No, Rox doesn’t fight with EMI. But you could compare Roxette in the UK and US with Ace Of Base’s worldwide situation. They used to sell millions of records but after a break the companies aren’t interested very much. AOB’s home label Mega was bought by Edel some months ago. No one seems to know what’s going on. Their album is ready since ages but delayed, delayed delayed. The other problem is that they have different record companies for Scandinavia, main Europe, USA (if they still have a contract with Arista) and so on.
In comparison we can be quite satisfied with EMI (now Capitol label) for Roxette!

hey people, i’m a roxette fan, but i wrote this discussion to talk about AoB, so please can you answer the question ? so for seems to be they have recorded the album with new songs, and the problme is which company will publish it, isn’t it ?

There isn’t much we know about the current situation for Ace Of Base. A speaker of the record company told several times that there would be meetings within the following weeks and after these dicussions he would be able to give more information and dates for the forthcoming releases. But this has basically never happened. Now this person which was the only connection for the fans to the record company seems to get fired or he is now responsible for other projects. He definitely shows up on the homepage anymore. Their website is shut down at the moment, but if you go to www.aceofbase.com you’ll find a note mentioning a new album that will be out in late summer (but we don’t know which year... so maybe it will be out in “late summer” 2214).
Meanwhile there were articles in Swedish newspapers saying that the record companies aren’t anxious to release the new stuff, that there are lots of difficulties because three record companies are involved. One for Scandinavia, one for America and a third one for the rest of the world. Jonas seems to be frustrated while they others have disappeared.
Originally the album was sheduled for fall 2000, but got always delayed. Now there are rumours about a possible release date for the album in fall.

The PW Crew is excited to announce that the return www.aceofbase.com and the linking of that site to ours, Perfect World.
For now, there is a temporary welcome page at the official site with a brief bit of very hopeful news: a4 is slated for a late Summer release, and that an exclusive pre-listen of the lead single will be added soon. We’ll keep you updated!

It’s also the case that Arista has the 1st option for a US release if they deside not to release the album (Working title A4 (=Album 4)) AOB is free to find an other compagny that will. And yes altough official they still working on A4 there are so many tracks ready they could release a 2 CDset. Which BTW they won’t.

I like Ace Of Base too. I just recently bought their “Singles Of The 90s” album. I already have their other albums. I’m anxious to hear new material.

Well here in Argentina the things are harder than ever for AOB... their last single on the radios was Life is a flower, ... But their stupid company released the american version (which LIAF isn’t oncluded)
since that time I’ve never heard again about them
dan-rox said on February 28, 2002 03:43:
companys just want money not music, so that’s why AoB has not the album yet, and something similar happened with Roxette, not many promotion and again out of USA, what a pitty !!!

I’m curious about the new album! Too bad that their record companies doesn’t want to release it yet. Would be a good time, the competitive isn’t so hard now.
There are a lot of rumours going around about the new songs and bandmembers but there’re no official news, exept those two sentences on www.aceofbase.com :-(

Waste of Space has an album all ready to be released, but they are, like Rox, fighting with their record company.
