what is good news about this release - is that there is a decent amount of time between the radio release and the single release - this is good. Maybe it means that Roxette are going to do some really decent promotion before the single hits the shops!

Its a sad situation :( Go on Rox make my day and be number 1 in the UK just for once!!! It would really piss the critics off!! .......I guesse it depends on how much they’re worth to EMI as to how much EMI will push it......Kylie and Robbie belong to EMI though so I guesse thats where the money and desire went!! (something they know will sell with minamal effort) *sigh*

Now I’ll get flamed for being negative (even before the single has come out!! shock horror!!).....but if we all look at the situation we all know whats going to happen :P Everything of the above!! (appart from the UK #1 bit !!)

I’d love to be wrong on this!!! *crosses fingers* >;)

Vix - I totally agree with you. I always walk in to my local virgin megastore and expect to see Roxette lined up on the new release shelf - and instead they are hidden - with just like four copies of the single at the back of the store in the deepest darkest section!

I think the real way to get a hit in the uk is to be stocked by Woolworths - as they are the main singles seller. But they are very selective about who they stock - shelf space at a minimum and all. The last Rox single they stocked was WICF and before that it was RTY!!!!!! 1995!!

Ah well, I join the realist, cynical club!

Many non-Roxette fans know their lyrics - and that’s impressive, ’cause English isn’t an easy access language to brazilian people.

MATAH was quite well, in Rio (where Globo TV headquarters is - the TV network responsable for that soap opera where MATAH was played).

SMT, IMHBL, LTYH, are unforgettable and always asked.

The majestic WICF it’s in unexpected people’s mouth - who they are? Mostly my colleagues, who don’t like Roxette even a bit like me.

A remember seeing a small black boy once in a mall, accompaining IMBL lyrix, with the lips - he was singing without voice, you know.

The only problem is that we don’t have lots of news from them in radios, like Shakira, Britney, Linkin Park, U2 and other artists do. But they are the trendy bands and/or stars.

A-ha had its new album release anounced in big radios, but I still didn’t listen to ’Forever Not Yours’.
So...

Believe me...or better saying, I believe that with this title, A thing About You, will be something like SMT...but with more beats...it’s strange to stay, it’s only in my head. At least is lot more...huh...”sugarish” than MATAH.

And now, believe me...will go worth here in Brazil, no matter the size of its promotion. But, as my topic mentioned...let’s really flood every place with ATAY requests!!!!!

Placing requests with radio stations is also another thing that never works in the UK.......how many ppls (UKer’s) can honestly say they’ve heard ppls request Rox stuff on UK radio station in .....lets say.....the past 7 years......I bet you can count the amount of times its happend on one hand :P....infact .....I don’t need any hands to count that ;)

Anyway....placing requests early is also damaging....does nothing but piss the radio stations off......as does placing requests too many times!....unless of course they haven’t played your track yet. ;)

My thought is that the song will be on the net b4 it hits the radio stations :P

All, that I said is that to buy rox stuff here is complicate, we must import a lot of things, and of course pay more for it. Roxette always goes very well in brazilian charts of course, that’s why I think they should promote more the albuns around here. Roxette made three videos , TCOTH, Real Sugar and MATAH, from RS but only the last one was played at MTV Brazil. I agree with you and Tinytim that Roxette should release more new songs instead of putting re-releases and compilations out to the world. But, unfotunately, anyway, we here in the US won’t get anything. I just wish Roxette could and wanted to get a record deal here. It’s kinda obvious that they don’t want to get a record deal here. They just forgot about the fans who live here! I’m one of them. :-(!!

You’re welcome... I agree with you, if we get together we can do a lot of things, good for us and for Roxette. And about the sitiation of the fans in USA I can imagine how hard it is. That’s a pitty, looks like Roxette gave up of USA and forgot their fans... They should reconsider their opinion about releases and promotions over there.
