hopefully sweet Gabbe goes on his nerves really fast :)))))) and the F1 seasons is one of the most boring season ever ;))))))

the main CD-buying public now are ’youngsters’ who do no know any of the older Roxette hits...I mean I am 24, and my boyfriend is 19 and he has never heard of The Look, Joyride or any Roxette songs - except for It Must Have Been Love, but he needs prompting...

But as far as I could see the up-tempo record would be released THIS spring, not the next....
I can´t understand why they are doing this, are they seriously trying to bore us to death or what?!

@Ulrika: Hmm, actually I kinda assumed they were talking about next year since they were talking about “Ballads” (I wonder what the other album will be called... “Uptempo”??) in fall and then about an album in spring, but you’re right, they didn’t mention the year anywhere, so who knows?
Anyway, I really hope there won’t be too many old songs on them or at least new versions! Tourism 2 and 3 would be nice if they _really_ have to do this - like most or even all of us I absolutely don’t need another greatest hits compilation! *sigh* And they did record at least four concerts during the RS tour, so why not use part of those recordings?

You know what? I don’t want another version of those songs, too! That’s why I wrote “if they really have to do this” - if I have to buy the same songs over and over again, I want them to be at least slightly different from what I already have! And given the fact there’s already a release date for Ballads (even if it’s a saturday) I think there’s nothing else left I can hope for... :-(
BTW, assuming the uptempo album would be released next spring, it would mean that together with the new songs on Ballads, they had enough songs for a new album with only new songs by that time - so why not wait until then? But I guess that would mean there won’t be an album just in time for christmas - again! Just like back in 98 with HAND...

If releasing old songs is ABSOLUTELY necessary, some sort of fresh & new REMIXES of them would be A MUST...
I always thought it would have been great to see a follow up to the ORIGINAL ’Greatest Hits’ from 1995 - maybe in 2005. But now there’s no point since every other of their albums is a compilation. But I bet they’re going to do it anyway ;-)
Just having “så många hits vid det laget” does not justify releasing another GH’s AGAIN!!!

I really didn’t take it serious when I first read here about the “Ballads”-thing. But now that Per says it himself...what a shame. They always say that they are working on new material but now release old stuff. I prefer waiting a bit longer an get new songs instead of an album with mostly old ones (which I really love but already have) and some new ones which I don’t want to miss so I’m forced to buy the album. I mean it isn’t really fair: the fans will buy the album anyway even if there are mostly old songs on it. So if the other people are not interested in Roxette’s ballads they are still on the save side. This whole thing will only turn out good for me if those new songs are really really fantastic which I doubt now because it seams more like a filler to get enough ballads to release the album. But we’ll see...

I think Roxette have enough ballads to put out three ballads-only albums - so the new ones won’t be any filler (HOPEFULLY! :)
Anyway, I’d like it if they put some other old songs (not just the hits) on the forthcoming releases...
For instance a great candidate for the “Ballads” would be “The Rain” and for the uptempo album “Crush On You”.

Releasing a new Greatest Hits recording doesn’t make any sense to me. There IS a GH out already whith an excellent booklet (well apart from the weird cover-photo). Rox did not have any substantial hits after 1995. Everyone who wants to have a GH by Rox can go out and buy this one. Also, I don’t think it is going to be a success commercially. Everyone who got interested in Rox in the course of the last tour surely did already buy the old RoxGH and I bet won’t buy a new one.
Plus, releasing a new GH-LP does a lot of harm to Roxette’s backkatalog. No one will buy CBB or Joyride anymore which is regrettable because some of Rox’ best songs are album tracks, not singles.
The only thing that would make sense to me apart from releasing new stuff would be a Live-LP. Every single fan is eagerly waiting for this, but not for yet another GH!

It seems like Ingo is right, when he says there is a new Roxette album “ballads” to be released on 30th November.
Today there´s an interwiev with Per Gessle on tv4.se and he say´s there will be a new album this autumn with ballads and another one with more uptempo-songs next spring. Unfortunately it seems like they will be sort of “greatest hits-albums”, but with some new songs as well.
