I’m sending this msg just to let you know of this particular aspect related to Greatest Hits albums.
There has been a lot of talking about fans not wanting thie upcoming GH CD from Roxette! I can’t see why... remember that Per always mentioned wanting to release a special Rox Box Cd set with all Roxette material...and that is what i think this release is going to be about! Anyway we have to wait and see... Definitively it’s not another DBGTCH album... (and don’t forget that the US version released here was only a bonus CD if you wanted it then you bought ...it didn’t make any big difference...)
What is Aerosmith doing here?
Well like Roxette they are releasing a second Best Of Cd after two studio albuns release in 97 and 2001. The first GH CD was “Big Ones” in 1994
This is exactly the same with Roxette. In 1995 DBGTC was released then 2 studio albuns in 99 and 2001... why not a another much more completed Roxette Hits Compilation... with tracks that were released as single but never made it into the GH CD... it is fair now that they take that position and probably with a few extra tracks from the studios albuns..but once again and let’s wait and see... I’m dying to hear the new single...and i don’t give a damm about what the GH album is gonna be like... there is always another new album later on...
You have to understand that today people are much more interested in having artist’s GH CDs that their others studio albums (it’s wrong to think like this but it’s reality...people can’t find time to listen to music for real) they don’t want to spend money for just one or two tracks as they say all the time. It’s not the same with us fans who are much more interested in the whole work... for that reason it’s logical the new Roxett release might be quite successful under those circumstances...but if not i don’t see Per and Marie worried about it. They always prefered doing music with passion rather than for money... they have achived a 15 years carrear and have won a lot...they feel well with that already...the rest is pure enjoyment in doing music and like or not they will always continue...

There will be a new cover design with new photos a new compilation of the songs and so on. I would also buy it if there would’nt be 1 or 2 brand new songs on it. I am a fan and I buy every release!
Look at Madonna, on GH Volume 2 there is NO new song, that is really commercial!!
Finally with every CD, Roxette are again in the media, on the radio and in magazines. People again take notice of the band and that is important too and with 2 albums in a short time Roxette can defend their huge popularity.
I am also always happy to know that the old classic Roxsongs will find new buyers, now 7 years after th e first GH album it is a good time! Look at ABBA, since 1982 they have released many GH albums without new stuff and all have been Charttoppers and receiving Gold and Platinum and these GH albums were a reason that new fans of my generation (I am 22) got to know the music of ABBA and the same could be with Roxette!
It’s just my opinion but I am happy about every new release and I think we should be thankful, the time between DBGTTC and HAND was more than 3 years and the time between HAND and RS was 2 years, now between RS and the ballads are only 1 and a half year and some month later we will already get a second release! that is great, so much Roxette in a short time!!!

Well... it’s your money..... and you spend it in what you want... but you value Roxette for only a different sleeve and booklet? i mean.... is their music so cheap for you that you buy only cos it has a new pic on the cover?..... but anyway.. this quotes says it all

I wish they’d release brains (yeh grey material).... so some fans could buy something useful for themselves....

I don’t agree. I think what Roxette do now is ridicilous. I know that all the artists do this now, every three years a new “Best of” for christmas with almost the same songs +2 new songs. Maybe for Roxette it’s a kind of a compromise, because they want to release some new material on the one hand but on the other hand they can’t do it now because EMI has some trouble (that’s what I think).
But I think that these kind of releases make it worse for the music-industry. Who wants to pay 18,50 EUR for an album he bought already three years before, just because there are 2 new songs on it? Than it’s easyer to get it from the net or copy the CD from a friend.
A “Best of”-Album is very cheap for the record-company, and it makes sence. But it makes no sence to repeat this again and again (like Gyllene Tider do in Sweden every summer). Than the record companies should not wonder that their sale-figueres decrease. They should spend their energy in artists and their music to release albums that are worth the money they demand.
