THE BEST SONG WRITTERS IN THE WORLD?

Have any suggestions? Try to give lyrics in English…(so the majority of us can understand them)

Björk: (I never knew that it was supposed to be pronounced ‘Bjurk’… well, I know now) As one of the most talented producers & artist in the world she can also write the most poetic & meaningful lyrics in the universe. Her unique song writing style shall always remain in my heart: All Is Full Of Love
You’ll be given love, you’ll be taken care of
You’ll be given love, you’ll have to trust it
Maybe it’s not from the sources you’ve poured yours
Maybe it’s not from the directions you are staring at
Thrust your head around, it’s all around you
All is full of love

George Michael: His latest examples, ‘Freeek!’ & ‘Shoot The Dog’, don’t really offer an acceptable equivalent but his song ‘Jesus To A Child’ has to be one of the most beautiful songs of all time. It’s the most expressive songs I’ve heard in my life, he really poured his heart & soul into it. The lyrics are simply amazing: Jesus To A Child
Kindness in your eyes, I guess you heard my cry
I’m blessed, I know heaven sent, heaven stole
Loveless and cold in your last breath, you saved my soul
Sadness in my eyes, No one guessed, no one tried
You smiled at me like Jesus to a child
And what have I learned from all this pain
I thought I’d never feel the same about anyone or anything again
And now I know when you find a love, when you know that it exists
Then the lover that you miss will come to you on those cold, cold nights
When you’ve been in love, when you know it holds such bliss
Then the lover that you kiss will comfort you when there’s no hope inside

Natalie Imbruglia: There’s nothing particularly amazing about her song writing style but no one can doubt the power of her words: Hurricane
It came on like a hurricane and I don’t understand
And it moved me like a snow dance, still I don’t understand
It pushed me like a tailwind and I don’t understand
And it came in through the back door and I don’t understand, still I don’t understand
You’re all that I can be and I’m falling on my knees
Hurricane, pulled me out of the past, landed me in today, hurricane

Alanis Morissette: As one of the most expressive & angry song writers of all time, Alanis Morissette has proved herself time & time again that she knows how to write songs that most likely even frighten her: Your Congratulations
I wouldn’t have compromised as much, so much of myself for fear of having you hating me
I would’ve sung so loudly it would have cracked myself!
I became self-conscious of anything exuberant
I wouldn’t sold myself short
I would’ve kept my eyes glued to the ground if I had have known invisibility
It would not make a difference if I would’ve run around screaming proudly at the top of my voice
I would have said it was in fact luck but I’m talking idealism here
I wouldn’t have been so self-deprecating
I wouldn’t have cowered for fear of having my eyes scratched out!
I wouldn’t have cut my comfort off
I wouldn’t have feigned needlessness
I would not have discredited everyone of their compliments
But it was your approval I wanted
Your congratulations

Nina Perssons: As with Natalie Imbruglia, there’s nothing majorly important about her song writing style but she’s still one of the most beautiful lyricists in the world: My Misery is a Mystery
Oh my misery is a mystery, she’s my mistress when she’s with me
And I miss her when she’s history, oh my misery is a mystery
Oh mysterious delirious, why is happiness so furious
And it is tiring to be curious, my europhia is dangerous
Oh how glorious to sleep in between a raging day, it’s the sweetest release
Holy Moses, life is roses, just be weary of the process
Give it water in small doses and cut it down when it’s furious

i think the best are:

GESSLE
Björn Ulveus o Benny Andersson

Per Gessle
Björn & Benny from ABBA
Desmond Child
Dianne Warren
Bryan Adams
Robert “Mutt” Lange
Rick Nowels

Best songwriters ever..... and faaaaar ahead of each one of those... : Lennon & McCartney
don’t need to explain why...

and then Per :)))))
and anyway.... i don’t care too much about lyrix... unless they’re too stupid...
music is everything..

Carole King
David Foster

well, some of them have already been mentioned here : Per, Bjorn & Benny, Lennon & McCartney... being a fan of Bruce Springsteen, I love his lyrics as well.... Bono writes damn good too... I also like the lyrics by Travis and Alanis Morissette...plus some Polish ones

Bob Dylan of course

@freshhold I really agree with Bono
Jon bon jovi is also a great writer!!!!!!

small talker i think u need to mention to that at least 2 of the people u mentioned usually co-write most of their material..there are few great song writers per is on, john lennon, deloroes o’riordan, the members of duran duran, joni mitchell

Billy Corgan, Tori Amos

of course Per Gessle....

but there are a few other very good writers.
For example JON BON JOVI! His ballads are
very emotional and the lyrics perfect...

Does anyone know ORANGE BLUE?
They’ve got some great ballads like “She’s got that
light” and “Who Am I”. Great!!

MARIE FREDRIKSSON writes good music, too....:-)

ALANIS MORISSETTE
&
Per
Chris de burg

Of course Bruce Springsteen!!!! Have you heard the song “Badlands”. There is a part of this song that tells you:

“Poor man wanna be rich, rich man wanna be king, and a king ain’t satisfied till he rules everything”

The best lyrics of the world!!!

PER GESSLE!! PER GESSLE!!! PER GESSLE!!!!

also Lennon & McCartney (OBV)...uhm... Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac... The BeeGees... Scott Stapp.... Cat Stevens... well probably LOADS more that i cant think of!!!

but still... PER GESSLE!! PER GESSLE!!! PER GESSLE!!!!

Per Gessle ( Roxette)
Martin Gore ( Depeche Mode)
Michael Cretu ( Enigma)

Tracy Chapman is a fantastic song writer. Her songs are quite political...but then again, Fast Car is brilliant and of course, Baby Can I Hold You...what Boyzone covered.

TC is cool - I know Per would agree.

;)

Per Gessle
Vince Clarke (Erasure, early DM, other side projects)
Michael Cretu (Enigma, Sandra, etc.)
Dieter Bohlen (Modern Talking, Blue System, & a bunch for other artists)
Benny & Bjorn (not only ABBA, but some GREAT Musical scores)
Danny Elfman (Oingo Boingo and a ton of film scores like Batman, Simpsons, etc)
Martin Eriksson (E-type… the king of EuroDance)
Chris Isaak (great stuff)

oops! I forgot a few...

Marion from Alphaville
Jonas & Ulf from Ace of Base

Marie Fredriksson & Per Gessle - what can I say here? You all know about that one, I’m sure :-)

Alanis Morissette - so soon I ’found’ her (I mean, I have known her popular songs, but no other stuff...) and now, when I have heard her albums I’m just speechless.....

Sheryl Crow - she’s always so sincere... and always gives the best of her, she haven’t ever disappointed me with any song.

Michael Cretu - Enigma, Sandra, solo, Trance Atlantic Air Waves, an album made with Andru Donalds and so on and so on.... and I like almost all of his work (except some songs from the early solo albums). That’s the man!

oh yeah... forgot Simon & Garfunkel, and uhm... there was another... dammit!!! cant remember!!
*smacks head with a frying pan trying to remember* nah, cant think!!!

will be back.......

gessle and ABBA’s boys.

Are you lot dumb! It has to be PER GESSLE!!!!!!!!

Lennon and McCartney, Joakim Berg (Kent), Morgan (the Bluvertigo songsmith), Neil Finn, Goran Vasovic (Eva Braun), Per Gessle, Noel Gallagher, Ian Brown/John Squire (The Stone Roses), Bono/The Edge, Santi Rodriguez, Tom Petty... there are many.
