Okay, I’ll play (:
1. Crush On You (as is)
2. The Centre of the Heart (as is)
3. Wish I Could Fly (a studio version based on the live, bluesy version with the wailing guitars)
4. Real Sugar (with even heavier guitars in the chorus, like in Garbage’s “Not My Idea”)
5. Pay The Price (as is, because that has to be the best guitar solo ever)
6. Anyone (acoustic version, similar to the end of the version played on the “Room Service” tour)
7. Make My Head Go Pop (with a better bridge, with lots of keys and drum loops)
8. 7Twenty7 (as is)
9. Salvation (as is)
10. Milk & Toast & Honey (Fragma mix)
11. Entering Your Heart (as is)
12. Stars (the original rock version, with guitars)
13. It Takes You No Time To Get Here (acoustic)
14. My World, My Love, My Life (as is, because it’s perfect)
Hmmm... I want this CD!! None of what I’ve written here should be taken to mean that I think these songs should have more guitars - I love the originals as they are, but it would be really cool to hear these songs with a different mix.

Hmm, if you ask a Metallica fan, he won’t believe you when you claim “Pay The Price” has the best guitar solo ever...
Jackeill said on August 28, 2002 21:29:
hm it’s fine but best solos are in led zeppelin’s songs and santana has good ones... and great solo there is in november rain by g’n’r! this solo rulez!
roxtexanet said on August 29, 2002 03:08:
Well, the solos in Santana and Zeppelin’s songs might be technically more sophisticated or whatever, but the solo in “Pay The Price” just gets to me somehow...

I asked you one thing not to talk about Led Zepplin or Mettalica ...with all my honest respect for those bands but please put your discussion on a separate topic and be kind focus on what i’ve asked you here. If you aren’t with the will to take part of it that’s fine but don’t mess it up please!
Thanx

Further details:
Roxette has a few song on the baggage that were not fit into the album:
- “Pay the Price” was competing with “7twenty7” for the album but this last one won has it was much more stronger.....yet it was included as a b-side for the “Wish I could Fly” single ....the 1st single release!
- “Stars” Michael Illbert produced a very techno orieted song that didn’t fit into the album and as it does not fit the Roxette usual style... however Per loves this one and donated it to a children’s concert for children affected with AIDS in Africa....Marie performed the song together with some Djs live and an amazing choir of children around her singing along ...it was like a Club mixed with a big very big school party....LOL:)
(Yet i think that the idea for a concert with such purpose would be wonderdul and Roxette would colaborate...”Stars” might not be a very fav among fans but its happy and cool rhythm would chear these kids up ....and everybody on the audience)
- “Waiting For the Rain” written by Marie for Roxette but included on a Concert for the Beatle’s Anniversary of their carear....then featured on a album about it!
- ” Looking For Jane” was facing competition from “Staring at the Ground” and ended up as a b-side to the “TCOTH” single together with “Litle Girl” a small song Marie also wrote for the album but remained out due to its simplicity ... still a charming piece of bittersweet melody
- “Jefferson” b-side to the ” Milk and Toast and Honey” single
(great song according to Per but too late recorded for the album)
- “Bringing me down to my knees” good guitar solo but Per thinks that it needed to be re-recorded better ...but how? He kept it in the drawer....the same for “Make my Head go pop” this one should be more strong i the chortus and not so “lollypop” it’s funny but a bit silly ....he would do it more like a garage tune more his on way....
NOTE:
This is only my imagination and personal view don’t take it for real

Can i ask you how would you have produced a song like “My World My Love My life”? Should it have been more pompous and megestic in sound and instruments? How would you have done it? Bigger not so short and simple?
Heart_2002 said on August 27, 2002 15:43:
If you were to start working on a Rox album (pretedn you were Marie and Per and all your friends were Jonas, Pelle, Clarence, etc) and all the songs you had completed were the one we find on both “Have a nice day” and “Room Service” ... How would you make a tracklist of those and how different would you have produced and mixed the songs into your album? (You can mentio details during recording process, intruments, people involved ..etc)
Give it a try use your imagination....
and have a nice room service day....
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Roxette’s New Album
“Have a nice room service day” (silly tiltle ...)
1) CRUSH ON YOU
Yeah a great opener track. Per’s almost rap lyrics here are so silly but if we take a close look at them it’s almost like an ordinary day of man filled with thoughts and troubles. Fights with neighbours and flies on scoth with ice! Who has never had the bad luck of driving on the wrong side? Lol:)
Anyway If i were to produce this track and although i really love the original version (forgive me all diehard rock Roxette lovers) i would really make it more rocky than what it is. Pelle playing some mad drums and Jonas giving us full power on the guitars with a great solo in the middle. Marie has one of the best vocals on this one. I would keep Michael Ilbert out of this one with all my respect of course.
2) WISH I COULD FLY
The great ballad after a crazy pop tune. It must be typical Roxette. I love it... wonderful string’s arrangements from Clarence and like it happended on the RS tour i would replace or at least add simultaneously to the “falling plane sound” a solo by Jonas on his guitar.
3) THE CENTRE OF THE HEART
We must have a classic Roxette track like “The Look” or “Fireworks” on a Rox album. This one is for me damm cool. I would make it bigger towards the end becauase the repetitive chorus is so awsome it could go on and on and on. Some eletric guitars along the whole track and the same drum bear as “I want you” from Savage Garden to make it more consistant and coherent.
4) IT WILL TAKE A LONG LONG TIME
5) IT TAKES YOU NO TIME TO GET HERE
Two amazing beautiful acoustic songs one by Marie and the other by Per. In order to sememble the same structure on the “CBB” album with “The First Girl on the moon” and “Place your love” i wouls put these 2 one after another. The first being recorded like the Modern Rock version of course. Jonas once again it’s never enough
6) REAL SUGAR
This one to me besides having similarities to COY could obviously be recorded in a much more harder way. Live with a garage sound to make a true pop tune a la Gyllene Tyder. It would be like having a new “The Big L.” but 2001 performed live in the studio. The live version made by Roxette during the promotional concerts in Germany ans Spain is for me much better than the studio version. Even the Shotting Star mix is grovier than the original. The guitars should be more hearable and the end extended.
7) ANYONE or COOPER
In order to a have a ballad like CBB whether we could choose Anyone that is clearly more similar in a way to the forementioned song or even closer to it the beautifil but underrated “Cooper”. This song if recorded just like CBB would prove that it fits this style perfectly. The final production to it on the HAND should be much better than that. The strings are perfect and a song with the stylle of CCB really matches narrative lyrics... a song telling a story. I’d love that!
8) I WAS SO LUCKY
The song written to Gabriel. It must be on the album of course
9) MILK AND TOAST AND HONEY
Another enchating ballad. Simpler than many we know but its simplicity and clerary makes it very pleasant for fans and music listeners that are used to a Roxette song especially a ballad like this magic and shiny. I would have put the demo drums and make it extended in the strings’ solo part.
10) FOOL
A nice piece of bumblegum to this album. It almost like having a “Dressed For Sucess” with Marie doing great vocals on this one (she really does i was impressed!) or a funny song with a happy mood like “June Afternoon”. The song itself was produced with a cool sound so Shooting Star did not damaged it so badly as many think. I wouls keep him in the team but i would add a much stronger guitar sound and maybe a solo here.
11) SALVATION
Another pretty ballad like “Vulnerable” but perhaps less magestic in a way. It would remain as it is we don’t need to have guitars on all the songs, I would just ask Marie to re-record the vocals. She seemed to have done better on the spanish version than on the original to me.
12) 7Twenty7
I would have recorded this one like the demo version as many of us agree. More poweful to be fit into a studio album. A nice piece of a song very a la Gessle as a consequence of his solo album. Smashing and crushing...cool guitars and it’s on!
13) STARING AT THE GROUND
This one to me is very Roxette in many ways. Lyrics and melody but i would have recorded with live drums to make it a bit midtempo. A kind of song that is close to something hard but not quite there. It’s like “Looking For Jane” but a bit better that’s why i would have picked this one.
14) MY WORLD MY LOVE MY LIFE
This one is very deep and for such reason I would have make it bigger. Like in the CBB album “Love is all” is the biggest ballad and trully deserve the striong sound it has. The same magestic image would be fittable for this one. Drums could be more like “Queen Of Rain” so that we would have another IMHBL ballad vibe and i could have add a choir to the chorus in the end. Extended and sang like a echo to the world ... the magic view of a sunset on the rise .... i really love this one!
15) BEAUTIFUL THINGS
LIke it happens on almost every single Rox album the last track muts have a touch of farewell. This one is the saddest song Roxette ever did at least for me. What a strong chorus and a sad feeling. Marie’s solo work is so evident on this one. It’s a mix between the song “Herren beg för dig” from 1994 and the beautiful “Tro” from 1996. Definitively the perfect end for the album.
Roxette are Marie and Per

(with a few colaboratios from Michael Illbert and Shooting Star)
