I think he changed his sound at the right time. It’s refreshing for him and his fans and this type of music is the in thing at the moment. Per will be cool for the young kids and he will grow his fanbase as well. I don’t think he has gone out of his way to make another worldwide smash. He makes what he likes and it is the catchiest song of his in a long time. Good to hear something different. I would hate to be a big Bon Jovi fan hearing the same crap all the time. All up, a very smart move.
Should be a big hit in Sweden, it will take a lot of promotion to make any Per Gessle song (not matter how good it is) a hit worldwide. Of course there is every chance of the single and album not doing much internationally, but with the song being directed at a younger target audience who knows what could happen. A catchy dance album would have more of a chance of charting well nowadays than a TWATG 2.

Sorry I don’t agree, I you want attrack a younger audience you should make songs that is in their “time”, not songs that sound like 20 years ago, 10 years before they where born!. LOL
If you are a bon jovi fan listening to the same crap all of the time, then my question is why are you listening to crap then?
Per has been creating alot of “old” songs lately and I think he should go back to what he knows best, making good pop rock songs.
Imagine he has written a 60s folk song instead of writing It must have been love that day! comon I think he is wasting time and we and he is losing out
on his talent, time is ticking away and every second he spends on trying stuff out is time wasted on his talent... I don’t know if you get what I am trying to say... instead of trying stuff do what you know you are good at and stop playing around, you might be missing out on a good song while playing around with stupid things...
don’t get me wrong, I am very excited about the album and I have not heard the songs yet, but Silly Really is not by far his best work

He makes music and he wanted to make this kind of music and its perfect, if someone thinks that it´s a crap, just don´t buy it! it´s that simple. I didn´t buy a lot of albums recently because i think they are crap.

The career of Per Gessle is getting to much eclectic or heterogeneous, if you know what I mean. He jumps from the nostalgia 60’s-flavoured stuff of SOAP to 80’s dancefloor synth-pop. I don’t know if that for good or for bad. “Silly Really” is not bad, but after a few listenings I got tired of it. It doesn’t bring me any special feeling. It’s radio-friendly, maybe. It could chart with some promotion, at least in Sweden. But it doesn’t have a soul, it’s just another little commercial pop song, like many others you can hear in the radio these days.
Frankly, would you be as much excited about this song if it was sung by anybody else? Magnus Carlsson, for example. Haha!

You have to remember that this is a new Per Gessle SOLO album, not a new Roxette album. I’m sure if it were a new Roxette album, it would sound a bit more conventional. It is up to an artist to decide in which direction they want to take their art. Not everyone liked SOAP, but I’m sure it still sold well and has a lot of fans. At the end of the day it is his decision what he records.
Let him have fun, and just ignore the song in the mean time. Make a judgment call once you’ve heard the full album.

the song is predictable and does not change shape or gets more interesting after the first 10 seconds, it is just looping and looping and nothing special is added to the song, as for the other song, oh please he sounds like the bee gees in that song, that song is so bad, it would have been much better in a watg style but he sounds like the beegees with the ee ee parts, why he wants to copy a specific artist from the 80 is also beyond me

It has the same beat over the whole song, ok. But it´s not only loop. Check the part after the second refrain for example. It´s just a danceable PoP-song from second 0 to the end. This could be Roxette in 2008 in my eyes.
It has the same Songstructure like Kix. Thats what Per is the best in: Simply pop!
SOAP etc are nice ones too, i like them much. But it´s to much of it. over and over the same style is boring, so grats to Mr.G for this perfect change. Back to the roots.

I couldnt agree more! It does sound very Roxette, and I think it does have great hit potential. I can imagine a lot of people liking it as it is very contemporary and would fit well in the charts.....it’s just doubtful that people will have the chance to hear it and make up their own minds. There is basically zero chance of radio stations in the UK at least from picking up anything from Mr G., which is a shame as I could really see it doing well here if it actually had some airplay.
SOAP really bored me to be honest. It was alright for what it was, but it was pretty self-indulgent on Per’s part (though I did love Hey Mr DJ). With this song it sounds like Per is actually returning to what he does best...writing hit pop songs!

It sounds like a ripoff of ’Crush On You’ more than anything else. I’m sure Per knows that song was well liked and we have heard him ’borrow’ from other songs before. Hopefully it does really well at home and can be given a chance internationally.
