It’s the best Rox song ever! And it isn’t only a good song to fans, it’s also a great song to reach the top of the charts! I remember looking for “Matah” on the radio in 2001, and now it’s ATAY. Time flies...

Well, I have to agree with someone who said that it sounded boring the first time I heard it. I was a little disappointed with not hearing the guitar. But hey....This song is awesome NO MATTER HOW THEY PLAY IT!!!!!!!!! :)

It just goes to show how great Roxette is. Now if only this song will have the luck that ’The Look’ did here in the states. I think it would be popular here.

Noel Gallagher used to say that for him to know if a song he has just composed is good, he’s got to remember it after sleeping.
Yesterday night I couldn’t remember the melody... but this morning after sleeping it was with me again :P
So if I’m enough of a good songwriter then it’s going to be a very big hit!!!!!!!

Well, actually it doesn’t sound like an Oasis-song, but I’ve the feeling that there are some “brit-pop” influences in the song.
Thanx God no dancefloor-influences anymore :)

Now that I have heard the full song (many times), I still can’t decide on the sound overall. It’s very light and fresh sounding isn’t it?

Love the lyrics though, much better than most of the lyrics on the RS album.

Have it on repeat mode, I still can’t get enough!!! I love it is not enough to say... I am very touched, tears are brimming in the corners of my eyes... Lovely bunny voice creeping inside me and then Marie to spice it up a bit in the chorus, i adore when they sing together!!! :)
The compositin and melody line in the end reminds me of i’ll be alright and I don’t want to get hurt.

I wish SO much Per and Marie played their roles in the video instead of some hired actors... but well.
*sigh* I am really lost for words!

I think it is good. As good as the rest of those ballads Per has in his wardrobe.
What do i mean? Well, i think it is just one of those magnificient ballads Per writes, but I honestly think they should’ve gone for a more powerful ballad... there is an enormous lack of energy.
Where’s the building up of the song? The electric guitars? You know; like IMHBL, FLAF or LTYH...
It is nice when you listen to the first minute, then it is boring.... I’m a Gessle fan, and he deserves honest opinions.

Hmmzzzz... It’s catchy that’s for sure, and yes it’s a superb balled. I don’t think it has a lack of energy, it’s just a different kind of energy... The joyride album had a typical sound, just like HAND and roomservice.... This is the sound they have right now.... But, for the dutch people arround here, i can only hope hope hope that this song will get the airplay it deserves.... (i don’t think radio 538 will support it....) has anyone heard it already?

I would love for them to be in the top ten but the charts are dominated by teenagers who buy the hearsay,westlife etc etc stuff so although it’s a good song , we won’t hear much of it . but nopefully I will be proved wrong. :-)

There are only three ways to have a big UK hit:
1) Be a current or former member of some bad UK girl/boy band (e.g., Steps, SClub7, Spice Girls... well, won’t work anymore! Westlife...) or be from a made-on-TV act (even if you didn’t win).
2) Have had a HUGE hit in the US with tonnes of major US label support (e.g., Britney, Celine, Shakira, whatever other crap filters out that way)
3) Be dead (Elvis, the dead Beatles, Aaliyah) or really old (Elton John, the remaining Beatles).

Roxette are neither current or former members of a UK girl/boy band or got together on a TV show, have a major hit in the US and major label support, or are dead or really old. Conclusion? Not a chance in hell this will be a hit in the UK. Does it have a thing to do with the merit of the song? Definitely not.

I think it has great potential as a single here in the UK as it sounds so different from all the other blandness that’s around - but it will only work if EMI UK get them on the right promotional channels! AND NOT LIQUID NEWS!!!!

I am right now sitting in front of the computer, listening to the Austrian radio station Ö3 and sudenly i have heard the first notes of Spending my time, i started to shiver when Marie starts to sing and right now I am having tears in my eyes. It´s been LONG since i last heard the song but after so many years and having heard it like million times, it still brings that feeling in me, it has been LONG since a Roxette song last brought tears in my eyes.. just like that.. just because of how beautiful the song is.. And it makes me sad that this feeling is gone with the new songs.. Things will never be the same, I feel.

There´s lack of energy, in a way i feel there is lack of interest, of enthusiasm, of THAT what made Roxette songs want you more and more. I have listened to ATAY already for some times, and when it gets to the end i feel.. bored! :( WHERE has THAT gone?

I don’t think it matters what Roxette release in the UK, it won’t do well.

Their last notable success here was WICF which entered at no. 11 back in 1999, then is disappeared from the charts at the spead of light. (and they put in some decent promotion that week appearing on many notible TV shows)

Since then, we’ve had Stars and M&T&H, both of which bearly charted, oh and not forgetting the abortive release of Anyone (but we don’t talk about that - too painfull).

I hate to say this but the situation here is fast resembling the situation in the States. I.E. no Rox releases. I think it’s only a matter of time before some EMI bean counter realises that it is no longer viable to release singles or even albums here.

Sad.
