Cinnamon Street vs 2 Cinnamon Street

Simple question folks, which do you prefer, Cinnamon Street or 2 Cinnamon Street?
Does anyone know the story behind this? Did they record both at the same time and then opt for Per’s version?
Or did Marie’s come after Tourism was released? And if so, why did they re-record it?
I know “The Look For Roxette” mentions that Roxette appeared twice on the Super Mario Bros Soundtrack to encourage European fans to buy the local version of the album, not the import - but any reason why this song? It’s not like there’s a real link between the song and the film?
I really like Marie’s vocals on her version of Cinnamon Street but which version do you prefer?

I like both different days. Usually I prefer Per’s version, but Marie’s version has a nice guitar.

I prefer the Tourism version. Marie sounds a bit tired on 2CS, imo.

The Tourism version is by far the best. Maries vocal on 2CS is not very good, and the vocal harmonies on the Torism version are amazing. This track has really grown on me to become a favorite from that album. Beautiful production!

Again you come to wonder, why no CS in the Box? Come on - Come Back Before You Leave? Silver Blue?

I prefer Per’s version, but if it had the music from CS2 with Per singing it would be even better. The song doesn’t really suit Maries style I think

I was about to start this topic. I like both actually and Per’s version just tips it.

Hard one for me. I normally go for Marie’s version, probably because i haven’t heard it as much as Per’s. But Per’s sounds real nice too.

Per’s version is the better one for me... And yes, it should have been on the RoxBox

Oh no, it’s too hard for me to choose. Can imagine 2CS being done half and half by Per and Marie, now that’d be cool!

Was Marie´s Version really the FIRST???? Can not imagine that.
Yeah, a mixed Version would be cool. But it would only work with a “harmony-change”. The Basic-Chord is different in both songs...

There is actually a fan-made mix called 3 Cinnamon Street that tries to mix the two into each other. Doesn’t work very well imo., however, but well, it’s a cureosity.
I think the reason it didn’t make RoxBox is that many people disliked this song when Tourism was out back in the days, and it often got the hard reviews. Really don’t know why, but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes. Toursim is for me very underrated, and can’t understand the selection for RoxBox. No Cinnamon Street? No FINGETIPS??? No So Far Away!?!? (that was the best track on the album!!) And instead they include Come Back Before You Leave, which is one of their most horrible songs post Look Sharp. Weird.

Hey all! I thaught this discussion was kind of interesting so i fiddled together the two versions into one. Like somone mentioned before, the versions are recorded in different keys. Because of this Per sounds like a chipmunk and Marie sounds a bit drunk but they now are at the same key with the right tempo (well.. sort of..). Dont know if i´ve done anything illegal but have a listen here:

2 Cinnamon Street was recorded first but found not fitting, thus it was recorded again with PG on lead vocal and finally included on “Tourism”. When the “Super Mario Bros.” thing came up, they found it in the vault...
