Crash! Boom! Live! South Africa 1995

36 replies

I’m looking for the video ‘Crash! Boom! Live! South Africa 1995’? I’m almost sure that you can’t get it on DVD. Anyone who knows if it has been released on DVD?
If it hasn’t the last possibility to get it is to download it. Anyone who knows where to download it?

I don’t think it’s on DVD, only on VHS. Maybe on Roxbytes, but I’m not sure.

it was released on Laser Disc, which is like SO hard to find. also on VHS. but not on DVD (nor is it on Roxbytes)

I’m just happy i caught the show live:P
also i taped it from T;P

It hasn’t been released on dvd officially but every now and than bootleg dvd’s of this particular concert pop up on Ebay.

Like here:

YES THERE WAS an offical dvd I knwo cos I bought it ripped it to cassette, cause it was a pal dvd and mailed it to my friend in england, I do believe its out fo print

i think this ebay offer is no original dvd cos it sais “DVD sourced from public domain.” does it mean that it has been downloaded from somwhere on the internet?

Nope, there wasn’t an official DVD released of this concert.

tev there was the fanclub sold it it was released by the tv station that filmed it per mentioned that it was delayed while they secured distibution rights..

Having ’Crash! Boom! Live!’ officially released on DVD by EMI for the first time in remixed and remastered 5.1 DTS surround sound and remastered stereo would have been a nice treat for the 20th anniversary. Maybe for the 100th anniversary we’ll get it?

The fanclub? Roxette’s fanclub? That doesn’t necessarily make it a proper release.

The only official DVD’s I can find info on are the 2 video collection ones. There has been no official worldwide live DVD releases, which is rubbish!!!

Yes, Paul it is rubbish isn’t it!! I hope things change very soon about that.

They had the perfect opportunity to release something to coincide with the 20th anniversary. Another wasted chance. But never know what’s gonna happen in the future, but I’m not hopeful really. :-(

Its a real travesty actually that for a band for which touring was such a core part of their existence, there is no live DVD released in good quality. Roxette concerts hold so many good memories for me..

Why are we asking them to release it on DVD? Knowing EMI it will be shit as all the other DVD’s.

Dave

This is true, Dave. I’m sure EMI would do a simple VHS to DVD transfer, probably as good as the bootleg that’s out there.

personally what I would like to get hold of is recordings of the other South-African shows (Port Elizabeth, Durban, Cape Town). They aired them on TV after each one (on M-Net’s Soundcheck, if memory serves). I saw them, but never got to tape them unfortunately as I was on holiday at the time:(

it was so great seeing them live in PE. I wish I had the recording of it to re-live it properly. The set-list wasn’t exactly the same as the Johannesburg show that’s availble on tape.

I have the LaserDisc and that source makes perfect DVDs.

As far as I know there is definately no official release on DVD for this.... I would love to have it on Laser Disc!

Dave, you are probably spot on about that. I was thinking it would be good to have some release rather than no release. But after 3 crap quality DVD’s why should we settle for another.

@ tevensso: If there is a TDR interview soon, is it possible to slip in a question about their view on releasing Live-Ism/CBL! on DVD?

Maybe a question asking for a Roxbox of Live DVD’s... now that would be cool... just point Per in the direction of how much money he would make doing this!

... maybe for 21 years next year!

If somone have a spare VHS or LD please contact me

I bought the original VHS from SABC a while back. I’ve converted the consert to dvd. If anyone wants a copy, mail me at [email protected]

Sound and picture is good, but not dvd quality.

^you have mail:D

Will get back to you asap!! Jules!! he he!

Ted, if only you had asked a couple of weeks ago!

Someone is selling on ebay Roxette “LIVE-ISM” and wrote that’s an official DVD. Is it really? Has it been ever released on DVD??

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180062509161

No, it was never officially released on DVD.

I so wish Roxette had released at least one of their concerts on DVD... Though I’d prefer that they released a concert which was not on VHS. This way we’d get to see more Roxette concerts. And in all honesty, South American concert is a must :D

@joyriderdk: are you from Denmark?

The “Live-ISM” DVD was licensed to a Brazilian label. Anyway, they used the Japanese laser disc as the source to make the DVD. So, the image quality is better than on the VHS version, I think.

You just saved EMI some work! I’m sure this is what they were planning to do in the first place. Just send an additional copy to EMI Sweden, and ta-dah, the DVD should be all set for an early January international release date!!! You’ve done the work for them. Now there’s no excuse for putting it out there for sale!

@Auryte

Yes, I’m from Denmark. Are you also from Denmark?

@joyriderdk

I’m from Lithuania, but I’m exchange student at University of Copenhagen :)

Yeah, it’s true that the “Live-ISM” DVD was licensed to a Brazilian label and that they’ve used the Japanese laser disc as the source to make the DVD (the portuguese subs appear in a black stripe covering the original japanese ones... weird...). The quality of the image was ok but it does not seem to be a good transfer (it’s looks quite the same as the vhs). But as tevensso said it’s not an offcial release.

The same occurs with the “CBB live”. Actually there is a japanese dvd (not the one that is being offered at ebay) , which is not official but it makes me wonder why the cover-art (ehich is almost identival to the vhs one) has the emi logo and the menues had not only the emi but also the FBI, EMM (emi music media) and the dolby digital logos/promos...
So I’m lost... The main menu plays dangerous (album edit) as background music and has a still image of the stage (very nasty....)

It’s the same show that had been broadcasted in HBO (at least here in Argentina) by STORM productions... (you can clearly notice that at the end of joyride, in which after the fireworks it shows the storm logo...) And it’s look similar to the brazilian one so it might be taken from the laserdisc. I’m not sure.... Anyone knows more... The label number of it is DVDV-3239 or 3259...

Fernando

I bought the original video (without sleeve) from SABC, here in South Africa. I have converted the vhs to DVD lately. If you want a copy, gimme a mail at [email protected] - I’ll make you a copy.

Tevensso, please, tell me, if you have a LD of CBL‘95, is there any possibilty that you would make a DVD copy of this, and sell it to me, or maybe just give it to me for free ? :) I‘m serious.
