Appraisal:
The Simple-Pop-Guys are finally out of any Ideas
The split from the D.J. Bobo traget group and soft pop/rock could never last forever: With Room Service, the Swedish Ex Constant-on-top-of-the-Charts Duo Roxette, delivers an Example, how bad and horrible it sounds, if some one doesn’t find the right time to stop making music.
Their 12 wanna-be catchy tunes amaze especially with frumpy sound effects, which they got from either a casio toy or from the studio equipment of Dshingis Khan.
As long as the reasonably song material were okay, you could tolerate Per Gessles awful attemps to try himself on the Microphone.
On Room Service his ’head to head race” with Dieter Bohlen to become ’The most pitiable Pop Singer of all Times’, he forces himself to brake the record of fast Track-Hoping. To crown this all, Roxette even managed it, to take Marie Fredricksons away of being distinctively good. In this way, the usually acceptable Singer has got the same charisma as just any teeny, faceless vocal acrobat, that tries to sing the chorus of a stupid dance song and try to somehow link the verses of a song together.
The Single alone: “The centre of the heart” and “Make my head go pop”, which would have been just a filler on any ABBA Album, remind us vague, that those two swedes a long time ago developed the Hit-Formula.
All of this together is like a gooey candy for a caries Patient.

Especially the Statement, that The Centre of the Heart and Make my head go Pop are the best songs on RS but would have been just a stupid filler on any ABBA Album!

What if someone translated it to English so most people would understand?

My God!!! Which ass hole has written this article??? RS is my favourite album, it’s absolutely brilliant!!!
Brian said on August 30, 2002 12:47:
To compare Marie with just another singer, that is just there to fill the chorus, just as any dancefloor singer does...
that makes me sick!!!

i am waiting for a rolling stone mag. review on A THING ABOUT YOU... but i can imagine how it will be. its a shame

dj bobo is mentioned, too. he’s from switzerland.
anybody else out here knows him and his music?
joyrider said on August 30, 2002 14:42:
dj bobo makes and produces “cheap” euro-dance songs. listen to “there’s a party” - not my music style. roxette should make more rock-songs to get away those image.
SirMikeAlot said on August 30, 2002 14:44:
I understood a bit of that - my germans not that great, lets just hope A Thing About You is a big enough hit to prove them wrong!!!
Kiwein1 said on August 30, 2002 15:12:
That was written by someone who did not even listen to RS I think! Although I must admit, that there really are better Roxette-albums ))-:

The translation now is updated right under the original article.

But when this article was written? The lot of airplay that RS got in Germany and the countless concerts are the proper answer to this column.
Maybe he isn’t aware about what Roxette plans, what is doing and etc.
And, wanna know folks? I turn mine the words from Faith No More: WHO CARES A LOT?

It’s just one persons view. I personally think that RS is the best since Joyride, but people do have different opinions which I appreciate.

You can be sure that he knows everything about studio equipment of Dshingis Khan– but thats all he knows.....
To crown this all, He even try to be the faceless words acrobat, that tries to sing the chorus of a honourable pop critics -try to somehow link the “verses” of a article together, remind us vague, about the true REALITY

@ SirMikeAlot: remember Brian’s false topic about the new single he had heard on the radio in Germany? Believe me, this topic is a false one too.

A bit harsh yes, but overall a well written article and it is SPOT ON!
I think it’s an honest depiction of an album gone wrong, namely the CRAP called Room Service.
Well done Rolling Stones!

HEY GUYS - THIS ARTICLE IS MADE UP BY BRIAN !!! DON’T YOU GET IT ???
THERE’S NO PROOF THAT THIS IS TRUE
WWW.ROLLINGSTONE.DE IS NEVER ACCESSIBLE SO HE CAN WRITE WHAT HE WANTS. AND I DON’T THINK HE BUYS THE GERMAN MAGAZINE AS HE LIVES IN IRELAND.
Kiwein1 said on August 31, 2002 10:10:
To be honest: I believe Brian that this is a true article.
Even me, and I am german could not write such an article. There are so much phrases in it, words in a combination, that no non-german person could use. Some sentences are even hard to understand. I had to read them twice. And I studied german in college.
No, there was someone who really knows how to put german phrases together and build a sentence.
When Brian really is irish, he could not write such an article..and I don’t mean it in a bad way..! I recognized that his german is really good! ((-:
Maybe he is german? That would be another case, of course.
Pascal said on August 31, 2002 10:42:
Brian speaks German too as he has family in Germany but one thing’s for sure: HE MADE UP THIS ARTICLE !!!
rouven282 said on August 31, 2002 10:43:
The article is definitely not made up by Brian. The online-store BOL uses this article as their review for “Room Service” and Rolling Stone is quoted as the source. You can go to www.bol.de and look for RS in the music section, so you’ll find this article. It’s very strange that a store which wants to sell CDs, releases a bad article like this...
Here’s the link to bol.de:

Uhmm, so it seems that Brian was right. I’m sorry but after that German-radio lie I lost all confidence in Brian, especially when he comes up with such a, yes indeed, “horrible” article. It was just too bad to be true. Couldn’t believe it.
Anyway, I apologize to Brian. I’ll think twice before commenting in the future.
Kiwein1 said on August 31, 2002 11:23:
As I said: this is a true article!
The language that this guy uses is really TOO german, you know? It is hard to explain! But the phrases are really really german and nothing else. So let us just take this article and throw it away..!!
joyrider said on August 31, 2002 14:12:
it’s too old to be a discussion-topic, don’t you think? room service is old now...
SirMikeAlot said on August 31, 2002 14:46:
Yeah, why put this up now (how long after the release??), anyway, in a short while RS will be history and we can look forward to (hopefully good) reviews about ATAY, the new cd and then everything after that :)))
Jackaroo said on August 31, 2002 16:28:
Well done Pascal for admitting you were wrong, that is very good of you.

FORGET the articles FORGET that there are people ruining Roxette’s music.... We all love them and that’s what only matters...
Why should we waste our time with people and things that aren’t worth deserving it???
Brian and everybody the next time you read or hear anything BAD about Roxette just ....put into the trash can or just turn off the radio....i do and it works it’s a question of ingnoring them....
