Someone uses my mailadress!

Hello to all!

It seems that someone is using my LYCOS-address to send out virusses. Just in case someone of you will reveice a strange message with my address as sender DON’T OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS!!!
Some of these mails were send to Roxette-related adresses so I’m sure the person who does this will read this side, too. So if you are here, STOP IT!!!!

P.S.: I already contacted the Lycos-webmaster and the police, since it is criminal to send out a virus as well as to write someone elses address as a sender of a mail.

Don’t panic.
Noone uses your mailbox. That’s just a virus I-Worm.Klez which now spread all the word.
When it affects someone’s PC it scans his address book and ICQ contact list for e-mails and sends messages with virus to all from this addressbook SIGNING as some other men from this addressbook. That’s simple to do using SMTP protocol. If you’ll see message detailes on a received message you’ll see from what IP address it has been sent. DO NOT run attachements.

Kaspersky LAB made an free antivirus which cleans yor system

and Microsoft released a patch for IE 5.x so that it will not automatically open this attachements:

No, it’s not a worm. I don’t have an adressbook on Lycos. Most of the addresses I have never seen before. I don’t think that someone uses my mailbox but someone seems to use my e-mailaddress as sender when he sends out messages.

be careful that when you write your code to enter at youu email, the code sometimes is recorded, maybe the hacker entered like this, it happened to me once, and since then i change constaly the code and i’m very careful, hope this can helps you and someone will catch this person that attacks you.
