News for Canadians/Americans

I just got an email from Emi Music Canada today concerning the Canadian release of the “All The Videos Ever Made” DVD :
“I believe we will release the Roxette DVD although the release date has not yet been determined. Please check our new release section regularly
for updates.”
So, if it doesn’t get released in the states, Americans can always order it from Canada.

Wow... I don’t have a DVD player but I hope that it is released in Canada cause I will definately go out and buy it.
I sent an e-mail to EMI Canada a while back asking them about the new CD and they said that had no plans to release the CD. That was a few weeks ago so maybe things have changed.

Hi In South America although they use NTSC, their version is differnt to the North American Version and is very close to PAL so they would have no problems playing the PAL DVD.
Btw any NTSC version made would reduce the quality of the DVD.

to roxtexanet - You’re welcome. I haven’t seen many region 1 DVDs manufactured outside of Canada and the United States in the stores here in Canada. Many DVDs sold in Canada are simply imported from an American source. I just hope EMI Music Canada aren’t waiting for their American counterparts to just import some. I haven’t yet seen a DVD released by Picture Music International here in Canada. :(

to irvye - The Ballad compilation isn’t nessesarily tied to the DVD’s release. These are independent releases and they may still choose to simply import a few copies of the Ballad compilation for Roxette fans in Canada.

to ditroia - I believe the current Region 0 Pal version of the DVD works on computers but a domestic version would be cheeper. Importing requires s&h fees, custom handling fees and duties, so it can get quite expensive.
The resolution of Pal may be greater but it would be converted back to NTSC anyway on my television if I had a multi-zone or Pal compatible player. I’ve seen these videos in NTSC and own a NTSC version of “Roxette - The Videos” so it makes no difference to me. But if Emi Music Canada do decide to scrap the release, I will probably import it.

Thank you for passing this along! If they had any clue of what they were doing, they’d manufacture an NTSC version of the DVD and market the same DVD in Canada and Central/South America. Let’s hope they actually do this! The Ballads Greatest Hits CD will be released in Canada eventually, too, it’s just a question of how long after the European release...
