing the Second Verse: “Find a place to settle down, get a job, in a city nearby.....” That is the most amazing part of music History! This song somehow means so much to me! The music, just amazing! I love the Instruments in that song as well, just everything about it is so perfectly special and amazing.
Am I the only One that thinks like that?
