A Question about "Beautiful Things"...

I read somwhere that the music from “Beautiful Things” was composed by Marie, and text was written by Per. But since I haven’t got the HAND booklet, I can’t be 100% sure. So can you tell me...? Thanx

Yes that is correct.

....and its probably my favourite roxette song ever!

Mine as well! It’s just beautiful.
I think there was another Roxette song written and composed in this unusual way, but can’t remember it right now...

Wasn’t Watercolours In The Rain the same? I haven’t got my Joyride booklet here, so can’t check, but I think it is!

Yep, so it is!

’Even if I am in love with you. All this to say, what’s it to you?’

I think there might be a few more as well. Hotblooded comes to mind for some reason.

It would nice to see the same happen again one day, maybe.

Beautiful things, one of the best Roxettes songs... maybe the best!! Its brilliant!!!

yes, that‘s right, more or less hapened with cry(written by per and marie), Go to sleep(written by marie ithink and music by per or maire??? i well help me if you can) watercolours in the rain(written by per and marie and music by arie fredrikkson)

now i think that this idea that has just came up in my mind can be wrriten here, it´s about a few funny words that per said to an interviwer, and he said: “its hard for us create an uptempo song, especially for us being old” and then he said: ” and it´s hasrd to create uptempo songs when “this lady here never wrties an uptempo song ” jeje, of course they laughed, and marie said: well i try i try, i do my best” jeje

Regarding Hotblooded, Per once said that he wrote the chorus and Marie the verses. Music wise.

Yeah, great song. And also amazing rocking demo.

It seems that there is another (older???) version of this song with music written by Per. At least in the bmi-listing you will find a song called “Beautiful Things, Terrible Thing” without Marie mentioned in the credits.

The moon is alright

Probably one of the 2 reasons why HAND remains a lovely record to me despite all the controversy .... it’s been nearly 9 nine years who would have guessed? LOL

The most haunting string arregement, the saddest melody and the simplest text to describe just one thing ... loneliness... pure and genuine perfect song. And it’s funny cause while the original version sounds so depressive and sad and from begining to the end ... the demo recorded by Marie sounded slighty more hopeful like seaking for a hope against loneliness ... both versions are so “Marie” in many ways: the drums resembling “Tro”, the “beatles-nish” sounding echoed in the demo version specially by the solo guitar reminded me so much of “Let It Be” and the drumbeat brought me back YDUM... (a Roxette song that is regarded as closer to Marie’s style ...)

All these elements come to prove me this is another Roxette song, no other could have done it ,, but only themselves!

By the way the other reason is COY (this time around focusing on energy, fun, speed, crazyness... ohh yeeeah) LOL

I just love what Rox_Nox said above here!!

Beautiful Things is such a beautiful song. I once heard Per commenting on the chorus as “wonderful”. It’s really a true Marie-ballad with, yes, the “Tro” feeling to it.

And personally I think it resembles all our lifes at one point. At one point or another we ALL experience loneliness - and seek desperately for someone to talk to, someone to listen to our cries.
Well done, Marie!!

And on the opening track, Crush On You, Roxette explains just how “crazy” and “silly” teenage love can be. In my opinion, Roxette is the “oldest” teenage band alive!! Other artists at Per and Marie’s age write deep, emotional things that sometimes makes you think too much, but Per is an eternal teenager and Marie’s voice will always ROCK as that of a teenager in love.

Roxette is truly amazing and the world doesn’t know what they’re missing - and I do hope Roxette continues!!

Hi everybody:
Beautiful Things - a great song by the way - was written by Per but only lyrics. It was mentioned in some interview in 1997.. and then Marie wrote the music, that‘s why there‘s a demo of Beautiful Things that was recorded in Studio Vinden (Marie‘s studio) with her husband. This demo is different from the one we got in HAND, it´s an up tempo song with guitars!!!
Hope it‘s useful information for all of you
