Am i the only one who is fed up with recored companys milking us for our money Roxette dont need any more gh cds they have enough we NEED new stuff not old stuff Per writes enough to have albums out every 3 months so come on stop making fans pay out for songs we already have.At least remix the songs or something

Indeed, Mark. The recordcompanies just throw out cd’s and try to make money out of old stuff. It’s not only about rox-related and old stuff - the whole buisness is all rotten...

yea me too fed up of gh albums , you see if rox release gh albums after 10 years , we would love them , but after every album , a gh is released having all the old songs .hhhhhhh.it’s too much.they can remix the songs too, that would make the listeners love roxette more.

I don’t know why so many people are angry about Greatest Hits Albums, we are fans and I am happy to buy everything from Roxette! There will be a new cover design with new photos a new compilation of the songs and so on. I would also buy it if there would’nt be 1 or 2 brand new songs on it. I am a fan and I buy every release!
Look at Madonna, on GH Volume 2 there is NO new song, that is really commercial!!
Finally with every CD, Roxette are again in the media, on the radio and in magazines. People again take notice of the band and that is important too and with 2 albums in a short time Roxette can defend their huge popularity.
I am also always happy to know that the old classic Roxsongs will find new buyers, now 7 years after th e first GH album it is a good time! Look at ABBA, since 1982 they have released many GH albums without new stuff and all have been Charttoppers and receiving Gold and Platinum and these GH albums were a reason that new fans of my generation (I am 22) got to know the music of ABBA and the same could be with Roxette!
It’s just my opinion but I am happy about every new release and I think we should be thankful, the time between DBGTTC and HAND was more than 3 years and the time between HAND and RS was 2 years, now between RS and the ballads are only 1 and a half year and some month later we will already get a second release! that is great, so much Roxette in a short time!!!

Another greatest hits compilation would be fine for me, provided a seperate single or ep containing the new material in this compilation is released. Fans should need to buy the same material over and over again to get a few new songs.
I will not purchase any new greatest hits compilation myself. I’m quite happy with the 1995 compilation and I’ve heard it wont be released in Canada anyway.

And this discussion is more about the marketing-policy of record-companies than about the artists. It’s not really a Roxette-topic (although it would have been nice in my opinion if Roxette would have distanced theirselfes from this policy and released an EP or a live-CD instead).
I buy a CD because of the songs, and not because of the cover (although I’m glad if there is a booklet with lyrics and details about the songs etc). So if I want a CD because of 2 songs, I would try to find a friend who bought it and copy these two songs. So you’re right, noone (except one friend) needs to buy them.
Someone said, there are some bands who release “Best of”-CDs without any new song. I think this is fair, because you needn’t buy it if you already have the original albums, but it makes sence for someone who only wants the singles.
But its a free world, and everyone can release his Best-of-CDs as often as he wants and everyone is free to buy them or not to buy them, to copy the songs or not to copy them and to write down his opinion in this forum.

well, not exactly. have you heard about something like ’rights on the record’? so, in fact, no one should copy any songs of any (original) CD and it is illegal. (that doesn’t mean that I don’t do it myself sometimes, just to make it clear...)

It’s ILLEGAL to sell copies without permission or to make songs available for everyone (for example in the internet) without permission.
But it’s NOT ILLEGAL to copy songs from an original CD for a friend if it’s for private use only (at least that’s the situation in Germany).

Warning - “Private Copying” in Canada and the United States is allowed provided the person owning the copy also owns the actual recording from which the material was copied and it’s use is private. A person cannot distribute recordings to friends here without written consent.
