Reveal not (!) in Swedish Top 60
animalkingdom said on February 22, 2007 11:26:
The single has not charted as of Feb 22 in the Swedish Top 60 singles. So I come to wonder is it even available in the shops?
Here in Finland there’s no news regarding the release, I went to a store and the guy even phoned EMI but they knew nothing about Reveal. I believe it’s doomed to be a flop!
onlywhenidream said on February 22, 2007 12:17:
what a farce! Per should just release the singles for free on the roxette.se website. More people at least would then get to hear them. No radio airplay, no physical singles. This is just getting beyond the joke now. I am totally switched off by EMIs non-sensical approach, and quite frankly, I thought Per was too much of a Shrewd business person to get stitched-up like this. Ho Hum.
Roxrider_USA said on February 22, 2007 15:57:
This is outrageous!!
This is exactly why i said in another thread, that EMI is just waiting for Roxette to quit so they can stop doing this miserable and horrendous promotion for Roxette. I mean, this is a single! Why release it then ? It’s so senseless.
Even if Marie was totally healthy, Roxette would never regain at least 25% of their former success with EMI actually digging Roxette’s grave deeper and deeper instead of ascending them higher and higher with strong, intelligent, widespread proper promotion.
Then EMI cries about the file sharing on the internet... what a joke!
Take care!

Warner Music should just buy EMI and fire all their management.

I just realised I forgot to order it :S
well, I will when I have some other album in the shopping list, don’t feel like paying that much (postage) for it..

well i don t think the situation would be any different if roxette were signed to another label. so many other artists are in the same situation it doesn t have much to do which label you are signed on.

Reveal (Remix Version) CD-Maxi Single is aviable in other Record Stores than CDON. I went to Rocks in Kungsbacka, Sweden on 21 March and at first they said we don´t have it, you have to order it if you want it. I did that but when I walked around in the shop they opened a package from EMI they had got and in it were a few copies of Reveal (Remix Version) CD-Maxi Single so I didn´t had to order it. I know on the release date it wasn´t aviable almost nowhere but a few days later it came out to some stores. Just wait a few days then the Record Stores have it.

No video clip and bad cover..
Why they put it on 14 febr with such bad cover.Who wil buy it as a gift??
Room_service said on February 22, 2007 23:52:
What does the cover have to do with chart success, airplay or sales? I think the cover fits the single pretty well, I like it. It happened that other stuff with even worse covers have sold millions before... I don’t think that’s relevant.
arnie said on February 23, 2007 00:24:
C´mon, let’s be honest, you can’t release a single with a cover made in Windows’ Paint.
My 3-years old niece can make a better cover than that. I wouldn’t buy it if I weren’t a Roxette fan
Room_service said on February 23, 2007 09:06:
Yes, that’s why One Wish was not made with “Paint”, so it looks better... you should be more realistic. Anyway, many people here (I am talking about Argentinian fans) moan about sleeves and things not being released... and after all they don’t buy anything. I say this because I know them, sorry.
If you are interested in music, that’s all that matters. You don’t stare at the sleeve all day, do you? By the way, Almosy Unreal sleeve is even worse than the current single.
phoenixsamudra said on February 23, 2007 09:27:
i think the cover very much fits the single. didn t we have a discussion about apealing to younger people a short time ago??? well when i look at the cover and read roxette (let s pretend i have no idea who they are) I think ’wow that looks so cool, i think i recognise these guys for having a song with the dancing dj’s’.
The cover is very ’electro’ and that s also what the remixes sound like therfore i think it s apropriate. shame there is no video and no promotion.

emi are one of the biggest record companies but the way they treat artists is appaling and legendary. when i worked within the business emi was always looked down on as only being interested in an artist if they were bringing in loads of money and, therefore, the record company would get backhanded coverage.
look at the way roxette are being treated at the moment - little, or no, mention was made of the last single (‘one wish‘) and they seem to be doing even worse with ‘reveal‘. okay part of the blame lies with per (and to a lesser degree - marie) but part of a record companies task is to promote records by their artists.
i‘m not sure what the relationship is with marie/per and emi - i know they were thinking of leaving them but, i‘m afraid, this mess is typical of the way some record companies act.
i worked on the security side of things and you always knew when emi employees were in the building - their arrogance towards anybody that dared to disagree with them was amazing. i very rarely worked for anyone on their label - in fact, i think the time i did with roxette was the only time and that was because marie and per stood up to them on more than one occasion.
with people i worked alongside it was a standing joke that if a member of the emi team needed security back-up, we all suddenly became deaf and blind.

EMI is a disgrace! What a shame how they treat a band like Roxette at their almost certain end.

What do you think about Edel? They could be more dynamic than EMI.

For the U.S. fans...
Cduniverse.com has a February 27 release date for the “Reveal” CD single from France.
Amazon.com is listing a March 4 release date for an imported 4-track “Reveal” single. It should be interesting to see if either of these releases actually come into stock!
...And then people wonder why illegal file sharing happens. I’ll happily buy a physical copy if it ever actually makes an in-stock condition at either of these sites. Otherwise, I’ll have to resort to finding them online illegally. I still haven’t heard the “Single Version” of “Reveal”.
rox-kuryliw said on February 27, 2007 17:52:
Reveal single cd was made for fans end of day. Like a treat. I just wished they did the same with ’breathe’.
joyride1 said on February 27, 2007 23:48:
My meaning:
it´s a bonus for the fans and not planning as Single for the Charts.
animalkingdom said on February 28, 2007 09:42:
You’re talking about Per the Businessman?
Sure, it’s also for fans but I find it odd that they’d give profit/pay to the remixers just to get a couple thousand singles shifted!
Kiwein1 said on February 28, 2007 09:46:
No video, no promotion for an ordinary song which has been produced in a lousy way. What do you expect?
I really love the Attic Remix and I can’t understand why they didn’t use THIS version to promote the song.

I don’t think the single not being available in most shops is the problem and causes the single not to chart. How many people imbulse buy cd singles anyway from looking at a cover in a shop? They go there to buy it. If its not there and they want it they will order it. Not just give up.
The song is weak for a Roxette single and it was always going to fail. EMI knows it and have made very limited physical cd singles. Thats business. I wish it was successful but it has no chance.
Room_service said on March 1, 2007 14:44:

Sorry, but I don’t agree. The song did it pretty well in the German radio charts. It doesn’t sound weak to my ears. Are you one of those that think Breathe could have been a great single? That’s a weak song, not Reveal. As someone said, it was not meant to climb the charts like a rocket. It was released for our pleasure, that’s good enough for me. Charts and sales don’t count anymore.
Max-Tob said on March 1, 2007 16:21:
I agree, Reveal is better than Breath; at least in theory. But it’s simply not made for charting. While the charts and sales do count..STILL.
rox-kuryliw said on March 1, 2007 17:42:
listern to ’breathe’ then ’reveal’, i like both by the way alot :-) but in my view ’breathe’ is just so much stronger and powerful for radio which roxette is best known for, and could have been remix for radio so much better. Just my view anyhow. Well in past now anywho :-).
PS can it be a flop if its not released ?! no.
veneziano said on March 1, 2007 21:44:
#59, WOW! So it almost sold as much copies as “Hurt” or “My Love” - only that these are in charts for about 5 months now...
Room_service said on March 1, 2007 22:25:
At the moment the Swedish chart has been flooded with the Melodifestivalen songs, what else did you expect? That’s a massive event. There is no place for Roxette in the charts, at this point of the year. We should be grateful the single was able to enter the chart at least.
imazombieinthem... said on March 9, 2007 05:31:
I was quite suprised it got to #59.
Is it Roxettes biggest flop in Sweden if it doesnt chart again?
Room_service said on March 9, 2007 06:23:
Well, I Call Your Name, Run To You and She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore didn’t chart in Sweden at all...
animalkingdom said on March 9, 2007 09:51:
@ tevensso
Really? The Pop Hits booklet states that Roxette started their career “with a string of hit singles like NEL, Soul Deep and I Call Your Name.” I assumed that ICYN became a “hit” in some TV charts cos it didn’t really “chart”. But it wasn’t released at all?
chrisjankunas said on March 9, 2007 11:29:
According to “The Look for Roxette”, it was released in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxemburg and The Netherlands. It wasn’t released in Sweden.
JoyRidErno said on March 9, 2007 12:13:
TLFR says ICYN was released only in Benelux and Germany.
edit. ...and it was said already..
animalkingdom said on March 9, 2007 14:13:
OK. I wasn’t saying that ICYN WAS released in Sweden - just surprised it really wasn’t.
tevensso (moderator) said on March 9, 2007 14:44:
I was too, and upset at the time as the 7” version kicked ass. Not to mention the 12”.
animalkingdom said on March 9, 2007 15:00:
Is the 7” version the same as the Frank Mono-mix, the one used in the video?
animalkingdom said on March 9, 2007 16:06:
Yes, thanks.
And back to Reveal. I got mail from EMI Finland, they say they didn’t release Reveal in Finland because of small singles market. Also, I was wondering if they sent any radio promos cos I haven’t heard Reveal anywhere but in fact they have: “they just refuse to play it.” :(

Roxreporter said on March 18, 2007 17:47:
Am I correct when I say this is the first single in 21 years that has no video?
It’s also the first single that’s not available in my local store.
It’s also the first single where I like the remixes better than the original version.
It’s also the first single that gets totaly ignored by the radio here.
I think we can say this is a quite weird step in their carreer.
chrisjankunas said on March 18, 2007 19:55:
Well, Pay The Price never had a video - I know it was only released in Japan but it was still a comercially released song without a video !
tevensso (moderator) said on March 18, 2007 19:59:
Goodbye To You has no video either, nor does the original of It Must Have Been Love. On the other hand, The Look and Neverending Love have two videos each.
Room_service said on March 19, 2007 00:02:
No sé si es amor was also released as a single in the Spanish-speaking countries and it has no video. Quisiera volar doesn’t have a video either. But there is sort of a video for Alguien. Indeed, it’s the Anyone video, but the parts were Marie is miming the vocals were removed (for obvious reasons!). I watched it on TV some time ago.
AURYTE said on March 19, 2007 12:29:

tevensso (moderator) said on February 22, 2007 11:53:
As far as I’ve heard the only “store” that has it is CDON. I have heard of no physical sightings of the single. But then again, why have it in stores, why tell anyone it’s out there? This is EMI we’re talking about...
