What are the best albums of all time!
Small-talker said on June 25, 2002 13:51:
What album do u think is deserved of being crowned best album of all time (please don’t pick every Rox album)
I’d like to vote the Madonna album ’Ray Of Light’...
Every track rulz, even the demos of the tracks that didn’t make the album could’ve been singles with a little help! Gone Gone Gone, Like A Flower & Revenge are just some of the demos that didn’t make the album but I can see Gone Gone Gone making the UK top 10 if it had a good video...
The Japanese bonus track ’Has To Be’ would be the high-light of any other artists album but it just blends in nicely with the rest of the album tracks - proving how great Madonna is at what she does. To think that there are people out there mouning that Madonna’s the queen of the music industry - Madonna totally deserves to be the queen of the music industry and anyone who thinks otherwise seriously needs to listen to an album.. from Like A Prayer - GHVII anyway!
PS: The Immaculate Collection totally deserves to be the best compilation album EVER! Almost every Greatest Hits collection has a low point... (even DBU-GTTC had low-points such as Vulnerable, CBB, The Big L... and don’t get me started with the new tracks!!!) where as TIC never stops with the hits and the new songs are excellent... well, Rescue Me isn’t the best but if it was on Roxette’s greatest hits it would equal songs like Listen To Your Heart or Almost Unreal (well, the ’great’ status anyway)
PPS: I didn’t create this topic to annoy Rox fans, just a comparision towards Madge & Rox was oblivious seeing as I’m in a Rox forum now...

I agree with Small-Talker this time, Ray of Light IS oine of the greatest albums in pop history. I mean, it has so many new things, it’s really something like no one had done before.

Ray of light? A very good album, but I´m kind of surprised to find it in a dicussion of the best albums ever. But it´s got some fantastic singles...
I would vote for Goodbye yellow brick road with Elton John or Eat to the beat with Blondie. But my absolute favorite is still Crash! with Roxette with HAND as a brilliant runner up.

THE best abum EVER?
I’d go for a split first place:
’Wishmaster’ and ’Angels Fall First’ by Nightwish.
’Pearls of Passion’ comes in second...
Just the three albums I need to stay alive...

If you;re talking about non-personal taste, but really the best ever, I think it’s either Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles, or Nevermind by Nirvana.

Mine is U2’s Achtung Baby, closely followed by DBU-GTTC. Honourable mentions: Garbage’s Version 2.0, Depeche Mode’s the singles 86-98, Simple Minds’ Cry, Moby’s Play, R.E.M.’s Automatic for the people, Savage Garden’s Savage Garden and Mecano’s Descanso Dominical... Nice...

Roxette - Tourism (made during a tour, brilliant)

I don’t like that Madonna is so commercial!! Her Greatest Hits albums are not fullfilled. On IMMACULATE there are missing hits like “True Blue” or “Who’s That Girl” which were more succesful than “Lucky Star” or “Borderline”.
Also on GH Volume 2 there’s missing AMERICAN PIE, a European No.1 Single!!!!!! And only 15 tracks, furthermore no new track, that’s very commercial.
And her DVD’s (Immaculate Collection and Videos 1993-99) are very incomplete. That’s so stupid, Roxette did 35 (!!!) videos on 1 release!! And Madonna was not able to have 35 on 2 DVD’s although there are enough videos and hits existing!!
Ronney said on June 26, 2002 18:59:
Dear Ingo,
the things you mention about Madonna are all a matter of marketing. What does it say about her music? nothing at all!?

Now I´m going to take you as far as 1982, when British new-vawe group ABC released their debut-album The Lexicon Of Love.
What a masterpiece! You don´t often find an album with ALL songs great! It´s very rare nowadays.
Talking about Madonna I only like a few songs from ROL album: The Power Of Goodbye (her BEST song ever! Love it! A video clip is awesome too!), Frozen and Nothing Really Matters. There are some songs on the album I can´t stand as Ray Of Light and Drowned World.
I was a huge Madonna fan in the ‘80´s and early ‘90´s, I could talk about her for ages!
She´s a wonderful and smart business-woman!
I love Madonna´s Something To Remember album, which is a ballad collection released in the mid 90´s. I just wonder why beautiful Spanish Eyes from Like a prayer album is missing.
Other marvellous Madonna ballads: Live To Tell, You´ll See, Love Don´t Live Here Anymore (even it´s not by her originally, it´s a cover.)
My BEST Roxette CD is HAND.
Best wishes to all of you!
S.
