Archived threads

Just a small suggestion about archived threads.
Would it be possible to give a reason when threads are closed eg. duplicate (see >>link

Good point Rob - I was thinking about that the other day. Maybe when the new mod(s) come on they’ll have their own ways??

Thank you :-) Hopefully it might cause less threads to be archived as Ferdan said.

Other sites I’m on have “mini mods” - they have no actual powers at all and aren’t really mods, just regular members who go and find the correct link if a thread is redundant. So for example if someone starts a new fanfiction thread, one of the mini mods can find the correct link, put it in the thread with an explanation that this one already exists, then a real mod can come and close it. I’m sure there’s a few people who would volunteer to do it.

Isn’t that exactly what we all (well, most of us) are doing anyway?
When there are minimods, is the “normal” user not allowed anymore to post those links too? I mean having a post with the link to a “doubled” thread put in first line will help other users to go and find the “better” thread.
If the normal user still has the “licence” to post such links, what’s the sense of a minimod then? ;-)

Actually you’re exactly right thenicekai. A minimod is not an offical mod, just a normal user. On Star Wars.com for example, anyone can minimod. It just helps out the real mods and stops timewasting. The rule there is, once the link has been given you have to stop posting in the redundant one. It would be up to the TDR staff to decide on their own rules.

we actually have some minimods then, because some people post links to the “first” topic when they realise a double topic has been created :)

Yes, it´s generally done in other forums. and helps users learn ways to avoid having a closed thread again.
