Trying to Rip Mazarin onto my ipod
ditroia said on September 1, 2008 09:18:
My Vista machine is not recognising the cd. I’ve tried using AnyDVD but no luck, I can’t access the cd and I’ve tried 2 copies.
Bloody EMI and their damned copy protection.
Any Advice
Cheers

EMI finally recognized this was a problem and the CP is now gone. Finally.

EMI don’t care about CP issues for the buyers, they realized that they can’t find a CP that can’t be cracked.

yeah I’m glad it’s gone, but I’m stuck with dozens of Cd’s that have it. Not to mention you can’t even play the cd in vista let alone rip it without cracking it.

I don’t know about Vista, but I have XP Professional. I remember I made 192kbps mp3 files out of Mazarin when I got it (same about The Change). I mean, I didn’t have to crack anything. I just put the CD into the CD drive. What was the point of the supposed Copy Protection? It didn’t work for me!!!

No problem with K3b (rip) or VLC (listening) on Fedora/Mandriva/Kubuntu, don’ t remember this one mp3 rip. soft name fow Windows, but it was also OK. But what I really hate is this kind of CD players software, there was one on the Hits collections if I remember correctly. After some weeks you have completely f**ked registers with Roxette Player, Depeche Mode player, A-ha player, Rasmus player ........ Grrr. Thank God for VLC player.

Some CD/DVD-players have a built-in protection that makes it hard to rip CDs. But AnyDVD works on all of these as far as I know.

I always thought EMI’s copy protection was kind of silly because my various Mac computers never even recognized it... I’d stick in the supposedly-copy-protected CD and iTunes would pop up asking if I wanted to rip it!

Well using XP I used to be able to rip that tracks easily using CDex but under Vista the cd will not load at all.

Still using XP here and have never had an issue ripping any CP disc, as you’ve said.
I think it’s odd that Vista would cause issues like that, but not entirely unexpected given some of the press it has received regarding DRM etc.
abysmo said on September 2, 2008 10:08:
Vista is well-known with all these music & movie ’digital rights’ restrictions. The same with many new programs versions, for ex. Nero.
Yea, CDex was what I used to on my XP when Audiograbber failed. Time flies so fast. :-D

Vista has worked flawlessly for me, but I think the Copy protection software is not compatible with it. If I wanted to I could pester EMI and say I want a CP free version of all my DRMed music.

Ok I updated to the latest version of AnyDVD and it worked.
I’m still pissed at EMI though.
