Trendy, trendy, trendy...

When I read that ATAY would be a classic power ballad, I thought: “Ooof...at last, Roxette will challenge the commercial preferences and start doing songs in that stormy rocky way again.” But...an acoustic guitar and a cello? Sung by Per?
I’m not questing the quality of it, only the lack of originality...most of ballads that are topping the charts are those very simple ones, with a poor guitar and electronic drums. And of course, we can’t forget the most “fashion” thing of actual music world: the acoustic albums...hah...so, it just seems that Per didn’t want to go bold and he really should be. The real trend today is being yourself cool, not following what seems to sell more. But...
And why is Per singing? Well...just answer: are ballads sung by women going worth lately? How it is Michael Bolton’s new album? Once again, trend...
I hope that Per also follow another trend: most of bands release the “weaker” song as the first single. Hopefully, “Breathe” will be even better or lot lot better than ATAY. I’m not being pessimist, I’m just upset. Or maybe I dunno how to be faithful in Per’s talent. Honestly, I guess it’s coz he shows to be denying it.

You can’t say that Roxette never follow trends, what about STARS???
I think Tinytim is right in a way.

Stars???? Who else is doing a song like Stars???
S Club 7? Please... this is more than just sound it has to do with atitude and personal music style...
and Roxette is unique in that sence...
Only because it sounds like a techno song Stars would have to be much more different than what it is to be some sort of tredyness...
wendy said on August 14, 2002 17:28:
they want STARS to sound more like the music these days, with more Dance in it!
Have you never read that????
Maybe some people have to think that everything around Roxette is NOT perfect,i don’t say anything bad about them, but no-one is perfect and no-one will ever be.....
Heart_2002 said on August 15, 2002 15:46:
That is following some modern INFLUENCES not TRENDS ...you should have listened to the official Roxette interwiew on HAND in 1999....
At least you are right about one thing...no one is perfect and i just wished some of the fans here ho now enjoy their time complaining like babies on everything that Roxette does could stop...it all doen’t makes any logic and it’s a war with no meaning.
Freedom of speach should not mean to be DEMAMDFING UNPLEASENT, BORING, and Frutrated about everything....that goes beyond that a

You guys are so damn pathetic! You talking about a song you´ve never heard before and you say it´s crap. How embarrassing is that?! Get a life wankers. Especially Mr. Tinytim... Mr. Knowing-It-All... you really don´t what you´re talking about. Take your “trends” or whatelse you´re dreaming about at night and put them where the light doesn´t shine too often.

Thanx for understanding AGirl....by the way “Stars” was from the Have a nice day album in 1999 so e know that one ......lol:)

I guess you didn’t notice what I’m trying to say: If Roxette tries a bad-suceeded experience, its popularity falls. That’s the world of music today: something good, thump up, bad thumb down...btw, thumbs down meant cutted necks in Roman’s Empire...
I won’t stop listening to Roxette...btw, I’m anxious to buy the new album WITH the EP (hope it will get to my city...!!!), but I just don’t like to see Roxette following any influence, trend, fashino or whatever coz Roxette NEVER followed the influences and had success, my dear Portuguese friend, Heart 2002. Very opposite - Roxette always had a rocky (strong-stormy-garage kind-Ramones style) root, due to Per’s origins. Then, there’s a guy, called Clarence Owferman that does the rest - he paints some neon colors on these songs oriented by Per’s and voila - there’s the so-called Swedish Power Pop.
Nobody sounded like Roxette from 1990 - 1994. If they followed the influences, so they should sound close to A-ha and Modern talk that time. But they didn’t, coz Roxette style is an unique blend of Per and Clarence acknowledges + Marie’s talent. That’s it (of course we can’t forget Jonas). When they decided to follow ’influences’ the had the “super apreciated” HAND conceived - a CD that decreased Roxette’s appreciaton from the non-fans...btw, they are the biggest public that consumes their material, not us. When that certain Shooting Star entered Rox-world, they assumed that were following influences and there it is - Roxette is exactly where we would like it is...isn’t it? Only inside our hearts...
I won’t stop listening, buying or appreciating Roxette...but honestly, I’m tired of just wait for a big break again. I mean, the radios don’t play them like before...and why does it bother? ’Coz I think that Roxette songs are the style I’d like to listen, they’re the best...well, reasons from a fan...I’m tired of listening to my CDs alone. That’s it.
I guess I’m capable of feeling when Roxette will make it. It’s the case of the Pop Peas album. There’s a different thing in the air, this time. Just the ’feeling’ sense that you get after some years listenig to music...and Roxette.
Just for finish..AccompaniedGirl (hope your boyfriend isn’t Casper)...it seems that you dislike me for a long time, but if you respect my opinions, please stop calling with these stupid blonde-rich-girl nick names. You look like one of those boy-magazine-freaks. So, please I’m feeling tired-of-it. I never persecuted you, and well, it seems you annoy. I mean, it’s coz you are annoying. If you don’t like my opinion, don’t post a thing.

Hi Tyni Tim
Ok no need to mention the war: i understood your point and believe it i agree with you at a certain stage.
Personally i have overcome that “stage” of being tired of listening to Roxette on my own..i have learned to apreciate that more than ever and you will also one day...i hope! I don’t believe on a big comeback for Roxette and to be honest they don’t need another one... it’s all about the music listeners ....today they prefer to listen to crapy stuff like “american pop” and Hip Hop of which i ran tired of seeing on TV and listening on the radio...
in that case i prefer to pick on any Rox song and just listen to it and sing along to it no matter what other people will think about it...It’s my life after all and i don’t live to give others the pleasure of being something else i’m not Roxette are part of me and i’ll keep it fos as long as i live...
And to be honest (although i don’t agree that Roxette follow trends but just allow influences to be in their music) i don’t see myself being so upset with any album Roxette releases from now on. People make to much talking about not liking HAND and RS to the point where they DEMAND something else! Then i ask myself: hold on a minute it’s their music we shouldn’t step that futher...that’s a big lack of respect for both Marie and Per. Not liking it that’s fine and acceptable no one is perfect so Roxette aren’t as well and they don’t have to...
I trully believe that over the years an “illusion” about Roxette was made and now it’s falling apart becuase most of the fasn can’t bare the idea of not seeing them on the top-spot...i find that too much dramatic....there are so many GOOD music acts going through the same thing today and it’s all becuase of the music scene today ....
As i can’t do anything to change it (what an utopia it is) i prefer to camly stay with my close friends and listen to Roxette the way i’ve always done...
I don’t mind about what kind of song they release as long as they there to fullfill my life it’s all that matters....
Selling records and being #1 is something to only happens for a very short time to everyone...only a few deserve that eternal fate of being number 1 always like Madonna..why? don’t ask me...
Roxette has their time on that position as well but it will take a long long time to fans to get used to it...
Anyway Roxette are a great band i love them completely and probably i’m the only fan here on the Daily Roxette to be 100% satisfeid with theuir work until today ... (even with Hand and Rs...i grew up loving these two albums as well as all the others...)
Can’t wait to listen to “Breathe” and “A thing about you”:)))
See ya TinyTim

Roxette lost some magic in their music, Baladas en español, HAND, and RS don’t make me feel like hmmmm “connected” to them anymore.... it’s like a false roxette... But the strange thing (luckily) is that in newer Per demos and solo stuff, and marie solo stuff.... or rox live... the “magic” is still alive. So i don’t even care about charts or “being in the stupid top spot”, it’s been almost 13 yrs since i´m a rox fan.... and like everyone following them... i’ve seen they commercial ups and downs.... (and i personally didn’t care a sh!t) but since Baladas en español... i presenced they first “down” in music... followed by HAND... (i hated it since the 2nd time i listened it) and then RS, that was a lot better than HAND... but i still couldn’t “connect” to it...
and i repeat... their non Roxette music is still being great.... so... the only thing i care about is why their studio work is being so...... let’s say “down”

Forget all that “trendy” crap...for heaven’s sake
Trends are just in our imagination.... people sing and do music the way they feel right to do it even if it’s bullshit ... but if you don’t like it that’s your problem...and your taste and that is respected, do this as well to others...
Per is not going to follow trends he never did Roxette’s music is unique as far as i am concerned...
Let other do what they want and leave Per do what he wants... life is not only about being #1 hit ....and per is nor worried about it...15 years of Roxette...only a few can achieve this status...
