The river is ¿? you are the one,
The radio is on but the sound is all gone,
And I wanna ¿? in the sun
Lately ¿? very hard to do...
I got a thing about you and I don’t really know what to do.
’Cause I got a thing about you, hey you.
I pick up the phone, I’m dialing the number
In my heart like a stone waits for the tone
Oh, I can’t make it on my own and I’ll never stop believing.
I know what is right and this is so wrong
¿?
The Tv is on but the colours are gone
Lately you’ve been painting my world blue
I got a thing about you and I don’t really care what to do.

That’s what I get :
“A Thing About You”
(Per Gessle)
I pick up the phone
I’m dialing your number
(?)
I’m home and alone
Cause I can’t function(?) on my own
And I never stop believing
The rythim is done
And you’re the one
The radio is on but sound is all gone
And I wanna walk out in the sun
But lately that’s been very hard to do
I’ve got a thing about you
And I don’t really know what you do
Cause I’ve got a thing about you
Hey you
I pick up the phone
I’m down(?) in that number and My heart’s like a stone
Wait for the tone
Oh I can’t make it on my own
And I never stop believing
I know what is right and this is so wrong
Alone in my bed, better off on my own
The TV is on but the colours are gone
And lately you’ve been painting my world blue
I’ve got a thing about you (I’ve got a thing about you...)
And I don’t really care what you do
I’ve got a thing about you (I’ve got a thing about you...)
Hey you
I’ve got a thing about you...
I’ve got a thing about you... ooh ooh ooh
Lately you’ve been painting my world blue
I’ve got a thing about you (I’ve got a thing about you...)
And I don’t really know what you do
I’ve got a thing about you
Hope the history is true (the history is true)
I’ve got a thing about you
A thing about you
I’ve got a thing about you...
I’ve got a thing about you...
And don’t believe no one too (?)
Someone please, correct me and complete it !! :)
Thanks

“And I don’t really know what to do”

“And I reallt don’t know what TO do”

I think they say both times “I’ll never stop believing” instead of “I never stop believing”.
LoneGunman said on September 9, 2002 07:53:
Got it: 3rd sentence :
And I pray you’re at home...
At home and alone !!!
Yes... :)
Still trying ! :)
temps-daurats said on September 9, 2002 07:54:
And “the story comes true” instead of “the history is true”.

I got this by someone of the FC:
I pick up the phone
I’m dialing your number
while I pray you’re at home,
at home and alone
’cause I can’t function on my own
And I’ll never stop believing
The reaping is done
You are the one
The radio is on but the sound is off gone
And I wanna walk out in the sun
But lately that’s been very hard to do
I’ve got a thing about you
And I don’t really know what to do

And I don’t really care what you do
I’ve got a thing about you

Hey you
I’ve got a thing about you
I’ve got a thing about you-ou-ou-ou

Yea, I’ve got a thing about you
A thing about you
I’ve got a thing about you
I’ve got a thing about you-ou-ou-ou
And I don’t really know what to do
It´s just different in some words!
But you all did a great job! :o)
Enjoy the song!
Ronney said on September 9, 2002 10:22:
great!
it seems that ’reaping’ or ’reapwork’ won’t be solved untill Per helps us out ;)
just give it another try and listen to it... I do not hear ’reaping’. It might be the lyrics on paper in the studio, but Per is singing something with a ’k’, according to Ronney at least
wendy said on September 9, 2002 10:58:
the lyrics are so beautiful!!!!
i’d just follow the song with Ronney’s lyrics and i think it’s correct....
they make my flesh creep......
.....wow............
Vixzter said on September 9, 2002 18:12:
Its either reaping or reaper.
Now thats thrown another spanner in the works hasn’t it ;) still can’t make it out even after listening to it on repeat for the past 3 hours ;)
Vixzter said on September 9, 2002 18:14:
of course it could be written reapin’ coz its sounds like its being rushed to fit the sentance.
temps-daurats said on September 9, 2002 18:51:
I think if they sang in Swedish we would have clear what they sing by now :-P ...
Vixzter said on September 9, 2002 19:01:
after the 10 millionth time of listening ........its....
“the reapin’ is done” ;)
or was that weeping LOL
nah....its reapin’ (or reaping if you want to sing it in correct English) ;)
ancikomanci said on September 9, 2002 19:35:
i APOLOGIZE, BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT PER SAYS “REPENT”.....THE REPENT IS DONE........WITH A SOMEWHAT ODD ACCENT, OR STRESS........BUT ENGLISH ISN’T THE MOTHER TONGUE TO HIM, AND FOR ME, EITHER:-S
Vixzter said on September 9, 2002 19:45:
trust me...... its reaping :) don’t ask me to explain until I’ve got my dictionary out ;) its a bit late in the day for me to start doing that ;)
temps-daurats said on September 9, 2002 20:00:
Ok, English(wo)men, Australians, Irish, New Zealanders, Indians, Maltese, Canadians and Americans and whoever was raised in English... what does have more sense... “Repent” or “reapin’”????
steven said on September 9, 2002 20:24:
I’ve sat here with my wife with the volume up loud and I’m certain it’s ’Repent’. You can clearly hear a ’T’ being pronounced...
...and if you take the lyrics before and after into context it all points towards ’Repent’. The other suggestions just don’t make sense.
And Per’s grasp of English is very good so I don’t believe he would make such a silly mistake with this.

Roxrider_USA said on September 10, 2002 01:05:
Hey guys!!
Well, i really think it is “the reaper is done” . I believe that’s the right word because the next line “You are the one” suggests that whoever Per is talking about is the reaper (the one) who has reaped or turned, his heart, love or the love relationship between them, into pieces.
Take care, guys!
Roxrider, New York!
Vixzter said on September 10, 2002 05:49:
Reaping means gathering (or something like that).
That would make sense.
Repent is something like .....to be sorry for.
Dunno where my dictionary is so can’t put down what they mean exactly. ;) Will try and explain this later. (when i’ve woken up and had some coffee)
Still think its reaping by the way....spelt reapin’ which shortens it. :)
I think if it was repent then you wouldn’t here the first e so prominently....but then its Per.....I’d larf my socks off if it wasn’t either of those words ;)
Ronney said on September 10, 2002 06:35:
no dictionary with you? check out http://www.euroglotonline.nl
and when I listen to the song I still hear a ’k’...
tevensso (moderator) said on September 10, 2002 08:06:
I agree with Vix, it’s most certainly ’reaping’, if it were ’repent’ he doesn’t even pronounce it correctly. (Maybe it’s ’re-paint’? Ha ha ha!!!)
Denstandigaresan said on September 10, 2002 13:05:
I don’t care what the word is...! All I know is, BIG HUGE THANKS to Vixz, it’s because of her I got to hear the song in full in the first place! :D:D
My other friend tried phoning me to play it... but I couldn’t answer my mobile where I was at the time! Darn... isn’t that always the way?! ;)
ktoto said on September 10, 2002 13:28:
two things, all of you wrote down the lyrics wrong, it’s dialling, not dialing (my english is not that good to noticed about that mistake, ’word’ did it :P), and the other thing is that: could it be ’and i’ll never stop, believe it’ instead of ’and i’ll never stop believing’?
Vixzter said on September 10, 2002 16:18:
@tevensso - LOL .....i was about to say maybe its re-paint ;) *roflol* perhaps he’s singing about his kitchen or something ;)
Ronney said on September 11, 2002 14:23:
about dailing:

Personally i think reapin’ makes a whole lot more sense - though i am from australia :)
gyllene_tjej said on September 11, 2002 14:49:
@ktoto: it can’t be believe, it must be an ing form, coz the verb before is stop ( just like i can’t stop thinking about you and NOT I can’t stop think about you)
About dialing I agree with Ronney and I am more used to this form :)
Ronney said on September 11, 2002 15:54:
@toto and @gt:
it could be “: i’ll never stop, believe it’
instead of: i’ll never stop believing’.
It is possible because of the comma!
gyllene_tjej said on September 11, 2002 16:24:
oj! You are right in case we add a comma. I did not see it in the original post, messy me :o)
tevensso (moderator) said on September 12, 2002 08:42:
@ktoto: “Dialing” is American English, (compared to dialling) while “dailing” is not English at all. :)
ktoto said on September 12, 2002 14:50:
@ronney: thanks for answering about the comma thing
@tevensso: thanks for the explanation, another topic now could be: are the lyrics of Roxette more north american or english oriented? i would agree with the second option, about ’centre’ and ’colours’ it seems clear, they use to use ’to have got’ in most of their lyrics, but it’s always like that? i couldn’t say... anyone knows it for sure?
PD: i had to edit three times because i typed wrong the nicknames, hope this is the last one! LOL
Santi said on September 17, 2002 16:17:
Watching the video clip I think it’s pretty clear he says “Reaping”... that’s what he seems to pronounce... despite the movement of the head :)... don’t you think?
Ronney said on September 17, 2002 16:33:
hehe, I was watching it too for that word... but I still hope and think it’s reapwork....
AntiMario said on September 18, 2002 05:53:
Well, guys why are you circled at “reapin’”?
It’s not definetly repent as it’s a verb naturally and noun (with “the”) would be different in suffix. I really dunno I just used my 250 000 word dictionary.
RIPPING! :) Porbably Per just finished to grab his favorite track from CD, ha-ha... Just joking.
