WOW! I cannot believe it is almost 10 years since (I think) the best produced Roxette album was released. This album holds more memories for me than any other...yes I have been with them from Day one...but HaveANiceDay stands out and is played way more than the rest...I even heard the mistake in Beautiful Things the 1st time i heard it! (Anyone else hear it?)
Have a happy 10th B’day HaveANiceDay!!

The last 2 lines, the words things and seem, with the song being ’Beautiful Things’ with an ’s’ Maries sings “Beautiful Thing...Seems” The lyrics are written “Beautiful Things...Seem” Now who knows if it the lyrics or Maries singing the words wrong but in the verse:
Beautiful things
Like leaves on a tree
Beautiful things
The sky and the sea
Since you’ve been gone
No beautiful things
Seem beautiful to me
Marie sings it like:
Beautiful things
Like leaves on a tree
Beautiful things
The sky and the sea
Since you’ve been gone
No beautiful thing
Seems beautiful to me

A bit harsh to call that a mistake. I would just say thats due to Marie’s accent. Both ’things’ and ’thing’ work in that sentence though
bigbigbig_love said on January 12, 2009 10:53:
Not being harsh, If I were harsh I woudl have brought it up 10 years ago, just something I heard and never metioned!! It is a mistake either written or sung! Good or bad, it is no issue!

Nice memories. Still remember when I heard Wish I Could Fly for the first time. I thought first single will be up-tempo song. So fresh, dark and nice ballad. It’s still my favourite Roxette ballad. HAND sounds great, so modern and fresh. Now it’s a decade ago. Strange. We’re getting old.

I totally agree abysmo, it is a stunning album.
The part of Wish I could Fly that really stood out 1st was the piece that sounds like a plane running out of fuel but manages to take off again with the next piece of music!

Yes, that’s definitively best middle8 in whole Rox history. It kicked me completely when I heard it for the first time, such a fanstastic idea. Big orchestra mixed with loop drum, great song. I miss this kind of dark and depressing orchestral ballads.

a lot of fans moaned when it was released, but i always loved it and i actually think its my favourite rox album, though a couple of others follow very closely behind

True, feels like yesterday when I heard The Look in the radio for the first time. Was that really 20 years ago??

I would also agree, HAND is the BEST rox album....Very underrated 10 years ago, but it grows with time.... Nowadays joyride feels a bit dusty, CBB has special atmosphere, but nothing exciting today, but HAND still is and I´m sure, that I will be at least next 10 years :-)
It´s so strange to remember moment, when I saw Anyone video for the first time and it´s more than 9 years ago......it´s so strange......time is running..........
Wicf said on January 12, 2009 20:57:
CBB is the best Rox album, but it’s kinda stereotypical...
Joyride is the second best, but it contains too many uptempos, which is bad, because Roxette did their best ballads in this era (The Sweet Hello, Queen Of Rain, TWNBTS - this is something between like an uptempo ballad, but it’s so sad, so I consider it to be more a ballad...)
HAND is their third best, but I listen to it more often than to the others, because it contains many different elements, it’s the opposite of CBB. Shame that there are so many ballads, bacause Roxette did their best uptempos in this era (7twenty7, Pay The Price, Crush On You, TCOTH). And I always feel angry when I look at the singles choice:-p

Not yet HAND but Wish I Could Fly was premiered monday January 4 1999.
Back then it became a big hit but US of course. Remeber listenting to the world chart show and WICF reached #2 for several weeks only stopped by a new comer girl with her first single Baby One More Time errrr Britney something... After that came the black years in music BOY BANDS!!! haha and all the Beyonces to be replaced by Linkins Papas Aliens Limps and lots of lots of hiphop and rappers and bad guys and a white one too!! And lost in all of this gems like Stars (Roxette gone dance!?) A thing about you or even Milk and Toast and Honey with a not that good One Wish but good enough. Luckily for us weren’t that bad years in music Per got to his best at the moment Mazarin anyone? Marie is doing whatever she feels like The Change is and intriguing album with the most personal matters 2 people can share that many might find boring but with time is like a fine wine. SOAP was totally unexpected then EHM and most recent cool Party Crasher.
Ten years from WICF and the song still remains fresh. Now we can say a step in the right direction even it wasn’t as uptempo as we would have thought and liked. Next in line Anyone.... (and Pay The Price too)

That’s quite incredible - it’s really been ten years... Do you remember how impatient all of us were back then, as there had been such a long pause after CBB (if we don’t count the compilations released in between)? I remember rushing to one of the biggest stores in my hometown Yekaterinburg (Russia) that was going to have the album for sure, and how I listened to it non-stop afterwards! Actually, it now looks like HAND is my favourite album, as it is my only Rox CD that got worn out :) What I like about it is that it sounds so fresh and offers you something new almost in each song, so no matter what mood you are in, there’s always something that suits you there... It has vigour and inspiration - something I missed on RS later on... Thank you, Marie & Per, for that wonderful piece of music!

I remember the moment i came back from the store (Argentinians remember Galería Jardin first floor?) that rang to me to get my copy of HAND that just arrived from the supplier i put it on my stereo and when i pressed play there was a POWER OUTAGE!!! - Luckily my discman had battery enough to enjoy it and enjoy it and enjoy it....

hand. how could i forget that album? i had waited for it for 5 years! as soon as 2009 started i thought about its 1o-year anniversary. it was released on february 22nd
although i got it on feb 19th! and wicf was first airplayed on january 4th. when i first heard it i couln´t believe it was true. to hear marie´s voice again after such a long time! the fact it it was a ballad was a bit disappointing considering i expected an uptempo album, but rox was back, so who cared? besides, it was one of their finest ballads. it sounded so grown-up. and when i got the maxi single (which was released here, in argentina!), i fell in love with happy together. what a great song. and then, when i got to take a listen to the whole album i almost fainted. it was different, but beautiful. the following maxi singles were just as great but i´m still waiting for crush on you to be a single. where the heck are the almighty remixes? anyway, i think i never enjoyed a rox album as much as i did with this one. i mean, when i first heard look sharp, joyride, tourism, cbb, even pearls of passion, there never was such expectation. but this one... anyway, i love this record even though there are some tracks (such as 727, waiting for the rain, cooper and staring at the ground) that i don´t like. but the fact that i waited for so long made of this record one of my all-time favorites. conversely, i can´t say the same about room service, but that´s a different story...

I was working at a local video renting store and I had to go to a nearby town to get the cd, because my town never had a decent cd shop....LOL. I copied the cd unto cassette to listen in the video store when I was working. They didn’t have a cd player in the store. Everybody was surprised when I told them it was Roxette singing on the radio. They all said it sound so fresh. And I was overwhelmed by the album’s sound. Although I never got over the techno attempts!! And that irritatingly disgusting “Cooper” should have been left in a dustbin. LOL
The good old days....

When I heard WICF for the first time I was completely captivated. I still think that this is the best song Roxette ever recorded. As for HAND, I was disappointed when I heard it for the first time cos it was not Roxette I knew, it was so different. Strangely enough some people who didn’t like Roxette, started to like them after HAND. But I did listen to the album a lot, cos I was waiting so long for new songs and I missed Roxette so much. With time I get used to this sound, and I think the album is good, besides how can an album with COY, WICF and BT be bad?

What mistake?
BTW HAND is not my fav album has some really great songs but as a whole I don’t think it ever worked.
