Childhood songs!
Small-talker said on June 14, 2002 12:35:
Were you ever just listening to the radio and some old songs like REMs: Shiney Happy People’ comes on and all of a sudden all these memories come rushing back! Well, what songs make you think about childhood!
(bare in mind that I’m just 16)
Mine are:
REMs: Shiney Happy People
Catatonia: Moulder & Skully
The Cranberries: When You’re Gone
Sheryl Crow: All I Wanna Do, A Change Will Do You Good
Sinead O’Connor: Nothing Compares To You
The Rembrandts: I’ll Be There For You
Madonna: Holiday, Like A Virgin, Material Girl, True Blue, La Isla Bonita, Cherish
I know that some of the songs are almost-recent (The Rembrandts - 1995, Catatonia - 1997) but seeing as I was only 9, 11 (respectivly) when these sonsg were out I think they still count... for me anyway

Well, when I was a kid, I listened to Roxette and Ace of Base -already in 1994 I loved to listen to C!B!B! which is now my favourite album.. And when I was seven I loved to whistle that Joyride-tune. But a really Rox-fan I have been only 4 years now.
But the songlist:
AOB: Angel eyes (I still love this song!)
The Connels: 74’ 75’
...(can’t remeber who is singing it)..: Lemon tree
Some songs from New Kinds on the Block (can’t remember the names)
Madonna: Cherish, Material Girl, Like a Prayer
Take That: Babe and others
..and so on..

Actually it was only one guy called Alex Christensen! He basically hired a different singer for every track...
He’s a pretty successful producer these days (e.g. Rollergirl, ATC - sidenote: some of their songs where written by people signed to Jimmy Fun Music/Tom Bone Music and therefore released on one of those labels!) and was one of the three persons in the jury of the second German edition of the TV-show “Popstars”. He just released a cover of “Rhythm of the night” which was a huge hit for Corona in 94. As far as I can remember, it’s the first time ever one of his songs is actually released under his name!
BTW, I met Alex back in may 97 - not that i wanted to meet him, but he happened to visit a radio station in Stuttgart the same day as Per, so I had no choice ;-)

It’s a bit harder for me to remember... but let’s see a couple of them:
Bon Jovi: Livin’ On A Prayer
Roxette: The Look
Guns N’ Roses: Sweet Child O’ Mine (and actually tons of other GNR songs)
Dr. Alban: Hello Africa (:-D)
Don’t really remember... I gotta look at my old cassette collection for the tapes I had back then.
