GH2 - beginning of the end or of a new chapter?

I wonder what the reasons for the release of another GH-album is? Is EMI that stupid, to think they could make a lot of money by releasing another album with the same old songs? I guess only “hardcore-fans” are really anxious to get this record to have a complete collection.

So actually there are two possible reasons:
1) LET’S FULFIL THE CONTRACT AND RETIRE
Per and Marie are tired and just want to get out of the contract by releasing two albums with mostly old songs and very few new songs.

2) LET’S EMPHASIZE ROXETTE’S AMAZING SONGS
EMI tries to make buyers pay attention to Roxette’s old hits. When the public realizes that they have had so many great hits, they might buy a brandnew record. But it doesn’t make sense if the next new album is released in 2041!
Actually the American record company followed this strategy with DBUGTTC 2000, but it didn’t work. It’s no surprise I think, because it would have been better to try to re-capture the American market with a real strong single...

this first option........... :(

Maybe it´s not a “Greatest Hits”. Talks were about a “best songs” thing, which might mean there are album-only tracks included.

Of course it´s still a collection of songs we already have, but to be honest I´d appreciate it much more to have “Crush On You” on a new compilation than the 25th version of “The Look” ...

I understand what you are saying - but by releasing another GH album, this will fall-in well with the plans to do NOTP, it is not a fans choice - but it is a correct commercial choice in my opinion. After all they will be playing greatest hits at NOTP...so why not release another (or 2) GH compilations. Only if they promote them correctly wil it be worth it though.

Well this must be considered as the first GH-albums sice 1995. The US version of DBUGTTC was released in Europe but not really promoted.

7 years is some time after all. I think it could work with one ballad-album and one up tempo-album. The hits are so many now. It´s not possible to squeeze them in on one cd.

It’s right that a lot of time has passed by since the first GH-album. But unfortunately only very few hits followed after 1995.
In Germany only WICF, Stars and TCOTH got acceptable charts positions. MATAH was a huge radio hit and RS got also a lot of airplay, but they both failed in the charts.
So basically GH2 will include a similar tracklist to DBUGTTC, otherwise it won’t be a GH-album.

Btw, I still hope that we maybe misunderstood something. Has Per really said there will be a kind of GH-album? Didn’t he mention COMPILATIONS, which means that something like Tourism could be possible as well?

Per said he’s writing or recording songs for the new album after the GH stuff right now...so album will be there in 2003 prob. No need to worry I guess...first have a good time at NOTP (with the Cd and DVD which will both be probably released if you dont live in the neighboorhood)

There won’t be a NOTP DVD. Sorry.
