The GH enters at #02, even the RoxBox hits the charts at #20! The singles stays at #04.

Entering at #41 in Flanders (Belgium) is not really good. Normally Belgium is very very Roxette-friendly with lots of promotion. This time it’s completely different I think. Haven’t noticed any promotion so far.

You can’t take the “euro 200” chart seriously. The buggest clown in Sweden, Basshunter, has two songs on that euro chart. Do not think so.

Do you think http://top40-charts.com is trustworthy? It claims OW entered Sweden on #3 already in September, which isn’t true according to hilistan.se...

Does anyone have sources (links) for Netherlands? What about the rest of the world? Let’s see where ROX20 goes... :-)

The most official European sales chart is Music & Media’s published Eurochart Hot 100.

“One Wish” is now at #80 on that chart, falling down one from #79. (http://www.worldcharts.co.uk/worldcharts/)

18 as actually a quite good position in the Czech republic, cos almost all the artist in the top 20 are domestic artist. Of the international artists, roxette are in the very top.

Nice position, big jump, but sales in CZ aren´t so big. Golden record for foreign artists is 10.000 copies if I´m correct. Last single which has been released in CZ from Rox was Wish I Could Fly.
So no singles, no iTunes. Middle Age. :-(

The album’s been out for 2 weeks in Finland and it still isn’t in the top-40. EMI Finland’s been running a TV campaign for it and therefore I think the compilation’s got very bad reception! The Ballad Hits peaked #15 and The Pop Hits at #40 here.

What did you expect for Germany? Top10? Come down to earth! It’s just another GH album and OW was very poorly promoted. E.g. I’ve never heard it on the radio. Although I’m listening to stations that are very Roxette-friendly (Bayern3, SWR3, WDR2). And the biggest mistake was to play The Look at the Bravo Gala. That could have been a wonderful promotion for the single and the album!
I’m sure that Roxette will have much more success in Germany when they do a real comeback which means a new album!

Yes it is all about promotion. One example. Euro group E-rotic released in Germany in 2002 single “King kong”. It was bad promoted what resulted in huge flop. This year group Shanadoo released cover version of this song /sung in japan, but song was not very changed from original/. This girl group has good promotion in Germany and with King kong spent one month in top 20 of sales chart. The same song and different promo resulted in different chart result. It is maybe sad but it is reality...

Well I think another reason for E-rotics flop was that they were bi in the 90’s and they were never a group with lasting power to begin with.. cheap eurotrash pop music.. not denying that their music was/is fun though.. ;-)

Well, One Wish was on 91.8 FM (Galgalatz) which is the most popular station, but it was kicked out and didn’t enter the top 25#.
On Radius (100 FM) which is rather popular as well, it began in 25# and one the second week it climbed to 20#. We need your help! VOTE!!

Why do you think Finland top-20 is unusable?
If I understood you correctly:
This is a small country, there’s no point in having a top-40 singles chart, let alone a top-100 that other rather small countries like Austria or Switzerland have. I mean charting at,say, 78 in Switzerland whose population isn’t very big and making a fuzz about it doesn’t really make sense.

Btw, Hits is gone from the Finnish album chart.

For example.
In Swizerland is single in (for example) 78. There´s Top 100. So single is included in the chart.
In Finland is single in (for example) 22. There´s Top 20. So single isn´t charted.

The problem is that the physical single market of many countries has gotten too small for proper charting.

Even in Germany you can get into the Top100 with only a few thousand (or even hundred?) records. Do a few hundred sales really say something about success and quality?

If think, to rate a songs impact and popularity, all countries should switch to a Billboard style chart system. 50 % airplay, 50 % sales (physical & legal downloads).

Last single released in Czech rep. was WICF in 1999. It cost 250 KC (cca 8 Euro).
Last year I was in Sweden. I bought C´mon single there. It cost 19 SEK (cca 2, 5 Euro).
I think this is main problem of single charts, especially in eastern Europe.

About the Billboard chart system: I just think that a few thousand single buyers don’t give a proper picture about a nation’s music taste. Singles are bought almost only by teenagers here in Germany. The last single I bought apart from Rox must have been 10 years ago... Radio stations try to please a broad listener base, so national airplay positions would add to a rounder pciture of a songs popularity imho. ;-)

Thats why I said the chart should include downloads, who are a different market altogether. The UK chart changed dramatically as soon as downloads were introduced. There is no need to include radio airplay (which is only bought by record companies anyway) when you can include downloads.

Some specialities.
One Wish is very popular in Spain and Sweden. Hits in Switzerland, Norway and Denmark.
I´m expecting gold record for Hits in Sweden. The Ballad Hits got gold record in its 2nd week in chart with charting 5-6-5-10-10. Hits was 2-6-7-14-23.
Same problem with One Wish. Stars was 13 back in 99 and it´s gold. TCOTH was gold in its first week. OW was 2-4-4-4-8.
So have you any details about gold records?
I know that Gold means 30.000 albums sold in Sweden. How much for the single? 10.000?

All I see is the chart performance of the “Hits” in Sweden was not as good as “The Ballad Hits”. Quite predictible. In my opinion TBH was a much more convincent package than the Hits. No only musically, also the packaging. The design of the new compilation is very poor, same about the contents: no lyrics, no bio, no comments on the songs. I wonder why they deleted TBH/TPH: they were a million times better, and a more complete anthology.
