what it takes to succeed

here is what I think it takes for roxette to appeal to a wider (and more general) audience (back to the top of the charts) in the next album:

i) need a record company that truly supports them with releases in US.
ii) need better arrangements and productions in songs. They did a great job in production in HAND, but a so-so job in RS. Im not gonna start another discussion on RS vs. HAND. But if you compare WICF and the ballads on RS, you can feel that they have put a lot more effort in production in WICF (with the beautiful strings and beats).
iii) make sure there are more single-ready songs on the album before the release (ie. don’t rush out the new album because Per wants to do his own swedish album).
iv) it’s time to work on lyrics. think about songs like listen to your heart and spending my time. the lyrics mean something, the lyrics is actually a piece of art by itself, take Spending My Time for an example, I miss lyrics like “i leave a kiss on your answering machine ...”. Better lyrics will stop critics from calling roxette a poppy, fluffy group.

this is all nice but they HAVE nothing more to prove to anyone
