Why was this released as a single? Is there a video for 93 version?
Was this song/version succesful?
Thanks.

Yep, I got “fingertips’93” just as b-side of “almost unreal”, but nevertheless a nice alternative to the tourism-version...

Love this song. And the clip is pretty cool as well, but I don’t think we got a release in Australia.
Was there ever a reason given for the remix of the song? or they just thought it would sound good?

Rob, Australia was one of the (few?) places this song was released. It never charted of course.

Fingertips ’93 was released in some countries in early 1993 as the third single from Tourism. The video was the first Åkerlund production for Roxette. Roxette probably thought the album version wasn’t commercial enough without drums and e-guitars. As the single wasn’t released everywhere and did not that great on the charts, Fingertips ’93 became a b-side to Almost Unreal 3 months later. Both song and video are still favourites of mine, quite cool vibe! :-)

I love this version of Fingertips. It sounds very modern. I think, Roxette could release it now and it would sound like recorded in 2007. And the video is fab!
Btw, I’ve never known that Fingertips ’93 wasn’t a worldwide release. Thanx for the info :)

Are you guys talking about the live version or is that a studio version???
Thanks
Sascha said on April 11, 2007 07:39:
The ’93 version is based on the album version but with added drums, guitars and other sounds. The single reached #45 in Germany. Very cool and timeless song!

The Australian release was quite limited, I think it was pulled early because of a printing error on the cd. It was also released on Cassingle.

In Australia I remember EMI telling me it was cancelled.
It was released however just as a release special with Crash!Boom!Bang! for a limited time also with a free CBB shirt at selected stores. Thats how I got it first back then. Then I found a guy selling 10 copies of the single bundled together at a swap meet :)
I still have the printed advertisement somewhere.

Got a question:
I know that official discographies name F‘93 the third single of Tourism, after QOR. But in my audiobiographical single release memory first there was F‘93 and then QOR. Am I wrong, or was the release order different here in Germany? Btw, the same thing occurs to me with June Afternoon first, then followed by YDUM... might be completely wrong, though.

In Sweden QoR was out before Fingertips, but the UK QoR was out after Fingertips. Don’t really know when Germany was out.

“Fingertips ’93” is brilliant! I really think it is one of Roxette’s best singles. It’s a shame it doesn’t get recognition on any of the recent hits compilations.
I have a copy of the Australian single of “Fingertips ’93”, by the way, in that cheap cardboard sleeve. I paid $15 for it years ago. Is it quite rare?
Sascha said on April 17, 2007 13:59:
@ veneziano: It was the normal oder here in Germany. HDYD > QOR > F93, YDUM > JA > SDLHA. Anything else is just your memory... ;-)
I hope one day Per & Marie will rediscover the beauty of F93 and Fireworks!

I have the CD5 and 7” single of FIngertips 93, I believe they are both from Holland but I’d have to check when I’m back home.
The sleeve is one of my faves!

the video to Fingertips 93 is fab...get any of the DVD collections to see it - or look on Youtube, I guess its on there somewhere.
It was released in some parts of the world at the same time (correct me peeps if I am wrong) whilst other parts of the world got Almost Unreal...depending on where the Super Mario Bros film was being released.
