Roxette delivers even though technical problems!
As TDR ALSO has technical problems due to server migration I will post the article here for now:
SÖDERHAMN - As you may and may not know, roxette.se and sister sites have been down since Saturday. TDR has spoken with the site administrator David J. Elfström Lilja who rips his hair in frustration. The sites are down due to technical issues that seem to be hard to solve.
David lets TDR know that the demo promised to be online early this morning will be, for now, put on Per Gessle’s myspace account. It will be put there during this evening.

Why is this always the same? Everyone or almost everyone seems to enjoy demos better than original in a more recent times!
Why? Is is the mini-moog that bugs our heads off? Is the guitar that is in the back and that should be more upfront and more hearable? Is the synth sounds that make you “vomit”? (LOL) ...Is that the guitar and the tambourine and that strange guitar solo (too dark tone for a happy go lucky sort of tune) that make you fall in love with it? I thought we were fans for the music and not specifically for guitars! LOL
To be very honest either the demo and the original versions have the same vibe and they breathe the same feel to me in the melody and that for me has always an important issue. Very nice stripped version to be played on acoustic sets... but if you wanted a more radio friendly and especially more energetic version (which is what OW trully is) then the original is what you should be able to appreciate. And therefore both versions make equal sence in each respective context to be used...

@Tider12_ : You have the flash object in your PC. When you listen the song and after it’s fully loaded it’s stored in your temporary internet files. It’s called Roxette_demo.swf or something like that.

This week might be a little disappointing for those who already have heard the Dance Away demo, but we all have to remember, that wasn’t released, it was stolen. So we shouldn’t have heard it until now anyway. We are lucky they’re releasing any of these demos at all, don’t you think?
Of course, I’d like to hear the Stars demo, and maybe some of the older ones like Drowning in You (but maybe a bit different, like Love Spins is on the box).
Like Roxette is supposed to keep track of which demos you complaining people have already heard and adjust their choices accordingly. Get a life!

Very very good demo. I think that this demo is better than original version in some moments and in its ways.I like the sample sound. I always thought that final verson is little bit unfinished, Melody is one of their best. I have the same feeling with Beautiful Things demo. Melody is great, dark, this is ’really’ ballad. But it need more arrangies and more orchestral sound, strings, bass etc. Rox made fantastic job with Wish I Could Fly, when they combine electric loop drum with big orchestra.

This i wasn’t expecting! :) One of my absolute favourites with a very good demo showing exactly what we got to know as the final song. I agree when someone said that the final version seemed incomplete. I still feel that a ballad of this nature deserved being a bit bigger in time running and the demo does provide that extended part that the final doen’t have. A song that moves me completely a true big ballad from Roxette probably their final one in terms of “deeper darker melodies” with an amazing synth sounding surrounding it and creating a magic vibe that creaps me. The final version has the strings which provides an ever more intense feeling... I will alwways miss this sort of ballads ... somehow Per seems to have got tired of songs like these as well. Once again, it’s a very complete demo. Pretty much everything you hear in the demo is in the final version, just more polished. Not a fan of Per’s vocals in it though. But it still has that amazing melody.

Just wanna say that the demo sounds great and has everything I could expect: it’s never heard, it’s from one of the two latest albums, it sounds like a real song and not like a demo, and it has different lead singer from the one on the final version. This is the most exciting moment for me ever .... TCOTH finally on its demo version. It’s slower but the chorus still rocks and those guitars there sound incredible ... nice piano interlude in the middle ....love it!
The final version actually begins more enegetically causing more impact for me ... this one does not. And yet this strange combination of almost 2 different songs into one remains ... verses and chorus that is. I love the original so anything coming aftwards is great and this is the case...

Great intro, great chorus with really driving guitars, good samples, this song is mix between old and new Rox. Somewhere between Crash! Boom! Bang! and HAND.

Anyway, we don’t know if that little part featured in the documentary is the definitive demo. I think that’s a pretty early rehearsal of the song, no more than that. it’s quite interesting that this demo has almost the same production as the final version. didn’t they say sometime ago that the first version of this song was a rock-version?
and there’s a middle eight in it wich they left out of the final version.
just have to listen to it again...

I guess there are many takes from each demo. I meam, many versions of the same song are recorded along the process. This is one of the late demos they did (I suppose), because it is pretty close to the definitive version. Same about Dangerous: the version we got last week is not the same version we used to have (like the one on the bootleg Myths).
That’s why I don’t care much about The Big L. (demo), because I don’t think we will ever get the version featured in the documentary (The Making of Joyride). I don’t think the whole take of that version exists at all. If a demo of that song pops up someday, probably it will be an early version sung by Per.

About Stars: I wanted this one ... but I was somehow expecting something different. It is [too] much the way the song ended up coming up on the album without that strange corny middle eight around there which for me has nothing to do with the rest of the song. I guess if i am not wrong that, having more contemporary programmed songs was what inspired late 90s work for Roxette so songs like this one or COY ended up the way we know them. I remember also that talking about the guitar riff thing on the POP HITS album... but no one has ever said that there was any demo sounding like that. It can be possible that the song was initially thought to sound like that but it ended up not working... so they went for a more dancable programmed version.
At least the live versions (both RS tour and slow versions) are amazing and give a special kick to this amazing song that over the years created a 3rd world war among us all LOL (funny days those days LOL)
At least it’s cool to have the chance to hear this cool demo. But not my fav demo so far ... Who knows what will be the final demo? LOL

I much prefer the final studio version. As with nearly all the demo’s heard so far.

Not really. That oboe instrumental merely had a melody. Just repeating the same 3 notes in different keys... I’m glad they changed it!
