Rox / Per album in 5.1 ??

I was just wondering ... do you think Per has ever given any thought to this? Afterall, whether they’re dts-cds, sacd or dvd audio, 5.1 cds give so much more to the songs than a simple cd can.
Maybe the next compilation could be in 5.1 ?? Or even a DVD Single for his next project - that way it could be tried with just one song. I would love to hear it anyway.

Yeah I was surprised about the hdcd released roxbox - but they are still in 2.0 stereo. HDCD isn’t really all that great ! Nothing compared to sacd, dvda or dts 5.1 !!
Even the MTV Unplugged could have been 5.1 but wasn’t - quite unusual !!

I would love to have the albums in some form of 5.1...but i don’t think we should expect too much as the DVD-A & SACD is almost dead...not much new beeing released nowdays.
By the way, EMI has released a lot of Genesis albums in SACD, not sure if it’s all of them so maybe wee will see them i 5.1 someday...
I have a few SACD & DVD-A and I love how they sound...

The few SACD that have been released through the years are quite expensive if compared with the normal CD’s. That’s why they are not much popular. Besides that, I don’t think the human ear can hear the difference between 2.0 or 5.1 sound. And you need really expensive equipement, if played in an average stereo system would be the same.
I don’t really care about them, it’s just a trick from the music companies to milk the customers one more time. We have got the original albums on CD (if we had the vinyls or the cassettes previously), then the remasters, then the SACD’s, the DVD-A... what’s next? In the end, we have paid for the same album almost 6 times.
(No need to mention the countless compilations with the same songs).

Sorry to disagree with you 7twenty7 but if you listen to a 5.1 song compared to the cd master version, I think 9/10 you would HAVE to say it that 5.1 sounds a lot better - its not just a “trick” either, the separate channels allow the instruments to play with much more clarity than when they are just swooshed into the same sound. Even old recordings from the 70s come alive in this superior format.
If it is just a “trick” why are films and concerts always (with exception to Roxette’s mtv unplugged, BAH!) in 5.1 ? Because it gives a superior experience to just a stereo track.
@ Tev, yeah I guess you are right about that, though ! It would be nice to have just one Roxette song in 5.1 one day though !

There is one Rox song out in 5.1! Opportunity Nox on the Absolute 2003 DVD is mixed in, as far as I can tell, true 5.1! It sounds lovely.

What ! Really? Is there any way of getting hold of that Tev ?
Can it still be bought? Download ? I would really want to hear that !
tevensso (moderator) said on July 11, 2008 12:35:
It seems to be discontinued.

But I’m sure you can get it used on Tradera or eBay or similar. It’s probably not a rarity. Download, I don’t know, maybe!

You see, your are willing to spend money on a DVD full of songs by artists you don’t really care about... just to get one song! One song that you already got. That’s why the companies still develop this kind of stuff. It works, somehow.

i think the reason there’s no bnig push for this from most artists is the general listening audience doesn’t care. Personally the mastering on the rox box is the treatment they should give all of roxette’s back catalogue. The marino fellow in nyc who masters all of roxettes albums seems to muttle alot of their songs, probably on purpose to soften the rock sound of alot of their tracks. A perfect example of this is ther mix on songs like sleeping in my car. He lifted the keyboards in the mix and stiffled the guitars. And frankly cbb was mastered as tho it was recorded in a carboard box, the album sounds older thna joyride does on cd.
so say we all

I got the Absolute Hits DVD 2004, a Gyllene Tider song is included there but there’s no 5.1 sound

Well, the Marie remastered albums are ’HDCD’ (High definition CD). Even if they sound cleared and louder than her original CD’s, I don’t hear the difference if compared with any other remastered (no ’HDCD’) album, like ’The Pop Hits’.
I think ’The RoxBox’ and the latest compilation are ’HDCD’ discs too. I have to check it out.
