Dont bore us 8 millions?? Have A Nice Day 4 millions??? I dont think so,,,, For instance, according to the brand new Gessle book, hand sold almost 2 millions..
abysmo said on December 4, 2007 19:38:
HAND sold 1.400.000 during first month, in the end of 1999 it was more than 2.000.000 copies. It’ s now 9 years since it was released. Why not 4.000.000? And remember I wrote + -.

The sales number in the book are really conservative, don’t know why.Last year EMI said 70/75 million Roxette records, now the book says 55...
RJ1976 said on December 5, 2007 09:58:
Thats an easy one to answer ... 55.000.000 Albums... The rest is the singles and stuff... I think :-S ... *LOL*
andiW said on December 5, 2007 10:47:
For me the figures are a bit too high, too. Somewhere I read, that Roxette had sold 50 mill albums and 25 million singles. Makes a total of 75 mill.

CBB 6
DBU-GTTC 7
BEE 1,0
HAND maybe 2,5 mill
RS 1,5

Per have NEVER said that the sales of hand are more than 2 millions..and sure its been years since hand was released but albums just dont keep selling millions throught the years just like that, esp not an album like Hand that wasent that big to begin with.
Roxette-atic said on December 5, 2007 13:19:
@abysmo: I read your links but to come to the conclusion that HAND sold 4 millions just because it sold 1.4 millions in its firsts months think its a little bit wrong... Anyway...I just finnished reading the new Per book and its obvious that sales of 4 millions for HAND are too optimistic.
abysmo said on December 5, 2007 14:16:
Maybe you are right. I finded an article where Per says that HAND sold less than they predicted because of bad singles choosing. EMI UK wanted Anyone to be 2nd single, replacing Stars.
BTW HAND can sold much more with singles 1. Crush On You (feb 99), 2. Stars (may 99), 3. Wish I Could Fly (sep 99) or 1. Wish I Could Fly (feb 99), 2. Stars (may 99), 3. Crush On You (aug 99). Stars and Crush On You could be great summer hits. What a pitty, HAND was an excellent fresh album.

The obsession with album sales always slightly annoys me, I am afraid. Also, the figures very often seem to reflect wishful thinking. ;-)
I doubt lots of people (if any at all) buy HAND nowadays. My guess is that Joyride is the only recording which is bought by someone these days. But even these sales probably don’t amount to much. (My personal assumption is that Joyride sells something like 10,000 copies a year nowadays.) Just remember - we are talking about Roxette, a band that had worldwide success from 1989 to 1996 - we are not talking about The Beatles, U2, Madonna or The Police.

Just for the fun of it, wenn buying some x-mas presents I looked what they had in the stores from Roxette a.s. ... ( I live in Flensburg (D), and in Vojens (DK))
At Saturn they had every Album, beside Rarities from Roxette and even the Roxette Box in a nice display toghter with some other unimportant artists like Madonna *Cough* :-)
At Promarkt the same thing ... :-)
At Mediamarkt the same thing and they even had Mazarin, EHM, SOAP :-S *Wow* ... What made me wonder was, that they actually had “Shopping With Mother” :-O ...
In Fona they even had GT albums... but Fona is in Denmark...
Damn !!! I need a new Hobby :-)
Roxette-atic said on December 5, 2007 15:28:
I also think that HAND would have sold more with better singles choices. Maybe Stars, then Wish I Could Fly, then Crush On You and then It WIll Take A Long Long Time? Salvation and Anyone should never have become singles. And I remember lots of people here in TDR warning Roxette of releasing Anyone as the second single..
animalkingdom said on December 5, 2007 15:49:
Hey, in the DBU booklet it states that Roxette has sold 38 million albums so far. When adding the figures I realised they count Pretty Woman in too. So I’d say LS is around 8,5 million and Joyride 10,5. Tourism cannot be 7 million or so but I’d trust the sales of HAND hanging around 2 million.
Roxette-atic said on December 5, 2007 16:14:
Per in the new book : ” Tourism sold 5 million copies”.
abysmo said on December 6, 2007 13:34:
I don’t understand why they didn’t release It WIll Take A Long Long Time as a single. This song was used in American movie Runaway Bride, so this was great promo.

Years ago, when I was VERY little informed, I heard from a fellow-Roxette fan that “Rarities” sold 1 million copies. Does anybody know how much “Rarities” actually sold.
In many articles I’ve read over the years, they mentioned that HAND sold 3.4 million copies worldwide. I also read in a local magazine a while back that TBH sold 2 million copies. Is there truth in this?
Kalmia43 said on December 6, 2007 15:00:
It WIll Take A Long Long Time as a single is a joke. It’s a boring ballad, there is no passion there, like in Salvation (that could have been a hit if more promoted, and with a more “normal” video). It’s flat, the HAND song I like the least....
Roxwriter said on December 6, 2007 23:13:
I think Roxette-Attic is much closer to the mark.
Pearls of Passion would not have sold a million copies.

I Will Take A Long Long Time could have made a successful single, but the song itself is almost terrible. They should have included modern rock version on HAND, without those annoying strings :p
