Hi here´s the translation of the interview with Per from tv4.se 20/4. You can also find it at the roxettenews.com
Per Gessle, one of swedens real pop-veterans will perform in Bingolotto tonight. He is there to honour some of the big heroes from his youth, Ramones. - It´s ridiculous how fun it is to be able do this, we shines like little sunbeams on stage, Gessle says in the intreview.
The front person in Ramones, Joe Ramone, passed away in cancer almost exactly one year ago. To honour the influential rockband, a several swedish artists have recorded a tributealbum. Except Per Gessle you can also find Sahara Hotninghts, Wilmer X, Hellacopters and Backyard Babies at the album. - Actually I don´t like this kind of tributealbums. There is 13 in a dozen of them, Gessle explains. - And only because you like a band it doesn´t have to mean you are good at playing their songs, he continues.
“We was incredibly influenced”
- But it´s different with Ramones. They have been in leading quarters in my life. You know, I´m so old I had already started with music when Ramones released their first album, “The Ramones”. Me and MP ( Mats Persson, guitarrplayer in Gyllene Tider) had a littli musicproject together, Grape Rock, which later became Gyllene Tider. We was incredibly influenced by Ramones. The only album coming up to that level is Beatles “Revolver”.
Besides that, I immediately got an idea about how I wanted to perform this song, I want to be your boyfriend. It´s such a nice summerfeeling in it, which I want to keep. And really do it my own way, not try to immitate them.
New records on their way
Per is now 43 years old and have been working professionally with music since 1978 when he created Gyllene Tider. Since then he has had a great success, much thanks to Roxette which i started together with Marie Fredriksson 1986. No.1:s in the charts both in Sweden and worldwide, tours allover the world and millions of records sold maybe should have made them fed up with the success, but no. Today he and Marie finished a two weeks period of recording in the studio, where they are preparing for new records. This autumn a collection of ballads will be released and this spring a collection of up-tempo songs. -Yes, we have so many hits by now. But there will be som new material also, on both records. I´m writing new songs all the time.
“This is ridiculously fun”
But now after the Ramones there actually is some plans for a short break. - I´ll stay on my couch watching Formel 1. And I have a son who gets 5 in august so I think I will have things to do. But more than a week off is not very common. With this tempo and after so many years in the business, is it still fun?
-It is still as funny as it used to be. Actually it´s funnier because we are making the rules now. In the beginning we was tied up by a lot of contracts, now we don´t have to care about that. We only do what we like now. Like this Ramones-record. It´s so ridiculously fun to do playback in Bingolotto, we are like little sunbeams on stage!

i think he means on the ballads album will be some new songs and the uptempo-album will be completely new...
but RoomService should have been without any ballad Per said before the releasing of it...*g*
Otherwise, if these two albums will be only compilations this will be a sign that Per & Marie need money... :-))

Where did you get “THIS spring” there?
First the ballads, and then the uptempos - so the 2nd compilation will be out N.E.X.T year!

I wrote THIS spring because that´s what´s written in the swedish interview. I did not make it up by my self if that is what you thought.

I can’t find the original today, but I’m pretty sure it said “till våren” which means next spring. :)

So it is THIS spring (check www.roxettenews.com)
but hey, it’ll be summer in no time at all - I doubt the spring release.

Per didn’t say “this” spring and he also didn’t say “next” spring... - the translation on roxettenews.com isn’t correct
Here’s the quote of the TV4 interview:
”[...]I höst kommer Roxette med balladsamling och i vår kommer en samling med upptempolåtar.[...]”
He said “IN spring” (“i vår”) and he said that BOTH albums will be compilations (“samlings”).
I can’t speak swedish, but Starrox helped me with this 3 words ;)
Who knows if the statement of the mangement (which is written on roxettenews.com) is correct, but Per didn’t say clearly which spring, but he mentioned the up-tempo album after the ballads album.

OK, here’s the exact words and a plausible interpretation of what the interview said:
“I höst kommer Roxette med balladsamling och i vår kommer en samling med upptempolåtar.”
This means literally: “This fall Roxette will release a collection of ballads and this spring a collection of up tempo songs.”
This means in Swedish that a ballad collection will be released this upcoming fall and the other collection *next* spring. All according to the words in the interview. What I mean is that if the uptempo album was to be released this spring the wording should have been “this spring and this fall” in that order.

I hope this is a joke...... otherwise.... it is really sad.
