and let me explain, from my point of view, why MATAH and not MWMLML. the former has a more catchy lyric, it is the song you just love to listen to in the morning with the scent of freshly ground coffee in the air, it teaches you how to get happy about the small things in life. The other song is beautiful, but a bit too serious, I think. Anyway, just my opinion.

I do think that MWMLML is great song, one of my favourites actually. I like it sooo much and in my opinion it is some way better than MTH. So, I think the best RS single choices were TCOTH, RS, MTH, MWMLML (or MWMLML, MTH) and then maybe Fool. But with some strong promotion!! (Maybe EMI wouldn’t do any for 4th and 5th single, that’s why not release).
yes, my world.. is a bit too serious, but hey, what about the strong Roxette ballads, aren’t they serious? (IMHBL, listen to your heart, fading like a flower, etc...)
and I agree about Crush On You!! Perfect song for single! (instead of Stars maybe?)

BUT!
Roxette has been making big hits with serious and not so happy ballads
examples:Listen to your heart
It must have been love
Spending my time
Fading like a flower
Queen of rain
Crash! Boom! Bang!
So still if u compare MATAH with MWMLML the first one stands small and insignifigant with its simple happy almost naive lyrics towards the powerful lyrics and music of the second one.
And DEFINATELY MWMLML has a CATCHIER chorus than MATAH

Gyllene - very good point, well made. I am in the advertising business, and when my clients turn to me and say - I don’t like the advert - I tell them: I don’t care, it is not for you to like or dislike - it is for your customers!’ The same goes for music, just cos one person don’t like one thing, doesn’t make anyone right or wrong.
But I love COY, and I always ;play it really loud when driving through the city - especially when per is singing...I think the lyrix are so funky!

only when i dream i thought we were talking art not advertising...and i could have said that im in the music bussiness as a songwriter for rock bands so i think i could express my opinion too versus to someone whos just advertising products...
i know that if we take an average song and advertise it properly it will be a hit but that doesnt mean anything...the song will still be average for those who can think and not just go with the flow.

As for objectivity on personal preferences - tell all the consumer psychologists and psycho-analysts they are wrong. Even for the same band each song is different - that is the beauty about being an individual...
...although isn’t it oxymoronic that the only thing that everyone has in common is that we are different! :D

yeah art does all that stuff too, but again it is about personal experiences and insights into one’s life. Advertising although commercial is about personal preferences and ideas too. It’s like saying roxette are not artists, because they sell their music to the commercial markets...the only true artists are those that keep it secret.
Okay Vaxjoe you don’t agree with me, then that is fine, that is up to you, but please do not criticise myself or what I do. I tried to bring comparisons to a discussion, not ridicule or insults.
I am too well educated and un-imposing to have a discussion about art and advertising over a message board. Have a read through the Frankfurt School of Thought, then realise what you are saying actually demoralilses and debases everything that Roxette stands for. In actual fact Roxette (according to them ) are just pseudo-individualists that have no creativity or individuality - along with all lower-forms of art.
I maybe don’t believe that, but that, my friend is what you are advocating.
