Imagine my surprise as I was experiencing the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras - through the endless thumping dance beats from the passing floats, I suddenly hear CRUSH ON YOU !!!!!!!!
Yes that’s right - Roxette are indeed gay icons. It took me ages to recognise it because I was not expecting it at all. As far as I could tell they just kept playing the intro over and over again. Can’t remember if they had dancers behind the float doing the moves... must be the copious amounts of champagne...
Ace of Base - another band I believe should have gay icon status, also got a look in, with Beautiful Life.

But I thought:” It’s great they are playing Roxette, but can’t they play a better song ...” :-P... well, but it was fantastic .. but I recognized that the most played Artist at Mardi Gras were Jennifer Lopez and Madonna ...
But I liked Mardi Gras .. it was a colourful and really funny evening ... everyone in Sydney at that time .. don’t miss it ...
